Hustle

The Longest Yard

Quartet Records and Paramount Pictures are glad to present the world premiere release of the very cool score composed by Frank De Vol (Hush…Hush… Sweet Charlotte, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Flight of the Phoenix, The Dirty Dozen and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?) for Robert Aldrich’s neo-noir 1975 film Hustle, starring Burt Reynolds, Catherine Deneuve, Eddie Albert and Ernest Borgnine.

Hustle is about two weary and bitter LAPD detectives (Reynolds and Paul Winfield) who are assigned to investigate the death of a young woman whose body is found on an isolated beach. They conclude, with the support of the coroner's report, that the victim, a hooker and known drug user named Gloria Hollinger (Deneuve), committed suicide using pills.

Frank De Vol was a brilliant film composer, a master of melody and orchestration, and a longtime collaborator on most of Robert Aldrich’s films since they began working together in the early sixties with Baby Jane. For Hustle, De Vol provides a terrific score dominated by a great noir love theme, suspense and tension cues, funky sounds, a kind of soft jazz, and dramatic music, always melodic and richly harmonized. One of De Vol’s best effort in film scoring, it has remained unreleased until now. Remixed from the 2″ 16-track session tapes maintained in pristine condition in the Paramount vaults.

As a bonus, we have included the short score for The Longest Yard (1974), another De Vol-Aldrich-Reynolds-Paramount collaboration. For this cult sports comedy film about a workaholic convict who recruits a group of fellow prisoners to play football against their guards, De Vol composed another catchy tune as a main theme, along with some brief underscore cues and adaptations of famous Americans marches. Sadly, the session tapes of this soundtrack are long missing, so the only source we could use was the mono stems, beautifully restored by Chris Malone for this release.

The package includes a 16-page full-color booklet with detailed liner notes by Tim Greiving discussing the films, the scores, and the brilliant collaboration between Robert Aldrich and Frank De Vol.

la-conquete-comme-un-chef.jpg

World Premiere CD release.
Limited Remastered Edition of 300 units.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Nicolas Magenham.

In collaboration with Gaumont, Music Box Records presents the world premiere CD release of two Nicola Piovani French scores: La Conquête (The Conquest, 2011) and Comme un chef (Le Chef, 2012).

Born in Rome in 1946, Nicola Piovani is one of the stars of Italian film music. But he also has a special relationship with France. He gave an Italian touch to these two apparently “purely French” projects: on the one hand, a satire of French domestic policy (La Conquête, directed by Xavier Durringer); on the other hand, a film about French cuisine (Comme un chef, directed by Daniel Cohen).

In Durringer’s film, Piovani’s music is used above all to highlight the comedic aspect of the French political world. Piovani composed a baroque counterpoint, close to the twisted circus music (reminiscent of the work of Nino Rota), which would evoke the theatrical quality of politics and give it a quasi-burlesque dimension. In Cohen’s film, Nicola Piovani’s music reflects the director’s humane point of view in this playful and innocent melody where a honky-tonk piano seems to be conversing with a cheerful trombone.

For these two soundtracks, Nicola Piovani reaches his target again, showing at once all his humour, his talent for creating melodies and orchestrations, and his emotional impact based on simple yet powerful effects. This remastered edition features the same content as the digital releases. The CD comes with an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Nicolas Magenham, discussing the films and the scores.

state_of_grace.jpg

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Universal Music Group and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, is glad to present the premiere release of the complete score composed, orchestrated and conducted by Ennio Morricone for State of Grace, the 1990 cult mafia-drama film directed by Phil Joanou, starring Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright, Ed Harris, John Turturro, John C. Really, Burgess Meredith and Joe Vitarelli. The legendary Morricone won an Oscar for The Hateful Eight and has composed many other outstanding scores, including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Sacco and Vanzetti, Days of Heaven, Cinema Paradiso, Malena, En mais fais ce qu’il te plait and many others.

State of Grace is about Terry Noonan (Penn), who returns home to New York's Hell’s Kitchen after a ten-year absence. He soon hooks up with childhood pal Jackie (Oldman), who is involved in the Irish mob run by his brother Frankie (Harris). Terry also rekindles an old flame with Jackie's sister Kathleen (Wright). Soon, however, Terry is torn between his loyalty to his friends and his loyalties to others.

Ennio Morricone offers one of his best efforts for a Hollywood film, with an unforgettable main theme, a beautiful love theme, tension cues, dramatic, violent music that is also sometimes epic. The score is mainly dark and fatalistic, in a style that the Italian maestro would continue one year later in his Oscar-nominated score for Bugsy.

The soundtrack album of State of Grace released on compact disc by MCA in 1990 was quickly out of print. The album, remixed and edited by Morricone and his sound engineer Sergio Marcotulli for listening purposes, omitted several important passages, in addition to some cues that were not used in the final cut. More importantly, the mix made for the film was completely different from that of the album, with a positioning of the orchestra that offered a different perspective of the score. This expanded release has been newly mixed and mastered by Mike Matessino from the 3-track masters preserved in mint condition in the MGM vaults. On CD 2 we have included the hard-to-find MCA album prepared by the composer, freshly remastered—and it has never sounded better.

