Also coming up for Beltrami is the drama The Homesman directed by Tommy Lee Jones who also stars in the film alongside Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, James Spader, Hailee Steinfeld, John Lithgow, and Tim Blake Nelson. The movie follows a man who teams up with a pioneer woman to escort three insane women across the prairie back to civilization. Jones has co-written the screenplay with  Kieran Fitzgerald and Wesley Oliver and is also producing the project with Michael Fitzgerald (The Pledge) for Ithaca Pictures, Peter Brant, and Luc Besson for EuropaCorp. Beltrami has previously collaborated with Jones on the feature The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and HBO’s The Sunset Limited. The Homesman is expected to premiere in 2014.

btw, denke mal dass Beltrami auch FANTASTIC FOUR reboot macht... der Regisseur hat bisher noch keinen Komponisten gehabt (hat ja erst einen Film gemacht, CHRONICLE) und der Cutter, der meistens dann nen Komponist anschleppt hat schon 3 Filme mit Beltrami gemacht... wer wettet?

Transporting the women by covered wagon to Iowa, she soon realizes just how daunting the journey will be, and employs a low-life drifter, George Briggs (Tommy Lee Jones, who also directed), to join her. The unlikely pair and the three women (Grace Gummer, Miranda Otto, Sonja Richter) head east, where a waiting minister and his wife (Meryl Streep) have offered to take the women in. But the group first must traverse the harsh Nebraska Territories marked by stark beauty, psychological peril and constant threat.

 

Oscar-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (The Hurt Locker) has composed a moving and beautiful score with delicate flavors of the setting and era.

 

Roadside Attractions will begin rolling out THE HOMESMAN on November 14.
