Quartet Records and Warner Bros. Records presents the premiere CD release of Francis Lai’s catchy, lovely score for Peter Sellers vehicle The Bobo, directed by Robert Parrish in 1967, also starring Britt Ekland, Rossano Brazzi and Adolfo Celi.

Once you've seen one singing blue matador, you've seen them all! Or have you? Warner Bros' movie marked the dream match-up of husband and wife team Peter Sellers and Britt Ekland, made shortly before their divorce. Ekland stars as a naive beauty who gets her way with men - and her latest dream is a sports car! Sellers is a singing matador who can catch his big break if he beaks the girl's heart. But will he be able to do so?

The powerhouse soundtrack of The Bobo was written by Francis Lai shortly before his Oscar-winning success of Love Story (also available from Quartet Records.) The Bobo capitalizes on Lai’s undeniable talent at writing infectious tunes, including two songs recorded especially for the album. The assembly also includes two brilliant songs composed by George Martin (The Fifth Beatle himself) and performed by Sellers in character as the Singing Matador!

Mastered by Chris Malone from original album masters courtesy of Warner Bros. Records, the 8-page booklet contains liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the movie, the composer and its music.

Quartet Records and Universal Music Group presents premiere CD release of Hugo Friedhofer's majestic score for The Sun Also Rises, based on Hemingway's classic story.

Produced by Darryl F. Zanuck in 1957, The Sun Also Rises falls in line with other Hemingway adaptations of the era (such as Fox's own The Snows of Kilimanjaro). Starring Ava Gardner, Tyrone Power, Mel Ferrer, Errol Flynn and a very young Robert Evans as a matador, the film is a character study of the lost generation, taking place in France and Spain, capturing candid images of the controversial bullfights of the era.

The music by Hugo Friedhofer is divided into two sections based on the locations. The Paris sequences are heavier on the underscoring with a few chansons providing local color. The second half of the story is more focused on traditional Spanish music with Alexander Courage arranging local music for the street scenes. The guitar parts were performed by soloist Vicente Gomez, who also wrote one of the cues.

The CD contains the complete LP program, which accounts for most of the score. The first half covers the Paris scenes, while the Spanish sequences were represented by longer suites. Restored and mastered by Chris Malone from elements courtesy of UMG, the CD includes as a bonus track the main title without narration (as it was presented on the LP). The 8-page booklet by Gergely Hubai discusses the movie, the composer and its music.

super_furball.jpg

Quartet Records and Moviscore Media presents the energetic adventure score of IFMCA Award winning Finnish composer Panu Aaltio.

Based on the award-winning children’s novel by Paula Noronen, Super Furball tells the story of Emilia whose chance encounter with a guinea pig gives her special powers which she must learn to use. The classic superhero origin story is given a furry twist and an empowering message as Emilia not only uses her gift to stand up to bullies at school, but also solves an environmental crisis that poses a danger to her home in Helsinki.

Aaltio's score is a fun twist on the superhero genre with strong thematic material for our furry protagonist, as well as warmer, more pastoral material for the main heroine who must solve domestic issues in her human form. There's also great action writing for the numerous action sequences, including "Learning to Fly" where our hero first gets accustomed to her unusual powers.

The eight-page booklet features liner notes by Gergely Hubai with quotes from Panu Aaltio himself, discussing the score.

95.jpg

Quartet Records and Moviscore Media presents the emotionally charged sports epic score of IFMCA Award winning Finnish composer Panu Aaltio.

Directed by Aleksi Mäkelä, 95 tells the story of the 1995 Ice Hockey World Championship. Hosted in neighbouring Sweden, the Finnish national team had to go the extra mile in order to win its first ever championship, beating the Swedish team 4 to 1. The movie tells the ups and downs of the historical weekend of May 1995 – a date that no Finnish hockey fan can ever forget.