The package includes a 16-page full-color booklet with liner notes by Tim Greiving, discussing both film and score and featuring quotes from director Phil Joanou.

Sky_Pirates_600.jpg

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the soundtrack release of SKY PIRATES, featuring music composed and conducted by Brian May (MAD MAX, THE ROAD WARRIOR, ROAD GAMES, PATRICK) for the 1986 science fiction adventure thriller directed by Colin Eggleston (LONG WEEKEND),  written by John D. Lamond (STAGE FRIGHT aka NIGHTMARES), starring John Hargreaves, Meredith Phillips, Bill Hunter, Alex Scott, Simon Chilvers and Max Phipps.
Released in 1986, SKY PIRATES follows the adventures of Air Force Lieutenant Dakota Harris (Hargreaves)  as he is called to a secret airbase to begin a discreet mission: fly an American plane to Washington D.C. by way of Bora Bora. On board the plane,  a trio of unexpected passengers including Major Savage (Phipps), a former adversary of Harris’, genial Reverend Mitchell (Chilvers), who specializes in archeological mysteries, British General Hackett (Scott) and the plane’s flight crew, and it’s cargo, a mysterious wooden crate that tends to glow when its disturbed. Not to mention, numerous boxes of Kentucky Whiskey. Enroute to their destination, the glowing box seems to attract a supernatural storm which sends the plane far off course, crashing into a kind of Bermuda Triangle known as the Sea Of Lost Ships. Five men escape in a life raft as the plane sinks, taking its mysterious cargo to the bottom of the ocean and thus begins the quest to recover the contents of the crate.
While the spirit of the film was meant to evoke RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and ROMANCING THE STONE, audiences largely stayed away from SKY PIRATES. With the quest of the film’s characters launching them throughout the South Pacific, Lamond facilitated filming mostly on location at such exotic locales as Bora Bora, Tahiti, Easter Island, and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The film’s period was aided by the use of a number of historical aircraft, including Douglas C-47 Skytrain, North American B-25 Mitchell, CAC Mustangs, and Grumman Mallard. The movie was filmed between May and June 1984 with post-production running through December of that year, although the finished film sat on the shelf for some time before it finally achieved release in 1986. Despite its lavish production design and entertaining storyline, it was a major flop, earning back only a fraction of its production budget.  The picture was much more successful in Europe, where it was called DAKOTA HARRIS.
If any element of SPY PIRATES can be found not to be wanting, it’s Brian May’s boisterous and colorful musical score, which gives the movie a thoroughly exuberant dynamic. SKY PIRATES is immersed in bold gestures, large orchestral adventure, and heroic measures that are expressed in energetic and exciting terms. Recorded at Allen Easton Studios in Melbourne with a 62-piece orchestra, May’s SKY PIRATES score is powerful and quite thrilling; based on melody, mystery, and motif, it buttresses the film very well and more often than not subverts the movie’s logistical failures with the diversion of thrilling adventure.
Born in Adelaide in 1934, Brian May (no relation to Brian Harold May of Queen) was one of the first composers to achieve international acclaim as an Australian composer and was best known as the composer of MAD MAX and THE ROAD WARRIOR (MAD MAX II). May received his musical training as a pianist, violinist and conductor at the Adelaide Elder Conservatorium. He joined the Australia Broadcasting Company in 1957, where he formed the ABC Adelaide Big Band, an ensemble that performed all manner of light music for broadcast, and May became a leading figure in Australian light music as a result.  He moved to Melbourne in 1970 to arrange and conduct the ABC’s Melbourne Show band. Moving into film music in a period of time when Australia’s film industry was just beginning to take its place among international film circles, May composed such notable film scores as PATRICK, HARLEQUIN, THIRST, THE SURVIVOR, RACE FOR THE YANKEE ZEPHYR, ROAD GAMES, CLOAK AND DAGGER, DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR, MISSING IN ACTION 2, STEEL DAWN, DR. GIGGLES, FREDDY’S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHT MARE and BLINDSIDE. He won the Australian Film Institute Award for best original score with MAD MAX; many other awards followed, including the Golden Award from the Australian Performing Rights Association. He continued to score films until 1993, composing music for more than 30 films and many hours of television, most of which he orchestrated himself. Sadly, the composer passed away in 1997 at the age of 63.
Previously released on compact disc by 1M1 Records in the early days of the compact disc format and very hard to find over the years, Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring SKY PIRATES roaring back from the past, newly remastered by Digital Outland. The booklet includes exclusive liner notes written by author Randall Larson.

SKY PIRATES is a limited edition release of 1000 units.

Expanded and remastered edition supervised by Claudio Fuiano.
35 minutes of music, including 20 minutes of unreleased music.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Nicolas Magenham.

