Also viel Spaß hier, I’m out ✌?

  2. WaterTower Music has announced three separate album releases of music from and in celebration of the new film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar). Coming out on September 3 is the digital album The Dune Sketchbook (Music from the Soundtrack), which is comprised of extended, immersive musical explorations of composer’s Dune film score, to be released in Standard and Dolby Atmos Music configurations. Coming out on September 17 is the digital album Dune (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which features Zimmer’s Dune film score and will also be released in both Standard and Dolby Atmos Music configurations. On October 22, the label will release The Art and Soul of Dune, which is the companion soundtrack to the book of the same title, offering uniquely crafted versions of the film’s main themes curated by Zimmer to accompany the reader on their journey through the book, which was written by the film’s executive producer Tanya Lapointe. As previously reported, two tracks from the composer’s score have already been released today. Click hereto listen to the tracks and for more details and check back on this page for the full details of all albums. Dune will be released in theaters worldwide starting September 15 and will arrive in the U.S. on October 22, where it will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

  3. In a Q&A with Hans Zimmer, Villenueve revealed that that commitment to keeping Dune alien, despite its human characters, extended to the film’s score as well.

“Whenever I saw a movie about empires far far away, other planets etc., I always heard trumpets and french horns and cellos playing,” Zimmer said, “and I’m thinking wow there are all these amazing civilizations in different galaxies places and in different times and they have the same instruments as we do!

The composer’s goal was to get as far away from the typical John Williams/space epic score as possible, in part by trying to “invent our own instruments.”

The musical sounds in Warner Bros.’ presentation included low, didgeridoo-like droning, harsh percussion, whining chromatic strings, and discordant wordless vocals from a largely female chorus.

“The one thing that I felt would hold true to any civilization on any world was the human voice,” Zimmer shared, adding that the chorus was also a tribute to the pivotal female characters in Dune.