The thematically rich score starts its powerhouse performance with "Training" which is about the team effort, and it's used to drive the character development of the players while "A Common Destiny" plays the ensemble theme that we use to tie together all these different dramatic stories. The composer has some comedic fun in 'The Royal Castle and the Three Goons', a theme for three guys who are so sure that Finland will lose that they travel to Sweden to act like idiots instead of watching the match.

The eight-page booklet features liner notes by Gergely Hubai with quotes from Panu Aaltio himself, discussing the score.

To celebrate the 60th birthday of Pascal Gaigne, the composer with whom we have worked the most (23 albums and counting!), Quartet Records is proud to present, in collaboration with Bad Taste Ltd, Solisterrae Music, AVEK, Sonora and The Finnish Film Foundation, a luxurious box set that compiles the six films on which Finnish director Rax Rinnekangas and Gaigne have thus far collaborated.

Rax Rinnekangas is a disciple of the most personal European auteur cinema, with a fascination for such artists as Andrei Tarkovsky, Theo Angelopoulos and Victor Erice. His filmography can be divided into two different approaches, which often overlap and create a crossover style that can be described as “documentary fiction.”Since 2011, Rinnekangas has directed fictional feature films that are often based either on novels or treat themes such as literature and other arts. Rinnekangas’ films are often international productions. The most important feature films by Rinnekangas are Journey to Eden (2011), Water Marked (2012), Last Life of Lucifer (2013), Theo's House (2015), Circle & Stones (2016) and The Last Bookshop of the World (2017). French composer Pascal Gaigne composed the scores for each of them, creating a variety of moods that range from the sacred to the profane—from spirituality to jazz and songs. The long sequences conceived as a communion between image and music have made the collaboration between Rinnekangas and Gaigne one of the most interesting, refreshing and celebrated in current European cinema.

This box set includes six DVDs with the six films of Rinnekangas-Gaigne, all remastered, as well as three 3 CDs with more than 80 minutes of previously unreleased music (including for the first time the scores of The Last Bookshop of the World and Circle & Stones) and a 72-page book with texts and essays by journalist and writer Oti Rodríguez Marchante, film director Miguel Angel Barroso and film music critic Fréderic Torres.

New remastered and expanded edition.
66 minutes of music, including 20 minutes of music never released before.
12-page CD booklet with liner notes by Sylvain Pfeffer.

In collaboration with Pathé Films, Music Box Records presents the remastered and expanded 30th anniversary edition of Philippe Sarde’s score to the 1988 adventure film The Bear directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud (The Quest for Fire, Wolf Totem).

The Bear was released on 19 October 1988 in France, and 27 October 1989 in the United States. The film was a huge success in France. Adapted from the novel The Grizzly King by American author James Oliver Curwood, the screenplay was written by Gérard Brach (The Tenant, The Name of the Rose). The film tells the story of Youk, a playful and clumsy orphaned bear cub who travels through the preserved landscapes of British Colombia in the late 19th Century and befriends an adult male grizzly. This budding friendship is threatened by the unrelenting chase of two hunters. There are no dialogues in the film: sounds and atmospheres, lights, landscapes and music carry the meaning of the story instead of language.

For the score, Jean-Jacques Annaud wished the music to be built around a theme that would be easy to remember and chose the Barcarolle from op.37a of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Seasons. Philippe Sarde decided to transform this simple and touching melody for piano into a great symphonic piece. He also composed various original themes, oscillating between orchestral denseness and more intimate moments. Carlo Savina conducted the London Symphony Orchestra. The album also includes bonus tracks with previously unreleased variations on Tchaikovsky’s theme, recorded by Philippe Sarde at the time of the production, and played by great soloists such as Keith Harvey (cello), Michael Davis (violin), John Williams (guitar) and Hubert Laws (flute).

Assembled by Édouard Dubois and supervised by the composer, this newly remastered album features the same program as the previous vinyl and CD editions released in 1988; but rather than presenting this content as suites, the album offers new editing choices and a new order to ensure the best possible listening experience. The 12-page booklet features exclusive liner notes by writer Sylvain Pfeffer discussing the film and the score with new comments by Philippe Sarde and Jean-Jacques Annaud.