In collaboration with EMI Music Publishing France, Music Box Records presents the remastered and expanded edition of Michel Colombier’s score to the 1974 drama film Le Hasard et la Violence (Chance and Violence), starring Yves Montand and Katharine Ross, and directed by Philippe Labro (The Inheritor, Hunter Will Get You).

This drama film stars Yves Montand (The Wages of Fear, Grand Prix, Z, Jean de Florette) and Katherine Ross (The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Stepford Wives). It tells the love story between a criminologist (Montand) and a fellow doctor (Ross). For the movie’s cold atmosphere, Michel Colombier composed a romantic score with dramatic variations on the same theme and beautiful writing for strings. The title song is performed by Drupi.

Supervised by Claudio Fuiano, the greatly expanded score for Le Hasard et la Violence has been fully remastered from the recording session tapes and includes previously unreleased tracks.

The package includes an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Nicolas Magenham, discussing the film and the score.

World Premiere CD Release.
Expanded edition.
58 minutes of music, including 3 previously unreleased tracks.

In collaboration with The Oligarchs Productions and Hippocampus, Music Box Records presents the premiere CD release of the acclaimed French TV series for Le Bureau des Légendes (The Bureau) composed and performed by Rob (Maniac, Seuls, Made in France).

Created by Éric Rochant and produced by Canal+, the plot of this political thriller television series revolves around the lives of agents of the DGSE (General Directorate of External Security), France's principal external security service.

Rob’s thematic approach to Le Bureau des Légendes is electronic pulses, cool keyboard melodies, tumultuous percussion rhythms, urgent electronic throbs, eerie piano and above all a strong sense of thematic determination with a romantic overtone.

For this premiere release of Rob’s Le Bureau des Légendes score on compact disc, the album features a selection of 28 tracks from the three seasons, including three bonus tracks which did not appear on previous vinyl or digital releases.

l-homme-en-colere-un-papillon-sur-l-epau

World Premiere CD release.
Remastered and expanded edition.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Gilles Loison.

In collaboration with Claude Bolling and Gruppo Sugar, Music Box Records is pleased to present on the same CD the expanded original motion picture soundtracks of L’Homme en colère (The Angry Man, 1978) and Un papillon sur l’épaule (Butterfly on the Shoulder, 1979), composed and conducted by Claude Bolling. French actor Lino Ventura stars in both movies.

L’Homme en colère tells the story of Romain Dupré who visits Canada in search for his son, involved in criminal activities. The film is directed by Claude Pinoteau (La Boum, La Septième Cible) and stars Lino Ventura, Angie Dickinson and Laurent Malet. Claude Bolling composed a score with eclectic moods between a very romantic theme and several source cues.

Un papillon sur l’épaule tells the story of Roland Fériaud who, knocked out after witnessing a murder, wakes up in a private hospital and finds himself plagued with nightmares. For the film directed by his long-time collaborator Jacques Deray (La Piscine, Borsalino), Claude Bolling composed a very short score based on a shady theme for saxophone and piano. He also wrote a second theme, played on the guitar by Alexandre Lagoya.

This present edition features the remastered original LP program for L’Homme en colère (previously issued by RCA), including 2 unreleased tracks, and the complete but short score for Un papillon sur l’épaule. The package includes an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Gilles Loison, discussing the films and the scores.

Kritzerland is proud to present the world premiere CD release you’ve all been waiting for:

SHARKANSAS WOMEN’S PRISON MASSACRE

Composed and Conducted by Chuck Cirino

What can we say about Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre that hasn’t been said a thousand times before?  When the SyFi Channel called writer/producer/director Jim Wynorski and asked him, “Do you have anything like Sharknado?” being the resourceful and clever fellow he is he immediately made up something with a shark – and instantly pitched Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre.   Shortly thereafter the film was made on a very long production schedule – fifteen days.  Jim Wynorski doesn’t fool around, which is why he’s made more movies than Martin Scorsese.

The fact is, if you’re a fan of exploitation films, you undoubtedly know who Jim Wynorski is.  For Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre he, of course, went to his composer of choice, Chuck Cirino – they’re a team, like Hitchcock and Herrmann and Williams and Spielberg and Abbot and Costello.  Jim comes from a time when making movies was nothing but a fun adventure, and Chuck understands that sensibility perfectly.  Chuck is a fine composer and understands these films and knows just what kind of music they require – as Jim Wynorski says, “Heartfelt and pulse-pounding melodies.”  It’s truly a fun score.  And any movie that stars both Traci Lords and Dominique Swain is worth seeing.

So, here is the world-premiere CD release of Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre, something you won’t want to be without.  Mastered by the great James Nelson, it’s fun, it’s irreverent, it’s Sharkansas!

Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre is limited to 500 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.   The first 100 orders will receive copies signed by Chuck Cirino and Jim Wynorski and the shark (well, maybe not the shark) as well as actresses Dominique Swain and Cindy Lucas.

