    Aus Wien beehrte uns das Cineploit-Label mit der Veröffentlichung seines ersten Originalfilmsoundtracks (nach einer Reihe von Filmhommagen): Luigi Portos »Scimmie« ist die Filmmusik zu Romano Scavolinis neuem Film L’A P O C A L I S S E   D E L L E   S C I M M I E. Dieser Film des italienischen Kultregisseurs (Spirits oft he Dead, Nghtmare of a damgaed brain) präsentiert John Philip Law in seiner letzten Filmrolle. Porto, der Komponist, ist ein ausgebildeter Sounddesigner mit einem Portfolio von über 15 interna-tionalen Filmmusiken. Die Musik zu SC I M M I E war offenbar ein schmerzhafter kreativer Prozess, der sich über Jahre und in stetiger Auseinandersetzung mit dem Regisseur hinzog.  Das Ergebnis trägt diesem Prozess deutlich Rechnung: Die Komposition ist komplex, herausfordernd, packend und hochgradig emotional. Ein stilistisches wie atmosphärisches Wechselbad, basierend auf orchestralen Einspielungen, die in einem langen Prozess durch Sampling und Dubbing weiterentwickelt wurden. Scavolini forderte von Porto eine »Schmerz-Sinfonie« – und das bekam er. Portos Kunst bewegt sich auf den Spuren des frühen, experimentellen Ennio Morricone und bewahrt doch sorgsam eine Modernität und Eigenständigkeit, die man etwa bei seinem italienischen Kollegen Teho Teardo findet. Die schwere Vinylscheibe glänzt u.a. durch die Covergestaltung des Malers Vittorio Bruni. Ein Gesamtwerk von großer Schönheit und Morbidität.

    Am 8. September erscheint auf Cineploit der erste richtige Score von LUIGI PORTO zu ROMANO SCAVOLINI´s Film "L´Apocalisse delle Scimmie" simpel "Scimmie" benannt! Der Score ist ein avantgardistisches orchestrales Werk im Geiste der experimentiellen Phase eines Ennio Morricone´s ende 60/beginn der 70er.

    Luigi Porto is an Italian musician and composer. He released some experimental songwriting albums with his former solo project Appleyard College, and with the Italian band Maisie. He is a resident composer in a contemporary opera company based in New York City.

    With a background in visual arts, he works also as a sound designer in films and theatre performances. SCIMMIE, his first release under his own name, is a soundtrack to an unreleased experimental movie.

    In his own words:

    "SCIMMIE is a musical conversation that flows parallel to the film by Romano Scavolini. These were the agreements. When we met, he told me "I don't want film music. You have to create a sort of "pain symphony", something that continues even if the film stops, a music that doesn't care".

    The work, divided in three volumes, like the film, was conceived in years in several cities, while from time to time I was moving for work reasons. I wanted to collect contrasting experiences, put them in line without seeking for harmony, instead releasing many individual energies, make them explode and implode - simply suggesting a direction. I used many composition techniques to do this, from classical 4 voices writing to sampling, to overdub, to psychedelic improvisation. I wanted to let this music emerge and sink between various identities, without being afraid of making a faux paus - instead trying to speak languages that are foreigners to everybody. even through the various guests, conceived as "representatives". It is a political vision. Contradiction, schizophreny, I wanted to ride them, ritualize them, show them. Not a contamination, but a struggle, a fight.

    I try to compose and, once written and recorded, handling the tracks as found objects, with continuous elevations and debasements - a total "shuffling the cards" (even Romano in the meanwhile was doing it with the film, editing the episodes and then shuffling them). Hiding the work of writing sometimes, and sometimes instead showing it naked, make it emerge. Writing straight, recording, letting it settle until the emotional detachment and then mistreating the material, improvising upon it, sometimes leaving everything to randomness to find new paths. This, for me, is a method and a liturgy. "

    ROMANO SCAVOLINI is probably known best for his movies „Un Bianco Vestito per Mariale“ (aka „Spirits of Death“), „Dog Tags – Platoon to hell“, „Savage Hunt“ or „Nightmare“.

    SOSPETTO schlägt zurück! Dieses deutsche Duo kreiert mit sechs wundervollen Gastmusikern eine weitere Reise in das weite Feld des italienisch oder europäischen soundtracks der Vergangenheit gepaart mit ihren eigenen Ideen der modernen Komposition. Dieses mal könnt ihr eine aufregende Melange aus italienischen Barocksongs, wildem und satanischem Progrock sowie spannungsgeladene Experimentalsongs hören.

    In seiner Gesamtheit ist dieses Konzeptalbum mehr als eine Aneinanderreihung von Songs. Es erzählt die Geschichte zweier Hexen welche sich gegenseitig mit den tödlichen Kräften der schwarzen Magie bekämpfen. Diesemal ist es ein realer Soundtrack zu einem 23 minütigem Kurzfilm welcher gefilmt, geschnitten und unter der Regie von SOSPETTO's Kopf Christian Rzechak vollzogen wurde. Der Film wurde gefilmt an locations in Italien sowie Deutschland und beinhaltet 8 tracks des Albums.

    SOSPETTO´s  “Non bussare alla porta del diavolo” zweites Album wird mit diesem Kurzfilm auf DVD begleitet. Die ersten 250 Stück der LP beinhalten das Album als CD sowie die DVD (PAL).
    Die CD Version beinhaltet die DVD und ist limitiert auf 250 Stück.

    This German Duo is creating music with such an italian sound it could be easily used for an Giallo or Poliziotti made nowadays. You can hear some Frizzi influence especially with the choirs and some Nicolai in the harmonies but then again it all sounds so unique and fresh! If I wouldn´t know better I would bet my ass this must be Italians! 15 tracks of audible black gloves, bloody razors and fateful affairs, like a soundtrack of a never-filmed giallo.

    Hi Leute!

    Ich habe vor gar nicht so langer Zeit ein Label gegründet mit der Premisse sowie der Hingabe, Bands und Künstler zu veröffentlichen die Filmscore lastige Musik machen und (vor allem) die italienischen Meister huldigen. Bald ist es soweit und die ersten beiden Tonträger erscheinen, das Labelprogramm für diese Jahr steht auch schon!
