Un Uomo da Rispettare/Senza Movente
Ennio Morricone

Quartet Records in collaboration wit Gruppo Sugar and GDM reissues two excellent Morricone suspense scores from great 70s crime films.

Un uomo da rispettare (aka The Master Touch) stars Kirk Douglas as a master thief who plans to retire after a final heist, going up against the most professional security system of the era. By recruiting a young acrobat (Giulano Gemma) to supply the perfect alibi, our hero is in for a surprise when loyalties shift within his team. Featuring the haunting flugelhorn solo by Cicci Santucci, the 11-and-half minute heist music is among Morricone's best suspense scores - the album also includes experimental electronic textures which are used to take down the security system.

Senza movente (aka Sans mobile apparent) is a 1971 French crime thriller about an investigator (Jean-Louis Trintignant) looking into the murders of seemingly unrelated people, all shot down by a mysterious assassin. Morricone score perfectly captures the paranoia taking over the French Riviera with an eerie main theme adorned with the whistling of Alessandro Alessandroni and a distinctive mellophone solo by Maria Verzella. An excellent 70s thriller score, Senza movente offers tuneful diversions for the investigation, including two powerful montage cues which appear in the film with no overlapping dialogue or effects.

While both scores have been released previously, this pairing brings out the best from both of them. Newly remastered by Claudio Fuiano from first generation master tapes, the package includes 16-page liner notes by Gergely Hubai discuss the films and the scores as well as include a discography note about how different releases compare to each other.

Lady Lucifera (Polvos Mágicos)

Stelvio Cipriani

Quartet Records in collaboration with Gruppo Sugar presents the world premiere release of Stelvio Cipriani Spanish horror comedy score.

José Ramón Larraz’s Lady Lucifera (aka Polvos mágicos) tells the story of Sulfurina (Carmen Villani), the Devil’s Daughter has a special gift to remain young forever until she keeps sacrificing her husbands to Satan. She lives in a strange mansion haunted by the unlikeliest of ghouls: a gay ghost who literally lives in the closet, voodoo dolls coming alive, a midget who enjoys hiding under skirts, the dead rising from the grave and even a talking skull... The peace of this ghastly family is shaken up by the arrival of possible suitors.

The goblinesque music by Stelvio Cipriani focuses on the oversexed female protagonist and features a piano, a guitar and some soft synth textures lending a delicately spooky atmosphere to the opening. The theme is mostly linked to the guests’ failed attempts at romancing Sulfurina (or the other female guests), but it later gains a more genuine emotional response when the heroine seemingly gives up her evil ways in her new marriage...

Mastered by Claudio Fuiano, the premiere release includes an 8-page booklet with lush colourful stills capturing the odd guests of Sulfurina's castle, plus liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the film, the composer and the score.

Typisch Focks! :)

l-amant.jpg

The first 50 copies purchased directly from our online store will be autographed by the composer, Gabriel Yared (offer limited to 1 autographed copy by customer).

New remastered and expanded edition.
62 minutes of music, including 20 minutes of music never released before.
8-page CD booklet with liner notes by Sylvain Pfeffer.

In collaboration with Pathé Production, Music Box Records presents the remastered and expanded 25th anniversary edition of Gabriel Yared’s score to the 1992 drama film L'Amant (The Lover), starring Jane March and Tony Leung, and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud (The Name of the Rose, Wolf Totem).

Published in 1984, L'Amant was one of the biggest literary successes of Marguerite Duras. Released on January 22, 1992, the film adaptation was a box office success in France, becoming the seventh-highest-grossing film of the year. It was nominated for the 1992 Academy Award for Best Cinematography. At the 1993 César Awards in France, it was nominated for seven awards, winning in the category of "Best music written for a film" for Gabriel Yared's score.

The timeless score swings between delicately sensual pieces and more abrupt compositions. It evokes two aspects of the girl’s universe: her carnal desire, and the unsettling discovery of her sexuality. The main theme is used in various arrangements all through the movie, mainly played by strings, a solo clarinet and with very delicately-played piano notes. Gabriel Yared also wrote the source music of the film.

L'Amant was issued on CD around the time of the film’s release, it included 42 minutes of music organized into 16 tracks. The current release has been fully remastered from the recording session tapes and adds about 20 minutes of brand new material organized into 24 tracks. The sound has been also greatly improved.  The 8-page booklet by Sylvain Pfeffer discusses the film and the score based on an original interview with the composer and the director.

BITTER HARVEST
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed and Conducted by Benjamin Wallfisch

An epic new score from Benjamin Wallfisch, whose most recent scores include Hidden Figures, A Cure For Wellness and Gamba. This is a sprawling, exceptional work that gave the composer an epic story to explore. Absolutely one of the best scores of the year so far.

