Ab Oktober erhältlich: 20th Anniversary Limited Edition: The Original Movie Soundtrack THE LITTLE POLAR BEAR (2001) - DER KLEINE EISBÄR Unter der Regie von Piet de Rycker und Thilo Rothkirch erschien 2001 der Kinofilm Der kleine Eisbär (englisch: The Little Polar Bear) und verzauberte sofort die Zuschauer mit seinen liebenswerten Charakteren, sowie einer Geschichte rund um Freundschaft und Abenteuer. Grundlage hierfür waren die Kinderbücher von Hans de Beer, die im Kinofilm zu einer großen Story zusammen geführt wurden. Im Mittelpunkt der Handlung stehen der Eisbär-Junge Lars, zahlreiche weitere charmant-kauzige Tiere, die Lars während seiner Abenteuer kennen lernt und das junge Inuit-Mädchen Manili. Zu Lars spannenden Erlebnissen gehört die wachsende, große Freundschaft zu Robby, einer Robbe – die Reise in ein fernes Land aber auch die Begegnung mit einem geheimnisvoll-bedrohlichem schwarzem Schiff. Für die zugehörige Filmmusik konnten die beiden Komponisten Nigel Clarke und Michael Csányi-Wills engagiert werden, die all diese Elemente in einem wunderschönen, packenden Score vereinen konnten. Da gibt es beispielsweise das verspielt-heitere Thema für Lars, welches uns in all seinen Facetten durch den Score begleitet – exotische Melodien für Manili und ihr Volk, die besonders ausdrucksstark im Track Inuit Ritual zur Geltung kommen (Ethnic Flute: Francesca Hanley) – intime Musik, die uns das Staunen von Lars bei seiner ersten Begegnung mit Walen spüren lässt, aber auch bedrohlich-dramatische Klänge, die mitreißend das Sinking of the Black Ship vertonen. Eingespielt wurde der Score mit dem Royal Philharmonic Orchestra unter dem Dirigat von Robin Page. Wir sind sehr stolz, die Musik zum 20. Geburtstag des Films auf Tonträger in limitierter Stückzahl wieder verfügbar zu machen, erstmals inklusive des bisher unveröffentlichten Bonus-Tracks Secret Places. Bei dem Cover fühlt man sich irgendwie wie in einer anderen Zeit.. bin mal gespannt, ob der Score da auch musikalisch mithalten kann. Doch so ein Cover bietet es ja gerade an, dass der Score auch als Vinyl erscheint.

Ranging from evocative impressionism to grand, operatic statements, the score marked the apotheosis of Jerry Goldsmith's symphonic impressionism of the early 1980s and the composer himself ranked it as his finest work for many years. This release features the slightly expanded film score on disc 1 and the original soundtrack album on disc 2. This new 2CD edition adds for the first time two previously unreleased cues and two alternate tracks.