Original Motion Picture Soundtracks: LE BATTANT / PILE OU FACE / L’INTRÉPIDE / ANTOINE ET SÉBASTIEN / L’AFFAIRE DOMINICI

World Premiere CD Release. 3-CD set.
16-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Nicolas Magenham.

In collaboration with EMI Music Publishing, Gruppo Sugar and Musiques & Solutions, Music Box Records presents a 3-CD set featuring five French soundtracks composed between 1973 and 1983: Claude Bernard-Aubert’s L’Affaire Dominici (The Dominici Affair) composed by Alain Goraguer (Fantastic Planet), Robert Enrico’s Pile ou Face (Heads or Tails) composed by Lino Léonardi, Jean-Marie Périer’s Antoine et Sébastien composed by Jacques Dutronc and François Rauber, Jean Girault’s L’Intrépide composed by Raymond Lefèvre (The Troops of St. Tropez) and Alain Delon’s Le Battant (The Fighter) composed by Christian Dorisse and supervised by Michel Colombier.

This first box set Rare Soundtracks – Volume 1 puts the spotlight on iconic actors (Alain Delon, Jean Gabin, Jacques Dutronc, Gérard Depardieu…), talented directors (Robert Enrico, Jean-Marie Périer, Jean Girault…) and brilliant screenwriters (Daniel Boulanger, Michel Audiard…). The five films presented here – mostly thrillers and comedies – may not be the most famous ones in their category, but they have the merit of highlighting a certain spirit, that of “quality” popular French cinema. Although they are not François de Roubaix, Michel Legrand or Philippe Sarde, they have been able like them to create very specific musical universes and to write melodies that deserve to be properly appreciated and valued.

The present 3-CD edition has been fully remastered from the session tapes and includes a 16-page booklet with liner notes by Nicolas Magenham.

World Premiere CD Release.
8-page CD booklet with liner notes by Gergely Hubai.

In collaboration with MovieScore Media, Music Box Records is pleased to present the premiere CD release of the score to the 2017 thriller film Kaufman’s Game (2017) composed by French composer Philippe Jakko (Allies, Le Cœur en braille aka Heartstrings).

Written and directed by Helier Bissell-Thomas, Kaufman’s Game tells the story of  Stanley (Jye Frasca), a young man who dreams of becoming a champion boxer despite the fact his physical build makes him unsuitable for such heavy workload. When a stranger approaches him outside the gym with the offer of a specially produced steroid, Stanley gets drawn into the increasingly more violent operations of a powerful organization, while unwittingly entering into a series of tests designed to prove his mettle.

“The music had to be eerie, ominous, mysterious, with tension as a modern film noir,” explains Philippe Jakko about the project. “In order to keep an anxiogenic ambiance,  I used unusual harmonies, atonal moments, glissandi, quarter tones; harmonics. But I didn’t want it to sound like an horror soundtrack, the music has to be sometimes cold, other times it needed to be warmer. I also used traditional leitmotif techniques, such as giving Stanley a soft piano arpeggio or a Moog synth for the Mafia guys.” The score uses a small ensemble of strings, horns, electronic synths, cristal baschet, vintage organ, programmings and a few parts for cello, played by soloist Eve-Marie Caravassilis.

The 8-page booklet features liner notes by Gergely Hubai, discussing the film and the score, based on an original interview with the composer. Limited edition of 300 units.

TEACUP TRAVELS: DISCOVERY THROUGH ADVENTURE Since the launch of Teacup Travels in 2015 on BBC’s channel CBeebies, Great Aunt Lizzie has been around the world and back again, wooing audiences with her spectacular stories of long ago and far away. And whether you’re five or sixty-five, Lizzie weaves a tale so well you believe you’re really there with Charlotte, Elliot and Lokesh trekking across the ancient world.