CDs will ship by the last week of July, but we’ve actually been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date

MovieScore Media presents the ultimate John Williams homage with George Shaw’s score for ?Way to the Rebellion - A Star Wars Fan Film. Produced by Wong Fu Productions, the story is set alongside the timeline of?A New Hope and focuses on what events make average people follow the Rebellion instead of the Empire. By building on ?Star Wars lore, including the search for a crystal that could be used for creating lightsabers, ?Way to the Rebellion expands on the trilogy’s world - and the same can be said about George Shaw’s score that is an ode to the brilliance of John Williams.

"When the director, Wesley Chan first told me about this story, I went nuts" says composer George Shaw about the project. "And boy did we text each other right away after seeing Rogue One and finding out that it also dealt with kyber crystals. I also loved that this story runs parallel to events in A New Hope that culminate in the Death Star’s destruction of Alderaan. I even made reference to the music that happens in the film at the exact moment of Alderaan’s destruction. This was a fan film that I had always dreamed about composing, paying great attention to emulating the incredible orchestral style of John Williams, and developing some original themes of my own." -MOVIESCORE MEDIA

Expanded and remastered edition.

8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Gilles Loison.
Limited Edition of 750 units.

After the previous CD releases of the television works of Georges Delerue (Les Visiteurs, L’Homme qui revient de loin, Le Mythomane and L’Éducation sentimentale, Thibaud ou les Croisades), Music Box Records is very pleased to explore once more the television scope of Georges Delerue's music and presents the complete score to the 1980 TV drama series Les Chevaux du soleil (Horses of the Sun, 1980) directed by François Villiers (TV series Les Chevaliers du ciel).

Adapted from Jules Roy's historical novel of the French presence in North Africa, the TV series follows the destiny of two families, the Bouychous and the Parises, from the conquest of Algiers in 1830 to the Independence in 1962.

For this lavish mini-series, Georges Delerue established the various moods of his epic-scale score with his unrivalled melodic and lyrical style. In addition to the war themes and the picturesque ones, the composer chose to highlight the moving fate of some characters for full orchestra with colorful music and exotic touches.

This expanded edition, fully remastered from the original recording sessions, features 40 minutes of previously unreleased music and includes an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Gilles Loison, discussing the TV series and the score.

les-as-de-la-jungle.jpg

8-page CD booklet with liner notes by Gérard Dastugue.
51 minutes of music, including 3 bonus tracks.

In collaboration with TAT Productions, Music Box Records is pleased to present on CD the original motion picture soundtrack of the feature-length 3D animation Les As de la Jungle (The Jungle Bunch) composed and orchestrated by Olivier Cussac.

Les As de la Jungle (in French theaters in July 26, 2017), directed by David Alaux, is the latest spin-off from the hit children series about a gang of misfit animals on a mission to protect their fellow beasts. The film tells the story of Maurice, the Great Tiger Warrior, along with the Jungle Bunch, his team of righters of wrongs, who has been maintaining peace and order over the jungle for years until they come across their most dangerous opponent yet, Igor the koala whose sole aim in life is to annihilate the whole of the jungle.

In 2011, the film company asked Olivier Cussac, a newcomer to the French film music scene, to write the score to the animated made-for-TV film The Jungle Bunch To the Rescue. The TV series won an International Emmy Award in Category Kids: Animation in 2014 and is aired in more than 200 territories.

For the feature film, Olivier Cussac provides an exciting and vigorous orchestral score with choir, offering a wide array of musical styles and genres: Hollywood style adventure music featuring exciting action music and melodic themes. The score refers to the best music written by Michael Giacchino, Lalo Schifrin and Michael Kamen with a nod to creators of many TV scores Mike Post and Pete Carpenter.

The lively score has been recorded by the Budapest Symphonic Orchestra and conducted by Laurent Petitgirard.

Miracle_Mile_DDR_600.jpg

‘There are 70 minutes to the end of the world.
Where can you hide?’

