  1. Ebenfalls von Quartet: Quartet Records presents a double CD that features several non-film compositions by Pascal Gaigne, a composer with whom we have proudly worked for fourteen years on a total of 28 albums. A sunny, enigmatic composer, Gaigne has patiently developed, alongside an impressive output of music for film and intense activity as a stage musician, a catalog of challenging works drawing on instrumental, vocal and electronic resources. These encompass a very broad musical spectrum, including electroacoustics and microtonality, constantly reinventing the relationship between traditional music and symphonic music—particularly of the 20th century. Gaigne is also one of those composers who can move with equal ease from instrumental writing to acousmatic composition (a form of electroacoustic music that is specifically composed for presentation using speakers, as opposed to a live performance), and to their synthesis. This album gathers 10 pieces from his catalog—only the tip of the iceberg of his entire musical production. Produced by the composer and mastered by Mikel F. Krutzaga, the package includes a 28-page booklet with exclusive liner notes by Bertrand Dubedout. This album represents, once again, the powerful and unique voice of Pascal Gaigne within the contemporary European music community. DISC 1 1-3 Alphabet (12:28) 4. Avant la Nuit (14:03) 5. 2. Quartet legt den Score in der LLL-Version als Doppel-CD und zusätzlich als (gekürzte) Doppel-LP neu auf: Quartet Records and StudioCanal present the CD return of John Debney’s symphonic opus for the adventure classic CUTTHROAT ISLAND. Directed by Renny Harlin and starring Geena Davis, Matthew Modine and Frank Langella, the movie is a big-budget, swashbuckling throwback about Morgan Adams, a female pirate, and her crew racing to find a hidden island containing a fabulous treasure before her uncle, Dawg Brown. Along the way there are sword fights, chases, storms at sea and all sorts of high adventure, all produced on an epic scale. Keeping up with the massive visuals was composer John Debney (HOCUS POCUS, WHITE FANG 2, LITTLE GIANTS, THE PASSION OF CHRIST) who led the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Voices for the recording. Considered one of the 90s best adventure scores, and one of Debney’s most highly regarded works, this orchestral tour de force returns to CD with the same expanded program as the previous La-La Land Records album released in 2016 and long sold out. This reissue has been produced by Neil S. Bulk, and mixed and mastered by Mike Matessino. The package includes a 16-page booklet with updated liner notes by Jeff Bond and original artwork by Drew Struzan. 3. Quartet schiebt noch eine Vinyl nach. Quartet Records and Paramount Pictures present the premiere vinyl edition of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s classic score for 1992 adaptation of Emily Bronte’s WUTHERING HEIGHTS, starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, and directed by Peter Kosminsky. Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952–2023) was one of the most personal and important voices of the world music scene for several decades: from rock to pop, new age, opera, concert music, electronic and film music, no genre was foreign to him, and he managed to stamp his own style on each of them. His acclaimed score for WUTHERING HEIGHTS is written in the symphonic tradition of his scores for Bernardo Bertolucci’s THE LAST EMPEROR (for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Score) and LITTLE BUDDHA. One of Sakomoto’s most special and beloved scores, WUTHERING HEIGHTS is haunting, beautiful, romantic and tragic. Specially mastered for vinyl by Chris Malone from original stereo master tapes and following the order of the original album produced by Sakamoto, the album is presented on 2XLP 180 GM clear transparent vinyl, in an elegant gatefold with images of the film. 4. Snow Files of the Week: "The Smell of Zombies/The End of the Crusade" aus der X-Files-Folge "Millennium" (1999). Frohes neues Jahr!
  5. Von populäreren Sachen bringt Waxwork auch CDs. Beispielsweise aktuell den Score von BARBIE.
  6. Auf A VIEW TO A KILL warte ich auch. Nachdem LLL aber scheinbar runde Geburtstage abwartet, könnte A VIEW TO A KILL erst 2025 kommen.
  7. Snow Files of the Week: "Delete/Branches-Angels" aus "MillenniuM", Episode "Midnight of the Century" (1997).

Doch BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS? KRULL? STAR TREK II?
  11. Snow Files of the Week: "Search your heart/Passing the Torch" aus "Ernest Saves Christmas" (1988).
  18. Na ja, was heißt aufgebläht?
  20. World premiere release of Jerry Goldsmith’s original soundtrack from 1977 WWII film! Universal Pictures releases for Richard D. Zanuck/David Brown productions with Frank McCarthy producing, Hal Barwood & Matthew Robbins script, Joseph Sargent directs with Gregory Peck starring as the famed titular character of General Douglas MacArthur. Movie follows MacArthur in his combat exploits in the South Pacific during the latter years of WWII. Significant losses at Corregidor, victories in the Pacific, ultimate surrender of Japan, China’s conflict with Korea, all are captured in Jerry Goldsmith’s powerful score. The music anchors with a sturdy, propulsive military march given an unusual introductory idea: left-hand piano rhythms played with mallets on the strings. This dramatic effect reappears in several sequences. But Goldsmith’s march is judiciously used. Getting considerable attention is a much more nostalgic theme identifying MacArthur’s respect for West Point and the military traditions. Interestingly, a secondary idea heard as a “B” section of the composer’s march also gets considerable attention and in many instances becomes a major theme on its own. In fact, when the final end credits playout with a dynamic return of the march, Goldsmith adds a coda of powerful fortissimo major chords declaring that secondary idea to close the score. Commanding idea! There is so much more in Goldsmith’s score as well: Film covers losses by both U.S. and Filipinos as well as the Japanese, and the loss of face and defeat in Japan is given darker material. “New Era” is a moving highlight with Goldsmith building on a traditional Japanese melody (“Sakura Sakura”) in low strings colored with striking solo phrases from bassoon. MCA Records issued highlights in a re-recorded album at the time of the film’s release but the actual film versions of Goldsmith’s score have never been released - until now. Some of the differences between the film and re-recorded versions are subtle, other differences are striking. The soundtrack version of the score also includes numerous cues not contained on the 1977 album. Newly re-mastered presentation of that original album also appears. Complete score is presented from 1/2” 3-channel session masters. Several extras include source material recorded at the sessions plus a powerful specially-recorded performance of Goldsmith’s exciting “Hard Gained Ground” cue from Lonely Are The Brave in which a few seconds of the take are heard as source music in MacArthur. Wow! John Neal engineers at The Burbank Studios, Arthur Morton orchestrates, Jerry Goldsmith composes, conducts. Intrada Special Collection 2-CD set available while quantities and interest remain! 21. Snow Files of the Week: "Suite from The X-Files - Christmas Carol" (1998).
In honor of its 35th anniversary, Rusted Wave and 1984 Publishing, in conjunction with Paramount Pictures, are pleased to release THE NAKED GUN score by renowned composer Ira Newborn, PLUS "The Star-Spangled Banner" (vocals by Leslie Nielsen) and "I'm Into Something Good" (vocals by Peter Noone / written by Carole King). Starring the late, great Leslie Nielsen, THE NAKED GUN is a cult comedy classic and quintessential 80s flick. For the first time on vinyl, this LP is housed in deluxe gatefold packaging and pressed on hot pink opaque vinyl. LP also comes with a 7"x10" Japanese mini-poster! Limited to 500 copies. CD includes 4 bonus tracks not on the LP, plus a 12-page booklet with rare press stills of Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley. PLUS: WAX MAGE (“Condiment Fight Variant” - IYKYK) + Test Pressing (25 copies). Limit 1 Wax Mage per order. Each Wax Mage hand pour record is unique and will vary in appearance. Preorder date at 1:00pm ET: November 20, 2023. Shipping begins 12/8!
