Nach Fantastic Mr. Fox der zweite Animationsfilm für Desplat:

Alexandre Desplat has been hired to score the upcoming Dreamworks Animation feature Rise of the Guardians. The movie is based on the book series The Guardians of Childhood by William Joyce (Meet the Robinsons) who is also co-directing the film with Peter Ramsey. The movie follows a group of heroic childhood legends, including Santa Claus (voiced by Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and Jack Frost (Chris Pine) who teaming up to stop Pitch the Boogeyman (Jude Law) from sending the world into eternal darkness. Joyce has also co-written the film’s script with David Lindsay-Abaire (Robots, Rabbit Hole). Christina Steinberg (Bee Movie) and Nancy Bernstein are producing the project and Guillermo del Toro and Michael Siegel (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) serve as executive producers. Rise of the Guardians marks Desplat’s first major animated feature tentpole project and also his first movie for Dreamworks.

Ich dachte schon an ne Fortsetzung der OWLS OF GAHOOL...schade, aber Desplat is ne gute Wahl, grad erst recht, wenn man dann nix von RCP zu hören bekommt.

das ist doch mal was schönes. Kein Powell aber dafür Desplat. Fantastic Mr. Fox fand ich jetzt nicht so umwerfend, bin aber trotzdem gespannt, was er dazu liefert. RCP hätte ich jetzt zwar auch nicht schlimm gefunden, aber Desplat ist da schon ne Ecke geeigneter.

Off to AIR Lyndhurst for the last two sessions of percussion overdubs for Alexandre Desplat's score to "Rise of the Guardians". It's been an extraordinary 10 days recording with the incomparable LSO AD's emotional,melodic epic score. The music harkens back to the animation scores I worked on some 20 years ago: melodic, harmonic, witty and moving. I can't recall a score that I've worked on( recently at least) where all involved-from musicians to filmmakers-were so thrilled and moved. Kudos to the creative team at Dreamworks for unleashing a new "musical Guardian" in Alexandre Desplat! Grateful to have been a part. Back to L.A. tomorrow.

Geht auf jeden Fall in die Richtung von Desplats Harry Potter Arbeiten nur etwas verspielter. Auch den Song von Renee Fleming hat Alexandre wohl komponiert, zumindest klingts stark nach ihm. Machen Lust die Samples.

Gerade erst gesehen. Höre gerade mal rein. Sehr feines Material und ein bisschen so, wie ich mir Desplat an der ein oder anderen Stelle öfter mal gewünscht hätte (von dem wenigen, was ich von ihn kenne).. etwas offensiver in der Darbietung.

Ein wirklich toller Score von Desplat. Der Score ist auch nich ganz so verhalten orchestriert wie sonst oft bei Alexandre,ich finde diesen hier jedenfalls wesentlich kräftiger und farbenfroher wie die Potter von Desplat.