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the soundtrack release of MIRACLE MILE, featuring music composed by Tangerine Dream (SORCERER, THIEF, RISKY BUSINESS) for the 1989 thriller written and directed by Steve De Jarnatt  (CHERRY 2000), starring Anthony Edwards, Mare Winningham, Mykelti Williams, John Agar, Lou Hancock, Kelly Jo Minter, Kurt Fuller, Denise Crosby, Robert DoQui, O-Lan Jones, Claude Earl Jones, Earl Boen, Diane Delano, Brian Thompson, Jenette Goldstein and Raphael Sbarge. MIRACLE MILE is presented on two CDs, newly remastered, with previously unreleased music and exclusive liner notes.
MIRACLE MILE begins as a sweet love story between Harry (Edwards) and Julie (Winningham) and then suddenly takes a left turn when Harry answers a ringing payphone outside of his favorite coffee shop. The distraught voice on the other end of the line blurts out that he’s in a missile silo and the launch codes for the missiles have been entered. The bombs launching in retaliation from the other side will hit in about 70 minutes. When word gets out, gradually at first and then countrywide, panic sets in and Harry must seek a means to get out of town, but first he needs to find Julie. The film becomes a race against time to reunite the couple and find a way to reach safety before it’s too late.
MIRACLE MILE was the product of Cold War-instigated fears that writer/director Steve De Jarnatt had grown up with during the late ‘50s/early ‘60s. Those nightmares germinated in his imagination and eventually coalesced into the story told in MIRACE MILE. Unlike other films that took nuclear holocaust as their starting point to focus on a story of post-apocalyptic survival and recovery, De Jarnatt was more interested in exploring what would happen in the hours just before the missiles landed and how people would be affected. The Miracle Mile is a retail district in central Los Angeles located on a 1.5-mile stretch of Wilshire Blvd. Initially developed in 1928, the Mile was home to trendy shops, the historic La Brea Tar Pits, Hancock Park, and an impressive assortment of historic Art Deco buildings. By the 1980s it had become fairly run down, with some of its most cherished structures giving way to apartment complexes; but an influx of important museums and office centers injected new life into the district giving it a renewed cultural interest that would provide a unique background for the film. Setting the film on L.A.’s real Miracle Mile was always a part of De Jarnatt’s central concept.
When he was writing the screenplay for MIRACLE MILE, De Jarnatt was listening repeatedly to the pioneering German electronica band Tangerine Dream’s first film score, SORCERER (1977), impressed by its progressive mix of rhythm, drones, and minimalism. By 1989, Tangerine Dream consisted of founder Edgar Froese and classically trained keyboardist Paul Haslinger, who had joined the band in 1985, replacing Johannes Schmoelling. Founding member Christopher Franke had left the band in 1987, leaving Tangerine Dream as a duo when they were invited to score MIRACLE MILE. Prior to 1988, most of the band’s film scores were composed and recorded in founding member Christopher Franke’s Berlin studio. But with Franke’s departure, they relocated to Froese’s studio in the Viennese countryside of Austria. During the composing process, De Jarnatt flew to Vienna to work with the duo in Froese’s studio working with the duo to refine the score. From the moment the film begins to play out in real time, the beat of the music creates through its insistent drive an almost subliminal but palpable tension, increasing in exigency as the time runs down.
MIRACLE MILE was originally released on compact disc in 1989 on Peter Baumann’s Private Music label nearly 30 years ago. Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring MIRACLE MILE back into the marketplace on 2 CDs, newly remastered by Digital Outland and including previously unreleased music. The booklet includes exclusive liner notes written by author Randall Larson, with the participation of composer Paul Haslinger and writer/director Steve De Jarnatt. The original soundtrack cues on Disc 1 represent the score as delivered by Tangerine Dream to the director, essentially as heard in the film’s mix. These tracks have never been released commercially before. Disc 2 contains the original album version, which is distinctly different in tone and texture from the actual score as heard in the movie.

Special Note: The first 100 Copies purchased directly from Buysoundtrax.com will be autographed by composer Paul Haslingerr and Director Steve De Jarnatt

MIRACLE MILE is a limited edition release of 1000 units. MIRACLE MILE will begin shipping the week of  August 14th, 2017.

Time_Walker-Cover-600.jpg

Dragon’s Domain Records presents the world premiere soundtrack release of TIME  WALKER, to be distributed  through buysoundtrax.com. TIME WALKER features music composed by Richard Band for the 1982 science fiction/horror film directed by Tom Kennedy, written by Tom Friedman and Karen Levitt, from a story by Jason Williams and Tom Friedman, starring Ben Murphy, Nina Axelrod, Kevin Brophy, Robert Random, James Karen, Sam Chew, Jr., Austin Stoker, Darwin Joston, Shari Belafonte, Antoinette Bower, Gary Dubin, Greta Blackburn, Melissa Prophet and Jack Olson as the Time Walker.

Released in 1982, TIME WALKER is an ambitious hybrid of classic monster movies like the MUMMY and marooned alien tales like E.T., sprinkled with tropes of the popular slasher films of the day like HALLOWEEN. The story is set in motion when University professor Douglas McCadden (Murphy) unearths an unusual sarcophagus hidden in King Tutankhamen’s tomb. McCadden returns to his campus in Southern California with the sarcophagus and opens it with the assistance of his archaeology students.  Translating the cartouche on the lid of the sarcophagus, he learns that the occupant is named Ankh Venaris, which, according to his assistant, Susie (Axelrod), means ‘noble traveler’.  McCaden will learn later that Ankh Venkaris is ‘not from around here’. He’s an extraterrestrial traveler who was injured during a crash landing in ancient Egypt during King Tut’s reign. After a first contact that goes horribly wrong, Ankh Venaris was sealed into King Tut’s tomb to keep the populace safe. The plot begins to thicken when technician Peter Sharpe (Brophy) takes high-powered x-rays of the body, which has the unforeseen side effect of reviving the mummified alien while also activating a formerly dormant flesh-eating fungus that coats the mummy’s bandages. Later, Sharpe’s x-rays reveal a cache of spherical crystals hidden in the sarcophagus’ hidden compartment. Sharpe removes the crystals and takes a new x-ray to conceal his theft. Unknown to Sharpe, the crystals are a power source for Ankh Venaris and essential to his plans to return to his home. While Sharpe tries to profit on the crystals either by trying to sell them or using them to charm the co-eds out of their clothing, the mummy goes on a violent shambling rampage as he tries to retrieve them.