Imagine if every time you visited Great Aunt Lizzie on your way home from school, she sent you off on an adventure back into the mists of time. Sipping tea, Charlotte, Elliot and Lokesh listen as Lizzie spins another yarn, her words so enchanting they can’t help imagining themselves long ago and far away. And as their imaginations take flight, the ancient world springs to life in storybook colours and the young adventurers stride out into the world as it used to be; among the temples of Ancient Greece, the mountains of Edo Japan, the watery world of the Vikings and the forgotten cities of the Mayan Empire they run into hapless aristocrats, meditating monks, bumptious warriors and old retired hunters selling street food.

Teacup Travels is a unique blend of fictional adventure, bringing history to life for 4 to 6-year olds – the show was an immediate hit attracting UK preschool audiences in excess of half a million and remaining in the top ten children’s programmes for the much of its first run. After its 2016 launch in Australia, this popular show was also at number one ‘down-under’.

Julia Bond, BBC Children’s Independent Executive says, “Teacup Travels is a lovely collaboration between museums, who are experts in their own field of archaeology, and creative storytelling. Through Charlotte and Lokesh we experience a lovely collection of stories wrapped up in the comforting voice of Great Aunt Lizzie, played by Gemma Jones.”

The CBeebies hit children’s TV series ‘Teacup Travels’ was created by the Edinburgh based TV and Film production company Plum Films. It was produced by Micky MacPherson and Simon Parsons and is based on an original idea by Anthony Bibby. Rasmus Borowski’s versatility as a film composer shows best in his sparkling compositions of classical orchestra music as well as energy driven rock-scores or beautiful string quartets. His most famous work is the melodic and innovative Filmscore to the successful BBC-Series “Teacup Travels”. He composed the music for TV Movies like “1000 Mexicans” as well as for short films like “Meat the Campbells” and “The Dead Meat”. His acting work is best known from “Star Wars – The Old Republic” where Rasmus lends his voice to the Sith Warrior in the German version of the game.

Rasmus Borowski was born in 1974 in Hamburg, Germany. At the age of four he made his first appearance as a singer in a recording studio and started playing guitar when he was 7. In 1998 / 2002, he took the Degree Course for Pop Music at the Hamburg University for Music and Theatre. He completed Composition Masterclasses by Academy Award-Winning Composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek and Japanese Academy Awardee Shigeru Umebayashi.

Alexius Tschallener lives and works in Switzerland as a composer and producer of music in many genres but with a focus on classical orchestral works and movie scores. He is a lecturer in music for Film, Theatre and Media at the Zurich University of Arts and he is also in the international jury of the Global Film Music contest Oticon’s Faculty. Alexius grew up in a musical environment and received his musical education in the subjects of piano and church organ. He has taken part in the productions of many international classical artists, including Prof. Francisco Araiza (Mexico City Opera), Noëmi Nadelman (Zurich Opera) and Javier Camarena (Metropolitan Opera New York)

Original Music Soundtrack from the Popular Children’s TV Series
Composers Rasmus Borowski and Alexius Tschallener have created a score of delightful, gorgeous, colourful and memorable orchestral miniatures.

Ende August wird die von Juan Angel Saiz und mir zusammen produzierte Rustichelli-CD mit den beiden Scores LE STAGIONI DEL NOSTRO AMORE (1966) und IL PADRE DI FAMIGLIA (1967) auf Saimel Records erhältlich sein:

image.png.046c83019360c0c3dc7c33a0e86871dd.png

Hier der Pressetext:

Saimel Records proudly presents on this CD the world premiere release of two haunting scores by Carlo Rustichelli which were written in 1966 and 1967 for two quite different films which both dealt with the transformation of the Italian society during the economic boom of the mid 1960s and the loss of post-war ideals and values – one in the form of a gloomy introverted drama, the other as a sarcastic melancholic comedy.

