LISTEN TO A SOUNDCLIP FROM the score for HELEN OF TROY

(August 22nd, 2012, Los Angeles, CA) FreeClyde Records, to be distributed by BuySoundtrax Records, will be releasing HELEN OF TROY, featuring music composed by Joel Goldsmith (STARGATE UNIVERSE, STARGATE ATLANTIS, STARGATE SG-1) for the 2003 television mini-series directed by John Kent Harrison (GAME OF YOUR LIFE, YOU KNOW MY NAME), starring Matthew Marsden (RAMBO, RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION), Rufus Sewell (DARK CITY, A KNIGHT’S TALE, THE ILLUSIONIST), James Callis (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA), John Rhys-Davies (RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING), Maryam d’Abo (THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS), Stellan Skarsgard (GOOD WILL HUNTING, KING ARTHUR, GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO) and Sienna Guillory (THE TIME MACHINE, RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE, THE HEART OF THE EARTH), as Helen.

Based on THE ILIAD, one of the most epic adventure stories of all time, HELEN OF TROY was originally broadcast in two parts on the USA Network in 2003. Inspired by Homer’s classic tale, shot in exotic locations, featuring an international cast and state-of-the-art special effects, HELEN OF TROY was an attempt to depict the legendary battle fought to win the love of the world’s most beautiful woman and make it relatable to a modern audience.

HELEN OF TROY tells the story of Helen (Guillory) who is married to Menelaus, King Of Sparta (Callis) but falls madly in love with Paris, Prince Of Troy (Marsden). Together, the lovers flee Sparta for Troy, where Paris’ father, Priam (Rhys-Davies) offers them safe haven. Menelaus’ brother, the ruthless Agamemnon (Sewell) uses the excuse to recover Helen for his brother as an opportunity to expand their empire by invading Troy and leads the Spartan army to the shores of the legendary fortified city. After a siege of ten years, the Spartans change their tactics and are able to gain entrance to Troy by hiding within the fabled Trojan Horse, allowing them to strike from within and bring the Trojan War to a tragic close.

Long anticipated by fans of the composer, HELEN OF TROY was one of the biggest projects of Joel Goldsmith’s career but did not receive an album release at the time. FreeClyde Records, to be distributed by BuySoundtrax Records, now presents the original television soundtrack to HELEN OF TROY on compact disc for the first time, featuring music composed by Joel Goldsmith for the epic mini-series, produced by the composer and mastered by James Nelson of Digital Outland. Orders placed through www.buysoundtrax.com will receive a special bonus disc prepared by the composer as a gift to his fans.

HELEN OF TROY is a limited edition of 1000 units. HELEN OF TROY is available for pre-order at www.buysoundtrax.com for $19.95 and is expected to start shipping on September 12, 2012.

    PERSON OF INTEREST

    Music by

    Ramin Djawadi

    (Game Of Thrones, Iron Man)

Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line), Michael Emerson (Lost) and Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button) team up in this thought-provoking crime action drama from The Dark Knight's Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions (Fringe, Lost, Alias). Set in New York City, this procedural centers on an ex-CIA agent, presumed dead, who partners with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes. Using data siphoned off the U.S. intelligence agencies' threat matrix — information not related to terrorism, but rather violent crimes of a personal nature — during each episode, the former CIA agent and his enigmatic partner identify a "person of interest" and set about solving the mystery of the impending crime. Tapping into the world's Big Brother-like surveillance network, the shadowy duo knows that something bad is going to happen; it's their mission to discover what that event will be ... and somehow prevent it.

Busy with feature films such as Iron Man, Clash Of The Titans and Safe House in recent years, composer Ramin Djawadi returns to his television roots (Prison Break) for this gritty and compelling twist on the crime drama.

Season 1 of Person Of Interest will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 4. Season 2 will premiere this fall on CBS.

  3. Harry Gregson-Williams' Stellungnahme:

    Tony Scott

The news of Tony's death reached me whilst I was leaving a music festival in the UK and, like many others, I find it nothing short of devastating. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Donna, and to his boys and the rest of the Scott family. What a desperately sad & bewieldering loss.

I last spoke to Tony about 10 days ago just as I was about to leave the US for my upcoming sabbatical year. A year in which I had decided not to score many, if any, films & do considerably less studio work in order to focus instead on my ever expanding family, and on some teaching and performing projects. I had previously talked to Tony about this plan of mine and of my anxiety at the possibility of being unavailable to him for his next film if he were to go in to production quite soon....he joked with me that he would track me down wherever I was and we would 'go into battle' once again no matter what. He thought the timing would be just perfect and told me I wasn't to worry.

He was always confident and optimistic towards me and my music. Always. He encouraged me to have faith in what we did together and not to worry about anything or anyone else. He believed in me, and he let me know it, which I found unusual and exceptional. It was understood between us without it ever having to have been said that complete & total commitment and 100% immersion in our work was all he required in return for this trust & belief. I'm certain he was the same with all his creative team as he recognized a kindred spirit and demanded a fierce loyalty.

I first met Tony way back on his rather grim movie 'The Fan'. You could say it was on that score that Hans Zimmer passed scoring duties of his movies over to me. Tony pushed Hans very hard during that time. Hans' music editor and I found Hans lying on the floor outside the bathrooms at Media Ventures one evening. He'd over done it and had momentarily collapsed under the strain of that score. As he recovered in a chair, Hans told me that working with Tony required nerves of steel but that if there was one person you could follow over the top and 'in to battle' it would & should be Tony Scott. So I did.

He was, indeed, a kind of Patton-esque character (albeit pink hatted) and a truly unforgettable & formidable artist to work with. Fearless yet thoughtful, strong as an ox yet amazingly sensitive, always utterly focused on his vision, yet never lacking in humor and compassion and never losing sight of his and our great fortune to be working on movies for a living.

I loved scoring movies for Tony Scott and I can honestly say that each and everyone of those experiences has left an indelible mark on me. From the sadness of 'Man on Fire' to the kick in 'Spy Game' to the lunacy of 'Domino', Tony always believed so whole heartedly and passionately in his work that it was nothing short of a privilege to be a part of his team, time and time again.

He was a one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

walkintheclouds-Web.jpgLa-La Land Records and 20th Century Fox presents the remastered and expanded release of renowned composer Maurice Jarre’s (LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, THE PROFESSIONALS, WITNESS, ENEMY MINE) sumptuously romantic score to 20th Century Fox’s 1995 post WWII-era drama A WALK IN THE CLOUDS, starring Keanu Reeves and Anthony Quinn and directed by Alfonso Arau. Composer Jarre’s lush and heartwarming orchestral score, full of sweeping and colorful themes, perfectly compliments cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki’s breathtaking imagery, while also harnessing the film’s deeply felt emotions and romantic plot, set against a post WWII Napa Valley vineyard. 7.

Val Kilmer, Radha Mitchell and Kate Maberly are co-starring in the film produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Geyer Kosinski (School for Scoundrels). Tyler and Caruso have previously collaborated on the 2009 action thriller Eagle Eye starring Shia LaBeouf.