Composer Richard Band became involved with TIME WALKER through an acquaintanceship with music supervisor David Franco, who suggested Band to producer Dimitri Villard. For TIME WALKER, Band favors orchestral instruments, enhancing them with a mix of electronic sounds in what would later be recognized as musical sound design.  Most of the music in the film, up until its final climax and resolution, consists of a mix of atonal and fluid musical sound design that mixes new orchestral recordings with synthesized tonalities and textures. But Band does pull the electronics into the background at times to allow for some ferocious action scenes that are symphonically-driven.
Richard Band was born in Los Angeles on December 28, 1953. He is the son of film producer-director-writer Albert Band (THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE – screen adaptation), brother to producer-distributor Charles Band and uncle to young rock star Alex Band of the rock group ‘The Calling’. Shortly after his brother Charles had formed his first movie company, Richard decided to take a break from music and began to work as an assistant director on some of his films. He then went from assistant director to production manager, to associate producer and finally producer on over 13 films. Richard has since gone on to score over 75 feature films and many television productions including multiple episodes of STARGATE SG-1, WALKER: TEXAS RANGER and Disney's SING ME A STORY series.

Richard has composed the music for more than 10 interactive computer/video games over the years and has had many soundtracks that have been released of his film works. Richard has also scored many documentaries including the award-winning series’ MOST DECORATED, BRUTE FORCE and WEAPONS OF WAR and has also contributed much music to other series’ like THE REAL WEST, CIVIL WAR JOURNALS and BIOGRAPHIES. His experience over the years has brought him to record over 22 film scores with internationally renowned orchestras such as THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, THE LONDON SYMPHONY and THE ROME PHILHARMONIC. He has also had his music recorded in Prague, Romania, Croatia and Munich. In more recent years, Richard has also enjoyed scoring a variety of family and comedy films for Viacom and Paramount Pictures as well as hundreds of animated vignettes for the WB kid's network all of which were scored with orchestra. His musical talents can also be heard on several  amusement park rides including ALIENS - THE RIDE as well as several Vegas venues. Among the many interactive games Richard has scored the music for STAR TREK, WATERWORLD, CASPER, STONEKEEP, DECENT UNDER MOUNTAIN, CLAYFIGHTER and INVICTUS: THE SHADOW OF OLYMPUS.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to unearth and present the soundtrack to TIME WALKER for the very first time. TIME WALKER has been produced from the composer’s original elements by James Nelson at Digital Outland, including liner notes written by author Randall Larson.

TIME WALKER is a limited edition release of 1000 units. The first 100 copies ordered trough the buysoundtrax.com website will be autographed by the composer at no extra charge.

Doggone_Hollywood_600.jpg

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com presents the original motion picture soundtrack for A DOGGONE HOLLYWOOD, featuring music composed by Chuck Cirino for the 2017 children’s adventure film directed by Jim Wynorski, written by J. Brad Wilke, Josh Holt and Jim Wynorski, starring Paul Logan, Cynthia Rothrock, Jaret Sacrey, Walker Mintz, Dilan Patton, Jonathan Tysor, Jayden Hedden, Jolie Ledford, Zachary Cirino, Cindy Lucas, Corey Landis, Michael Gaglio, Lauren Parkinson, Shadoe Stevens, Michael Paré and Just Jesse The Jack as Murphy and the voicework of Steve Altman. A DOGGONE HOLLYWOOD continues the longtime collaboration between filmmaker Jim Wynorski and composer Chuck Cirino, which includes films such as CHOPPING MALL, DEATHSTALKER II, NOT OF THIS EARTH, TRANSYLVANIA TWIST, RETURN OF SWAMP THING and A DOGGONE CHRISTMAS.

In A DOGGONE HOLLYWOOD, Murphy (Just Jesse The Jack) returns for another adventure following A DOGGONE CHRISTMAS! This time, he is a famous canine TV star from a weekly series, DOGGIE 911, who can’t seem to get a fair shake from his human bosses. On set one day, Murphy gets the chance of a lifetime when some of his preteen fans hack into his limousine and set him free. Murphy finds loving shelter in the the home of Peter and Sydney, something he’d never known as a superstar. Meanwhile, the studio boss has offered a large reward for his safe return, which sets the local sheriff and some unscrupulous ‘agency’ men in pursuit of everybody’s favorite ‘canine cash machine’! But the kids are craftier than the adults bargained for and a great chase ensues through the countryside, down a zip-line and across a railroad to catch Murphy and bring him back to the studio. Can the kids teach Murphy’s greedy bosses that a little love is what their TV star needed all along?

