  2. Monstrous Movie Music veröffentlicht Walter Greenes The Brain from Planet Arous [Die Augen des Satans] & TEENAGE MONSTER The Brain From Planet Arous/Teenage Monster (MMM-1968) proves that dreams can come true. Walter Greene’s amazingly inventive score for the 1957 John Agar/Joyce Meadows B-movie classic is here in amazing fidelity and in its 43-minute entirety. Easily the greatest score for a film about a giant, evil, floating, sex-crazed brain from outer space, the music provides endless fun and incredible artistry. Greene scored the movie without a string section, instead incorporating four saxophones into his powerhouse orchestra. In case this isn’t more fun than your brain can stand, 1957’s Teenage Monster might not be a classic flick, but Greene’s background score can now be heard on its own. This 33-minute soundtrack is an MMM bonus that will help shine a spotlight on an incredibly underrated composer who has never had an album devoted to his work. This Monstrous Movie Music release contains a 20-page liner book discussing all aspects of the music, as well as containing copies of some of the written scores. Striking cover art by the renowned Robert Aragon. 3. Monstrous Movie Music veröffentlicht Nicholas Carras Missile to the Moon [bestie des Grauens] & Frankenstein's Daughter [Die Unheimliche / Frankensteins Tochter] Missile to the Moon & Frankenstein's Daughter (MMM-1970) contains two scores by the marvelous-but-unheralded composer and orchestrator, Nicholas Carras. Although written for two low-budget 1958 science fiction films directed by Richard Cunha, there is a wealth of invention and good, old-fashioned fifties sci-fi fun on this 60-minute CD. Besides soaring electric violin, pummeling Rock Men underscore, scary giant puppet-spider music, lovely melodies for gorgeous Moon maidens, and thundering Frankenstein music, there are bonus cues featuring spacey musical sound effects by the legendary team of Jack Cookerly (Atomic Submarine, The Black Scorpion) and Elliot Fisher. This is the first Nicholas Carras soundtrack ever released, and it contains a 20-page liner book discussing all aspects of the music, as well as containing copies of some of the written scores. It’s blessed with arresting cover art by celebrated space illustrator Vincent Di Fate. 4. Monstrous Movie Music veröffentlicht Leith Stevens Destination Moon [Endstation Mond] Destination Moon (MMM-1967) is the first complete release of Leith Stevens’ classic 1950 soundtrack. Simply one of the greatest outer space scores, these original soundtrack recordings have never been released on CD. The spectacular score totals over 56 minutes, a half-hour more than was released on ten-inch album over 60 years ago! From the composer’s original acetate recordings, this CD includes every drop of Stevens music, including some that was edited from the movie. The disc also contains Clarence Wheeler’s fantastic accompaniment written for the Woody Woodpecker cartoon that’s shown in the George Pal motion picture. This most important science fiction score is finally available so film music fans can revel in its brilliance. This Monstrous Movie Music release contains a 20-page liner book discussing all aspects of the music, as well as containing copies of some of the written scores. 6.
8. Howlin' Wolf Records is very proud to present THE DEAD by British Indian Film Composer and Music Producer Imran Ahmad (composer for the award winning documentary MAYOMI). THE DEAD directed by The Ford Brothers, Howard and Jonathan Ford, is an acclaimed and unique zombie film shot on location in West Africa, which follows the journey of an American mercenary/engineer and an African militia officer as they struggle to survive a zombie pandemic and reconnect with family amidst a world in chaos and turmoil. The music for THE DEAD is a hauntingly, beautiful score composed by Imran Ahmad, rich with percussion, flutes, and acoustic ancestral textures provided by Gambian kora player Jally Kebba Susso with stirring and evocative chants/vocals by Eritrean singer Saba Tewelde. THE DEAD is packaged in a jewel case with full color inserts, featuring an 8-page booklet with beautiful artwork and designs created by visual artist and designer Luis M. Rojas, including notes from the composer Imran Ahmad and biographies for featured artists Jally Kebba Susso and Saba Tewelde. 01. Theme from THE DEAD 2:50 02. The Desert 2:41 03. Evacuation 2:10 04. 9.
  10. Ramin Djawadis Score zur TV-Serie Person of Interest von Jonathan Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight und The Dark Knight Rises) wird laut folgender facebook-Nachricht demnächst auf CD erscheinen. Wahrscheinlich bei Varése und zum DVD-/BD-Start im September.
  11. Film Music Reporter meldet, dass Sony Classical den Score zu LIFE OF PI von Mychael Danna veröffentlichen wird: Ein genauer Termin ist noch nicht bekannt.
  12. Lakeshore Records wird den Score von Marco Beltrami zu dem Drama "The Sessions" rausbringen. Am 16. Oktober als digitaler Download und am 13. November als CD

  14. Kritzerland is proud to present a new limited edition soundtrack: THE GEISHA BOY - Music Composed by Walter Scharf The comedy team of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis was born in 1946. The duo quickly became a hugely popular act. At Paramount they did a string of successful comedies, which, along with their films and nightclub appearances, made them the hottest comedy team working – until 1956, that is, when Dean Martin ended the partnership. Jerry Lewis stayed at Paramount and became one of their biggest stars with his first solo feature, The Delicate Delinquent (1957). That was followed by Rock-a-Bye Baby and The Geisha Boy – both directed by the great Frank Tashlin (Lewis had yet to make his directorial debut – that would happen a couple of years later with The Bellboy). The Geisha Boy is one of Lewis's best films. It has everything, from gorgeous photography (in Technicolor and VistaVision) to huge laughs (there are sequences in the film that are fall-out-of-your-chair funny) to truly touching sequences that never become too maudlin. Tying all of the film's elements perfectly together is the tuneful and great score by Walter Scharf. Scharf became Lewis's go-to composer. Their relationship lasted for years, resulting in great scores for The Sad Sack, Rock-a-Bye Baby, The Bellboy, Cinderfella, The Ladies Man, The Errand Boy, It's Only Money, and, of course, The Nutty Professor. During his long and distinguished career, Scharf received ten Oscar nominations, mostly for his arranging work on such classics as Funny Girl and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. But his original scores for non-Lewis films were terrific and include Ben, Walking Tall, Where Love Has Gone, If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium, Pocketful of Miracles, as well as a host of TV scoring for such classic shows as The Man From U.N.C.L.E, Bonanza, Mission: Impossible, The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau, The Love Boat and many, many others. Scharf was one of the great composers of comedy films. He knew what to score and what to leave unscored, and he had the uncanny ability to give frivolity and lightness some unexpected depth. The Geisha Boy is a seriously gorgeous score with a memorable main theme and beautiful variations on it that capture every mood and emotion, making the comedy even funnier and the pathos even more touching. Comedy scoring is an art, and Scharf was as good an artist at it as anyone. The Geisha Boy had an LP release on Jubilee Records. That LP version is presented here in its entirety, from the original stereo album masters. The original session scoring tapes for the film were missing material, but we include here everything that was on them – between them and the album master, it's pretty much everything complete. Walter Scharf is seriously underrepresented on CD, and it's a treat to be able to issue the first CD release of one of his classic Jerry Lewis films – in fact, the first CD release of any of the classic Golden Age Jerry Lewis films. Here's to many more. The Geisha Boy is limited to 1500 copies only. The price is $19.98, plus shipping. CDs are in stock and will ship within a day or two. 15. CD kommt Anfang Oktober.
Quelle: Film Music Reporter
