Varese braucht neuerdings offenbar nicht mehr nur den CD Club um limitierte releases zu veröffentlichen:

FRANZ WAXMAN: A Centenary Celebration

REBECCA

SUNSET BOULEVARD

PEYTON PLACE

Joel McNeely Frederic Talgorn

Royal Scottish National Orchestra

2006 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary composer Franz Waxman. Waxman was one of film music's earliest pioneers, creating the landmark score for 1935's The Bride of Frankenstein. His music would be heard in such classic films as Rebecca, The Philadelphia Story, Rear Window, The Spirit of St. Louis, Taras Bulba, Stalag 17, Sorry, Wrong Number, Mr. Skeffington and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Waxman was the only composer to ever win the Best Original Score Oscar in two consecutive years, for A Place In The Sun and Sunset Boulevard. His score for Peyton Place features one of the most beautiful and famous love themes of all time.

The commemoration of the Waxman Centenary is being noted by concerts and events all around the world, including a special tribute by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills and, during December and January, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

To join in this special celebration and honor this great genius, we have assembled this deluxe package containing three of Waxman's all-time classic films scores Alfred Hitchcock's 1940 Best Picture Academy Award-winning film Rebecca, Billy Wilder's Academy Award-winning masterpiece Sunset Boulevard (1950) and the scandalous 1957 romance Peyton Place.

All scores are newly recorded with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. This specially priced set contains over three hours of music by 12-time Oscar-nominated composer Franz Waxman.