Chuck Cirino did not start his career as a composer, but rather as a programmer in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania for a Public Access cable TV station, where he learned how to create TV shows by himself, without a crew. In his spare time, he experimented with the station’s video equipment and created a series of genre productions that allowed him the opportunity to learn how to incorporate special effects into his work. After relocating to California, Cirino transitioned into directing high-end special effects television commercials.  His first work as composer was for the 1980 cult film GYPSY ANGELS, which starred Vanna White and Richard Roundtree.  Since then he has scored films for Roger Corman, directed music videos for bands like Earth, Wind & Fire and The Dickies’ KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, and has recorded over 40 music soundtracks for feature films including SORCERESS, RETURN OF THE SWAMP THING, HARD TO DIE, TRANSYLVANIA TWIST, and many others. Most recently, he has scored THE SEA BEAST, MEGACONDA, CRY OF THE WINGED SERPENT and CAMEL SPIDERS. In addition to composing the music for A DOGGONE HOLLWOOD, Chuck is also one of the film’s producers, the cinematographer and the visual effects designer!

Chuck has worked as a producer, director, filmmaker, videographer, animator, special effects technician, editor, and composer. He executive produces and directs WEIRD TV, a television series featuring weird Americans, bizarre news, unbelievable events and outlandish skits.  Chuck’s credits also include executive producer and director of the Sci Fi Channel projects, WORLDWIDE WEIRD and WARPED IN SPACE, and BABERELLAS, an independent Sci Fi feature distributed by Xenon Pictures.

Quartet Records and Cristal Group presents the soundtrack album of the new collaboration between director François Ozon and composer Philippe Rombi, one of the most prestigious collaborations in European cinema after twelve successful films together (Dans la maison, Frantz, Swimming Pool, 5X2, Angel, Ricky).

L’amant double, presented at the most recent Cannes Film Festival, is based on the novel Lives of the Twins by Joyce Carol Oates, and stars Marine Vacht, Jérémie Renier and Jacqueline Bisset. The plot is about Chloé, a fragile young woman, who falls in love with her psychoanalyst. A few months later she moves in with him, but soon discovers that her lover is concealing a part of his identity.

Philippe Rombi’s score is intense, atmospheric, exciting, vibrant and dark—a mixture of orchestral and electronic textures. It was also the last score recorded at the legendary Dabout Studio in Paris, before it was closed some months ago.

The album includes the entire Rombi score plus three songs performed by A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Linda Scott and Valerie Carr.

Quartet Records presents the new soundtrack album of multi-award-winning composer Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, La piel que habito, Julieta, The Two Faces of January) for the Argentinian political thriller-drama directed by Santiago Mitre, starring Ricardo Darín, Dolores Fonzi, Daniel Giménez Cacho and Christian Slater.

The film takes place at a summit for Latin American presidents in Chile, where the region’s geopolitical strategies and alliances are under discussion. Argentinian president Hernán Blanco endures a political and family drama that will force him to face his own demons. He’ll have to come to two decisions that could change the course of his public and private life forever: one regarding a complicated emotional situation with his daughter, and the other, the most important political decision of his career.

Alberto Iglesias provides an intense, exciting and highly vigorous score with thick orchestral colors—lyrical, dark and rhythmic, including an ironic and macabre waltz as a main theme. Performed by The English Session Orchestra under the composer’s baton, and recorded at Air Studios in London, the album contains the entire score presented in four conceptual suites, compiled by the composer for an enjoyable home listening experience.

scusi-lei-e-favorevole-o-contrario.jpg

Digitmovies is releasing the complete edition CD of the OST by Piero Piccioni for the comedy “Pardon, Are You For Or Against?” (original title: “Scusi, lei è favorevole o contrario?” aka “El gran amante”).

This CD is the result of passionate and unceasing research, selection and restoration of a soundtrack which absolutely deserved to be rescued and preserved. All of this was possible thanks to the mono master tapes from the original recording session which have survived until today in good condition. Unfortunately, the take of the "Opening Titles" was very damaged and although we tried everything to save it, the sound is not the same quality as the rest of the CD. Originally the label Parade had released an EP single (45PRL 5022) with the songs “Per noi due soli” ("For the two of us") and "Shake and soda." It was not until 1998 that a wide selection of brand new material came out for the first time on CD in Japan, but our edition is the final one. Piero Piccioni composed one of the most brilliant OSTs of his long career with this album. Bruno Nicolai conducted beautifully and the Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni chime in with their renowned talent. M ° Piccioni composed three recurring themes. “Per noi due soli” ("For the two of us just") is a romantic orchestral love theme for Tullio and the female world that revolves around him. "Sambinha” is a wild samba that adds a dash of Latin American flavor and makes Roma seem like Rio. It’s uplifting and danceable with strings and rhythms that are a pure joy to listen to. Piero Piccioni is very versatile with music. This OST is packed with fabulous lounge style pieces including "Shake and Soda", for the scene where Alberto Sordi and Silvana Mangano are dancing in a club (in the film version a man's voice was added,  but it was not available at the recording session). We are also adding the re-recording in stereo of the love theme that the M° Piccioni recorded especially for a compilation. For those who tremendously enjoy Alberto Sordi and Piero Piccioni as much as we do, this CD is intended to be tribute to the art of two film titans, immortal in the hearts of film fans and music lovers.

made-in-italy.jpg

Digitmovies is releasing for the absolute first time on CD, the complete version of the OST by Carlo Rustichelli for the film “Made in Italy” (aka “Estos italianos” – “À l'italienne”).

