Johann Johannsson is reteaming with Denis Villeneuve on the upcoming sci-fi drama Story of Your Life. The film is based on a short story by Ted Chiang and stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg. The movie takes place after alien crafts land around the world and follows an expert linguist who is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. Eric Heisserer (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing) has written the screenplay. Glen Basner is producing the project for FilmNation, alongside David Linde (The Rover) for Lava Bear Films and Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night) & Dan Levine for 21 Laps Entertainment. Johannsson has previously collaborated with Villeneuve on 2013’s Prisoners and this year’s Sicario, which will be opening in select cities this weekend before expanding nationwide on October 2. Story of Your Life is currently in post-production and will be released in 2016 by Paramount Pictures.