LE STAGIONI DEL NOSTRO AMORE (1966) was directed by Florestano Vancini and had an excellent cast of Italian and French actors with Enrico Maria Salerno, Anouk Aimée, Jacqueline Sassard, Gian Maria Volonté and Gastone Moschin. It is a poignant analysis of a middle-aged communist intellectual (Salerno) desperately on the search for his identity after his personal life has collapsed and his beliefs in communist politics have been shattered. Vancini uses the individual case to mirror in it the sentimental and ideological crisis of an entire generation which has lost its former socialist convictions and given in to tearful resignation and complacent withdrawal.

Rustichelli´s score for the most part illuminates the psychological state of mind of the main character by contrasting two quite different evocative themes which are related to the different time phases in which the film takes place: the wailing jazzy theme for saxophone, trumpet and piano with its melancholic variants mirrors Vittorio´s loneliness and disillusionment whereas a lovely nostalgic “memory theme” is mostly heard during the flashback scenes. Rustichelli´s highy emotional score enhances the individual sequences, fits the picture like a glove and manages to link the past and the present with its memorable themes.

The second half of our CD is devoted to Rustichelli´s music for IL PADRE DI FAMIGLIA (1967) which was already the fourth collaboration between the composer and the director Nanni Loy. In this rather bitter comedy about the troubled lives of an idealistic couple of architects Nino Manfredi brilliantly portrays the unsuspecting husband Marco who slides from one awkward and absurd situation into another whereas former MGM musical star Leslie Caron plays his caring, self-sacrificing wife Paola. The supporting cast consists of Ugo Tognazzi and of the French Bond girl Claudine Auger as Manfredi´s secret lover.

The core of Rustichelli´s music is a charming romantic waltz tune which conveys the happiness of the couple Marco and Paola with warm strings and added electric organ which gets used in many variations according to the mood of the individual sequences of the film. Although the waltz theme and its fragments dominate the score, there is also a more introspective, sultry saxophone theme and in contrast to the romantic material a march-like agitated string ostinato with a few piano interpolations which describes unrest and agitation.

In the case of LE STAGIONI DEL NOSTRO AMORE we had access to the mono master tapes from the Sugar Music archives whilst those for PADRE DI FAMIGLIA had been recorded and preserved in stereo.

The CD will be available end of August and an can already be pre-ordered on the Spanish Rosebud website:

Paul_Chihara_Cover_V3b_1024x1024.jpg?v=1

“I’ve always been interested in music and in movies, since a very early age,” said Japanese-American composer Paul Chihara. His life experience has ranged from family incarceration during World War II’s Japanese Relocation program to musical training under

Nadia Boulanger at the Paris Conservatoire, and further studies at the Hochschule für Musikin Berlin. He’s been a Professor of Music at UCLA, a music advisor to Zubin Mehta, conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for ten years, while he was developing the first electronic music studio at UCLA. He was the first composer in residence of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra when it was conducted by Sir Neville Mariner. He got into film scoring through a happenchance call from Roger Corman, who was seeking a graduate student to help with a new science fiction movie, a request Chihara, having just retired from UCLA to become a classical composer, filled personally, presenting myself as his own graduate student. He wound up scoring Corman’s DEATH RACE 2000 and opening up a new career in film composing while continuing to maintain a respected career in classical concert music.

Among Chihara’s early projects was scoring THE MISSISSIPPI, a 1977 documentary episode for the COUSTEAU ODYSSEY TV program, about the famous French undersea explorer, researcher, and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau’s expedition over the 2,350 mile-long Mississippi River, second longest river in North America. Chihara’s score, performed by members of the London Symphony fulfilling a freelance contract, is an integration of various Americana tunes of the 19thCentury and Chihara’s own original cues to support sequences that needed emotive dramatic support. These included a cheerful trumpet theme flavored with a precise swiftness suggestive of the mighty, modern Mississippi, and much music with arpeggios in the lower strings, which depicts the ongoing undercurrent of the churning water of the Mississippi.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring Paul Chihara’s score to THE MISSISSIPPI and his title treatments for THE MORNING AFTER to compact disc for the first time, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland with exclusive liner notes by author Randall D. Larson, with the participation of the composer. THE PAUL CHIHARA COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 is a limited edition of 1000 units.  As a special offer, the first 50 people to order the album from the record label’s website will have their copy autographed by the composer at no additional charge. The First 50 copies purchased through buysoundtrax.com will be autographed by Composer Patrick Gleeson