Based on one of the most overlooked tragedies of the 20th century, Bitter Harvest is a powerful story of love, honor, rebellion and survival as seen through the eyes of two young lovers caught in the ravages of Joseph Stalin’s genocidal policies against Ukraine in the 1930s. As Stalin advances the ambitions of communists in the Kremlin, a young artist named Yuri (Max Irons ) battles to survive famine, imprisonment and torture to save his childhood sweetheart Natalka (Samantha Barks ) from the “Holodomor,” the death by starvation program that ultimately killed millions of Ukrainians. Against this tragic backdrop, Yuri escapes from a Soviet prison and joins the anti Bolshevik resistance movement as he battles to reunite with Natalka and continue the fight for a free Ukraine.

Filmed on location in Ukraine, this epic love story brings to light one of the most devastating chapters of modern Europe. The stellar cast also includes Barry Pepper, Tamer Hassan and Terence Stamp. Director George Mendeluk co wrote the screenplay with Richard Bachynsky Hoover based on Bachynsky Hoover’s original story.
Roadside will release the film in the U.S. on February 24, 2017.

USS INDIANAPOLIS: MEN OF COURAGE
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed and Conducted by Laurent Eyquem

A wonderful new score by Laurent Eyquem. This will be very exciting news for those who know Laurent from his exceptional scores for Copperhead (2013) and Momentum (2015).

For USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, Eyquem delivers a powerful 1945 set score. Stirring orchestra writing combined with a few jazz and dance hall pieces evoking the period, make this an epic new work from one of film music's brightest new names.

Nicolas Cage, Tom Sizemore and Thomas Jane star in the harrowing tale of real life American heroes shipwrecked in shark infested waters in the waning days of World War II.

Die Überlebenden trieben lange im Wasser und die meisten von ihnen wurden Opfer von Haien, die nach und nach auftauchten.

Timemaster_cover-600.jpg

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the premiere soundtrack release of TIMEMASTER, featuring music composed by Harry Manfredini (FRIDAY THE 13TH, SWAMP THING, HOUSE, THE OMEGA CODE) for the 1995 family scifi adventure film written and directed by James Glickenhaus (THE EXTERMINATOR, THE SOLDIER, SHAKEDOWN), starring Jesse Cameron-Glickenhaus, Pat Morita, Joanne Pacula, Duncan Regehr, Michael Dorn, Michelle Williams and Zelda Rubinstein.
Released in 1995, TIMEMASTER is a time-travel adventure concerning an organization of aliens who send teams of “collectors” across space and time to gather other life forms which they will use as contestants or pawns in life-or-death virtual reality games. Led by The Chairman (Michael Dorn), these collectors have targeted Earth as their next source for players and pawns. TIMEMASTER is an ambitious story that spreads through various time periods as Jesse (Jesse Cameron-Glickenhaus), the son of the collectors’ most recent gathering of contestants joins forces with a former collector turned rebel (THE KARATE KID’s Pat Morita) to fight back against the Chairman and rescue Jesse’s parents. Joanna Pacula and Duncan Regehr co-star as Jesse’s Mom and Dad, with popular actress Michele Williams in one of her first feature film roles as Annie, Jesse’s love interest.

Harry Manfredini, best known for scoring the first ten FRIDAY THE 13TH horror films (1980-2001), composed the music for TIMEMASTER. One of Manfredini’s business partners and a long-time associate, Jerry Lambert, was the line producer on TIMEMASTER and he suggested to Glickenhaus that Harry be considered for the film’s music. His score for the film is a mixture of four recurring motifs and ten standalone musical set-pieces, an effective combination of dramatic underscore and action-driving fortissimo composition. Because Jesse visits many different eras of past and future, Manfredini had the chance to really stretch his sonic muscles and compose music for many different periods and genres.

Born in Chicago, Harry has spent most of his life in music. While living in the Midwest, he worked as an arranger and performer. He also earned a Bachelor of Music degree from DePaul University and a Master of Arts degree from Western Illinois University, where he subsequently taught theory, orchestration, and conducting. Harry moved to New York to pursue his doctorate at Columbia University. Upon completion of his doctoral courses, the opportunity arose for him to further his longtime dream of a career in film music. The years of classical training and the twenty years in the popular music scene (he plays great sax) combined with a good sense of drama to make him a natural in film music.

Harry has scored over one hundred films. His major feature credits include the highly successful FRIDAY THE 13TH series for Paramount Pictures, and now New Line Cinema. SWAMP THING for UA/Embassy, HOUSE, A breakaway hit for New World Pictures, and DEEP STAR SIX and ACES-IRON EAGLE III for Carolco Pictures. These films characterize his style as an action, suspense, and thriller composer but Harry's credits also include SPRING BREAK, a good-time rock and roll summertime success for Columbia Pictures and MY BOYFRIEND'S BACK, a teen comedy for Touchstone Pictures. Harry's dark, jazzy, dramatic scores have been heard in A GUN, A CAR, A BLOND, and HIDDEN AGENDA. Harry's score to WISHMASTER helped make it the number one independent film of 1998, and he repeated in 1999 with his score to THE OMEGA CODE, the largest grossing independent for 1999.
Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to announce the premiere soundtrack release of TIMEMASTER, featuring music composed by Harry Manfredini, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland. The booklet contains liner notes written by author Randall Larson featuring the participation of the composer.

