AHI Records, distributed by BUYSOUNDTRAX.COM , presents the 25th Anniversary Collectors Edition of HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH. The soundtrack features music composed & performed by John Carpenter (HALLOWEEN, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) and Alan Howarth (THE LOST EMPIRE, HEADLESS) for the 1982 horror film ghost-written by Nigel Kneale (QUATERMASS series) and directed by Tommy Lee Wallace (FRIGHT NIGHT PART II, THE NEW TWILIGHT ZONE).

After the enormous and unparalled box office success of the first two HALLOWEEN films, the producers chose to take the franchise in a new direction, by telling new stories that would have nothing to do with Michael Meyers but would be linked together by a common thread. The events of the stories would take place during Halloween. For the second sequel in the HALLOWEEN franchise, they chose to tell the story of Silver Shamrock, a company known for its unique Halloween masks, run by the mysterious Conal Cochran (Dan OHerlihy, THE LAST STARFIGHTER), and his insidious Manchurian-like plan to kill millions of innocent people around the world using a combination of their special masks and a specific radio signal broadcast at a particular time, to turn children into unstoppable assassins. Standing in the way is Doctor Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins, THE FOG, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS), a psychiatrist who accidentally stumbles onto the plot. Considered a creative mis-step in the evolution of the HALLOWEEN series, the film has developed a following over the years and at least one creative decision paid off in the long run. The musical duties for HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH were handled by series creator John Carpenter and Alan Howarth.

Alan Howarth, in addition to being a composer, is an accomplished sound designer and editor, having worked on films such as STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, POLTERGEIST, TOTAL RECALL, ARMY OF DARKNESS, BRAM STOKERS DRACULA, STARGATE and many others. He has been a frequent music collaborator with John Carpenter on his films beginning with ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK in 1980 and including HALLOWEEN II, CHRISTINE, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS and THEY LIVE and Alan has scored many films on his own, including THE LOST EMPIRE, RETRIBUTION, HALLOWEEN 4 & 5, THE DENTIST and, most recently, HEADLESS and BOO!, for the SCI-FI Channel.

The original album for HALLOWEEN III was released by Varese Sarabande Records and, to this day, despite having been out of print for several years, fetches high prices in the collectors market. AHI Records, to be distributed by BUYSOUNDTRAX Records, presents a new 25th Anniversary Collectors Edition release of HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH, which includes the contents of the original album release, newly remastered, along with thirteen tracks of previously unreleased music as bonus tracks, nearly an hour of music. The booklet contains notes written by the composer himself.

This is a limited edition release of 1000 units.

The first 100 copies will be autographed by composer Alan Howarth. This release is dedicated to the memories of Joseph Wolf, Moustapha Akkad and Debra Hill.

Halloween III ist ein toller Synthiescore von Carpenter. Ich hatte noch nicht die Gelegenheit, mir die original Varese-Scheibe zu besorgen. Dafür gibt's nun preisgünstig den Score mit zusätzlichen Material, wunderbar!

Wirklich ein schönes Release, ich habe es gleich bestellt, vielleicht bekomme ich noch ein Exemplar mit Autogramm von Alan Howarth (obwohl der gute John eigentlich auch hätte unterschreiben können, wenn er schon neue Liner Notes schreibt, wobei mit "Composer" auch Alan Howarth gemeint sein kann, obwohl der eigentlich hauptsächlich "nur" die Programmings übernommen hat ). Ich besitze zwar die alte Varese-CD und hätte mir diese neue Auflage wohl nicht gekauft, wenn es einfach nur eine Wiederveröffentlichung gewesen wäre, aber fast doppelt soviel Material als auf der alten CD hat mich dann doch überzeugt...und das auch noch von meinem Lieblings-Halloween-Score...

Jetzt will ich aber auch noch erweiterte Releases von PRINCE OF DARKNESS und THEY LIVE...

Ich habe ja schon fast Angst darum, weil die PayPal-Abwicklung auch da so kompliziert ist, also erst Geld auf´s PayPal-Konto einzahlen und dann vom PayPal-Konto an BSX überweisen. Das dauert ja ein paar Tage, ich hoffe mal, es zählt der Zeitpunkt des Bestelleinganges.

Aber es gibt doch schon seit langer Zeit "giropay": Einfach auf's Paypal-Konto zahlen und fertig, das Geld ist bei dem Empfänger. Vor der Abwicklung leitet dich Paypal zu deinem Bankkonto. Da gibt's du nur deine PIN ein, dann macht Paypal automatisch ein Überweisungsformular fertig, TAN eingeben und weg damit. Paypal schreibt das Geld auf dem Empfänger gut und das Geld ist von deinem Konto abgebucht.

Vorrausgesetzt, du hast bei Paypal Giropay eingestellt.

Ach so? Ehrlich gesagt habe ich mich nie näher damit beschäftigt, in 99,9 % der Fälle läuft es ja normal über PayPal, aber wenn das so einfach ist, sollte ich mich mal damit auseinandersetzen. Danke für den Tipp.

Ja, ich glaube das ist auch eine Alternative, die Giropay anbietet.

Schon klar, aber in diesem Fall geht es eben nicht. Bei BAD BOYS war es im Übrigen genau so: Lastschrift ... keine Chance

Gibt es eigentlich eine Möglichkeit, seinen Bestellstatus bei BSX irgendwo einzusehen, ohne dass man gleich eine Mail schreiben und nachfragen muss? Auf deren Seite finde ich es entweder nicht oder ich habe es übersehen. Bei SAE wird für die CD ein Veröffentlichungstermin Mitte November genannt, obwohl laut BSX die Auslieferung seit dem 29.10. laufen soll.

BSX ist relativ berüchtigt dafür, schlechten Service zu haben, also vermutlich nein. Das heißt jetzt nicht, dass deine CD nicht geliefert wird, aber auf Rückfragen sollen die sehr spät, wenn überhaupt reagieren. Man liest da immer mal wieder Geschichten in diversen Foren, vor allem bei FSM. Deswegen hab ich da selber auch noch nie etwas geordert.