Based on the 1977 novel by Richard Adams, THE PLAGUE DOGS is an animated drama released in 1982 and directed by Martin Rosen. It tells the story of two dogs who escape from a fictional research facility in Northwestern England and struggle against the rugged environment, local constabulary, and British military seeking to recapture them. Rosen’s first film had been an animated adaptation of Adams’ first novel, WATERSHIP DOWN (1978), which had been a huge international success and was the sixth most popular film of its year in England. It was therefore natural for Rosen then to make a film out of Adam’s subsequent novel involving animals.

Like WATERSHIP DOWN, the second film was animated and straightforward, unafraid to confront the reality of life in the wild, but THE PLAGUE DOGS treated its subject matter with an even more unflinching dramatic focus about the plight of the canine protagonists and the ethical realities of their predicament. The film’s bleakness and its lack of a cathartic resolution led to its failure at the box office; although in recent decades the film has been much better regarded and critical consensus now recognizes the film’s disconsolation as its greatest ingenuity.

Composer and electronic music pioneer Patrick Gleeson grew up in Seattle with initial musical hopes to become a jazz pianist until he became hooked on electronic music. Influenced by Wendy Carlos, Gleeson released several albums of electronic interpretations of classical and pop music, and then merged his interests in synthesizers music and jazz during his collaborative work with keyboardist and bandleader Herbie Hancock in the early ‘70s. This, and a bit of music for short films – including heading the synthesizer group responsible for orchestrating and performing the film electronic score for APOCALYPSE NOW – brought him to Martin Rosen’s attention and he gained his first feature film assignment scoring THE PLAGUE DOGS. Influenced by techniques of American minimalism as well the music of Polish composer Witold Lutosławski, Gleeson wrote a sophisticated score that suited the style of Rosen’s uncompromising filmmaking. The music is performed by members of The Kronos Quartet, augmented by Gleesen’s then-state-of-the-art electronic synthesizers. The score is not thematic-based, but rather allows each musical moment to unfold like a new chapter, giving each sequence a unique musical design of its own.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring THE PLAGUE DOGS to compact disc for the first time, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland with exclusive liner notes by author Randall D. Larson, with the participation of the composer. THE PLAGUE DOGS is a limited edition of 1000 units.  As a special offer, the first 100 people to order the album from the record label’s website will have their copy autographed by the composer at no additional charge. THE PLAGUE DOGS, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, is expected to begin shipping on August 30th.

They came close to achieving their goal but an unforeseen tragedy derailed the experiment. In DEEP BLUE SEA 2, pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Beach) is determined to revive the research of the Aquatica Project. With former Navy SEAL Trent Slater (Mayes) and scientists Daniel and Leslie Kim (Boado and Syster) already on board, Durant hopes to enlist shark conservationist Misty Calhoun (Savre) onto the team. Calhoun is shocked to discover that the company is using unpredictable and highly aggressive bull sharks, the most lethal predators in the ocean, as test subjects. Before long, the drug-enhanced sharks are growing smarter, quicker and much deadlier. When the sharks rebel, Calhoun and her team have to find a way to escape Aquatica before it's too late.

Sean Murray made his professional debut as composer for the action film SCORPION. He grew up in Santa Barbara, California where he learned the craft of film composing by scoring dozens of student movies for the Brooks Institute Film School. He now has over 100 film, television and video game credits to his name, which include the controversial television series GOD, THE DEVIL AND BOB with James Garner and Alan Cumming, for Carsey-Werner and NBC; and the deeply disturbing psychological-thriller JUNKYARD DOG starring Vivica Fox, along with the successful video game series TRUE CRIME: STREETS OF L.A. and TRUE CRIME: New York City, CALL OF DUTY: WORLD AT WAR and CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS for Activision. Most recently, he has also scored ACCIDENT MAN and THE DEBT COLLECTOR.