TIMEMASTER is a limited edition release of 1000 units. TIMEMASTER will begin shipping the week of  March 13th, 2017. The first 100 copies ordered through the website will include a booklet autographed by composer Harry Manfredini.

“The danger. The rush.
The victory.”

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the premiere soundtrack release of FAST COMPANY, featuring music and songs produced by Fred Mollin (FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES, TEKWAR, FOREVER KNIGHT) for the 1979 racing drama directed by David Cronenberg (SCANNERS, THE FLY, DEAD RINGERS, CRASH, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE), starring William Smith, Claudia Jennings, John Saxon, Nicholas Campbell, Don Francks, Cedric Smith and George Buza.
Released in 1979, FAST COMPANY follows the men of a racing team sponsored by international oil company Fast Co as they compete on the racing circuit, travelling across Canada, occasionally crossing over into the United States. Aging drag racing star Lonnie "Lucky Man" Johnson (William Smith) is the star of Fast Company. Lonnie's protégé Billy "The Kid" Brooker (Nicholas Campbell) competes in the Funny Car class, trying to make a name for himself. Fast Co team boss Phil Adamson (John Saxon) just wants to make sure that they can keep Lonnie’s car running and not go overbudget while using Lonnie’s name to help sell Fast Co product to the public. Lonnie’s direct competition is Gary "The Blacksmith" Black (Cedric Smith). As tensions escalate between Adamson and Lonnie, Adamson decides to fire the whole team and hire Black to take over as the new driver for Fast Co, which sets off a chain of events that will ultimately prove to be fatal for some of the people involved.

FAST COMPANY is a forgotten gem from the late 1970’s. At the time, director David Cronenberg was just beginning to establish his career as a unique storyteller, primarily making horror films in Canada such as SHIVERS and RABID, grounded in the reality of horrifying situations that might be caused by a mutation, a parasite or certain kinds of medical conditions. What the world didn’t know at the time is that the director was also a huge car racing fan and FAST COMPANY gave him the opportunity to focus his attention to detail on a different kind of story.
Fred Mollin was hired by producer Michael Lebowitz, a longtime friend, to provide music and songs for FAST COMPANY. Mollin wrote the songs and composed the score; Mollin’s brother Larry provided lyrics for three of the songs, including the title number. Mollin had been successful at the time as a record producer and also as a single/songwriter. Lebowitz was looking for music for the film that would be evocative of Bruce Springsteen. In the studio, Mollin assembled a great band to play with. Steve Lukather, who went on to fame as lead guitarist for Toto, and is considered to be one of the world’s greatest electric guitar players. Mike Porcaro, who was also a part of Toto after the first bass player left. Ed Green on the drums, Mollin on guitar. And John Jarvis played all the keyboards, Finally, Dan Ferguson, son of composer Alynn Ferguson, played electric rhythm guitar, a popular studio musician at the time. He played the guitar for the BARNEY MILLER theme. Michael Stanley of the Michael Stanley Band performed vocals on two songs for the film, ‘Fast Company’ and ‘Let Us Run Wild’. The music was mixed and recorded at Westlake Audio by Mick Guzauski, one of the great mixers of rock music. FAST COMPANY was Mollin’s first scoring assignment.

Fred Mollin first came into international prominence as a record producer in the late 70's, producing numerous albums and singles, including the Grammy award-nominated ‘Sometimes When We Touch’ by Dan Hill. In the early 1980's, Mollin based in L.A. and Toronto to start a 17 year run as a composer for television and film. His work has run the gamut from high tension (CBS-CBS TV's Gemini award-nominated child abuse drama LIAR LIAR and CBC's LITTLE CRIMINALS, the award winning drama about young offenders) through fanciful flights of adventure (William Shatner's TEKWAR and USA Network's BEYOND REALITY) to the darkest reaches of the medium (Paramount's FRIDAY THE 13TH television series and movies, and MGM-UA's THE OUTER LIMITS). His work on such cult series as Tri Star's FOREVER KNIGHT and hit mainstream series such as Fox's BEVERLY HILLS 90210 and Paramount's HARD COPY were an integral part to the success of these classics of TV entertainment.

Mollin also parlayed his songwriting, especially from his Disney years of experience, to be one of the main composers and lyricists for songs on the award-winning Disney Channel series, HANDY MANNY. Mollin continues to work in the film/TV arena, especially in music supervision and direction, as well as writing title themes and songs.
Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to announce the premiere soundtrack release of FAST COMPANY, featuring music and songs produced by Fred Mollin, mastered from the composer’s own elements by James Nelson at Digital Outland. The booklet contains liner notes written by author Randall Larson featuring the participation of the composer.
FAST COMPANY is a limited edition release of 1000 units. FAST COMPANY will begin shipping the week of  March 13th, 2017. The first 100 copies ordered through the website will include a booklet autographed by composer Fred Mollin.

was du immer über andere meinst zu wissen, was sie dachten....schon erstaunlich. vielleicht gefiel ihm der film ja tatsächlich, denn der trailer sieht durchaus ansprechend aus.