Carlo Rustichelli is one of the titans of film music. For "Made in Italy,” he composed one of the best OSTs of his long and fabulous career. Originally RCA had released a promotional LP (SP 8015) containing eleven tracks in mono with a total time of only 22:14 minutes. For our CD (69:01 min) we were able to access the master assembled for the LP and the original mono master tapes from the recording session which allowed us to release the entire soundtrack, including previously unreleased material.

With a stellar cast dominated by beauties like Virna Lisi, Sylva Koscina, and Catherine Spaak, Maestro Rustichelli created a beautiful Mediterranean mood inspired by fabulous settings in Rome, Amalfi, Ravello, Matera, Naples, Venice, Turin, Florence, Sicily and beautifully photographed by Ennio Guarnieri. The main theme is “La ballata del lavoro” ("The Work Ballad") a shake sung by a male voice and performed by the orchestra of Carlos Pes and accompanied by the Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni (Tr.1). The composer reprises this theme with wistful instrumental versions (Tr.3, Tr.6, Tr.8) alternating with folk style music which is a bit funny and a bit sad,  and dominated by the organ and typical instruments used by Rustichelli (Tr.2, Tr.4, Tr.9). There is no shortage of lounge pieces like Tr.5 and Tr.11 where Maestro Rustichelli hints at James Bond, and Tr.24, a wild shake sung by Raul for the scene where Catherine Spaak is dancing in the disco. As bonus tracks we’ve also included four musical sequences with the sound technician’s announcements directly from the recording session. This CD is a tribute to the immortal art of Charles Rustichelli.

Newly remastered, expanded and remixed edition.
Over 30 minutes of music never-before released.
20-page CD booklet with liner notes by Daniel Schweiger.

In collaboration with MGM, Music Box Records proudly presents the remastered and expanded CD release of John Du Prez’s (The Meaning of Life, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) original motion picture score to the iconic 1988 comedy A Fish Called Wanda, starring John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin, and directed by Charles Crichton.

The hugely successful American-British heist comedy film A Fish Called Wanda, co-written by former Python John Cleese and the veteran Ealing Comedy director Charles Crichton (The Lavender Hill Mob), was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, winning Best Supporting Actor for Kevin Kline. Cleese and Palin won BAFTA Awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for their performances.

With the participation of composer John Du Prez, Music Box Records presents for the first time the complete score to A Fish Called Wanda, newly re-mixed and carefully remastered from multi-track session tapes.

The soundtrack was issued on LP and CD in 1988, it included 42 minutes of music organized into 21 tracks. The current release adds about 31 minutes of brand new material organized into 47 tracks. This Music Box release also features several previously unreleased tracks (alternates, unused cues and demos) and two unused versions of Wanda’s love song, one performed by Rick Driscoll and the other written and performed by John Cleese.

The package includes an 20-page illustrated booklet featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Daniel Schweiger and new comments by John Du Prez, producer Steve Abbot and Michael Palin on their collaboration with John Cleese and Charles Crichton. This brand new album presentation celebrates the 30th anniversary of the classic comedy in 2018 and the new 2017 Blu-Ray special edition release from Arrow Films.

World Premiere CD release.
Remastered edition supervised by Claudio Fuiano.
8-page CD booklet with liner notes by Gergely Hubai, including Pino Donaggio's statement.

The first 40 copies purchased directly from our online store will be autographed by the composer, Pino Donaggio (offer limited to 1 autographed copy by customer).

In collaboration with Gruppo Sugar, Music Box Records presents a previously unreleased giallo score composed by Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Body Double) and conducted by Natale Massara.

Written and directed by Giovanna Gagliardo, Via degli specchi (Street of Mirrors) is a 1983 thriller about a female investigator uncovering the death of a young student. While all evidence points to suicide, our hero finds disturbing new clues and a key witness who might put a different spin on the events. Even worse, it seems her husband had an affair with the victim and may have more to do with her untimely passing. Unfortunately the investigation leads to more deaths.

The music for Via Degli Specchi follows in the footsteps of the composer's acclaimed, erotically-charged De Palma thriller scores such as Carrie, Dressed to Kill and Blow Out. In this score, Donaggio follows a ''less is more'' approach with a piano-harp duet focusing on the growing bond between the investigator and the witness. As two female characters clash with tragin results, Donaggio accentuates the relationship with some intimate and carefully crafted themes. The CD also includes two original songs from the picture.

Supervised and mastered by Claudio Fuiano, this present edition features the original album program which was slated to be released on LP, plus a host of bonus tracks. 8-page liner notes by Gergely Hubai discuss the film and the score and also includes original comments by Pino Donaggio. Limited Edition of 300 units.