Sean is the son of actor Don Murray, whose performance with Marilyn Monroe in BUS STOP was nominated for an Academy Award. Sean lives in the Hollywood Hills, close to the film studios and post-production houses.

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the world premiere compact disc release of GRIZZLY, featuring music composed by Robert O. Ragland (10 TO MIDNIGHT, Q, THE WINGED SERPENT, ASSASSINATION) for the 1976 horror thriller directed by William Girdler, written by Harry Flaxman and David Sheldon, starring Christopher George, Andrew Prine, Richard Jaeckel , Joe Dorsey and Teddy the bear as the Grizzly.

GRIZZLY is a tale of realistic terror about the largest ground beast in the world, an eighteen foot, two thousand pound grizzly bear that goes on a massive killing spree in the serene setting of a national park. Park Ranger Micheal Kelly (George) and wildlife specialist Arthur Scott (Jaeckel) combine their efforts to fight two enemies: the bloodthirsty bear and park supervisor Charley Kittredge (Dorsey) who wants to keep the park open despite the inherent danger.

Unable to stop the bear using any conventional methods, Kelly employs the talents of helicopter pilot Don Stober (Prine), a Vietnam veteran. Kelly and Stober take to the skies with high powered rifles and a rocket launcher. Meanwhile, Scott loses his life trying to take the bear alive with a powerful tranquilizer. Can Stober and Kelly stop the bear before it kills again?

Playing the piano at the age of five set the tone for Robert O. Ragland’s lifelong interest in music. Throughout his school years, he performed and organized dance bands. After graduation from Northwestern University, Ragland served as an arranger for the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra. Later, he attained degrees in music from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and attended the Academy of Music in Vienna. Following the death of Tommy Dorsey, Ragland officially left the music business for his stint in advertising. But the urge to write film music overwhelmed him so he came to California.

Some of Robert O. Ragland’s diverse credits include RETURN TO MACON COUNTY, PONY EXPRESS RIDER, SHARK’S TREASURE, PROJECT: KILL, ABBY, MANSION OF DOOM, JAGUAR LIVES, Q, THE WINGED SERPENT, MESSENGER OF DEATH, 10 TO MIDNIGHT, THE FEAR, ORION’S KEY, TOP OF THE WORLD and MOTEL BLUE. Ragland passed away in 2012 at the age of 80. In his later years, Ragland also conducted the music for many live awards shows including the Oscars and the Emmys.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring GRIZZLY to compact disc for the first time, featuring music composed and conducted by Robert O. Ragland, featuring orchestrations by Jack Hayes, performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of London. GRIZZLY is a limited edition release of 500 units. Suggested retail price is $16.95. GRIZZLY is expected to begin shipping the week of September 24th, 2018.

Quartet Records and Lionsgate present the soundtrack album of the new collaboration between Victor Reyes (Emmy Award winner composer for the score of The Night Manager) and Rodrigo Cortés, following their three successful films together: The Contestant, Buried and Red Lights.

Down a Dark Hall, starring Uma Thurman, AnnaSophia Rob and Noah Silver, is based on a novel by Lois Ducan. The story is about a troubled teen named Kit Gordy (Rob) who is forced to join the exclusive Blackwood Boarding School, only to find herself trapped by dark forces surrounding its mysterious headmistress, Madame Duret (Thurman).

Victor Reyes crafts a mesmerizing, haunting orchestral score with suspenseful atmospherics. It encompasses the sound of Gothic terror, full-blooded romanticism, an impressionistic love theme (Kit & Jules), and a return to the openly symphonic sound that we miss in other current scores. An obsessive and classy waltz “Etude,” composed by Reyes and Cortés, is also included.

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the Chamber Orchestra of London, the CD comes with a lavish 16-page booklet that includes an interview with the composer by film music writer Daniel Schweiger.
