Und wenn ich Tipps gegeben habe, welcher Score sich aus dem Angebot denn lohnt, wurde der dann im Amazon-Marketplace für 56 Cent gekauft.
Ich werde wahrscheinlich nun immer dem Service bei Varèse Club-CDs hinterhertrauern. Der war wirklich top.
Der Service war wirklich top. Und der Preisverfall so vieler Titel im Marketplace ist doch auch symptomatisch für die Probleme. Überhaupt scheint das Interesse generell abzunehmen. Ich staune, wie wenig Resonanz häufig etwa die Ankündigungsthreads von Quartet und Music Box, aber auch von so mancher LLL-Neuheit, hervorrufen.

Steht da ein Re-Issue von Goldsmith Warlock ins Haus?
For a start the score has a curious tonality about it and a rather dull recording. This might be to do with the orchestration and what Goldsmith assembled, though you're never quite sure whether the recording venue is to blame.

Nur ein lange überfälliges Meisterwerk ist Jaws The Revenge nun auch nicht. Da spielen Klute, Marathon Man oder auch Night Moves, wo leider die Bänder verloren sind, in einer anderen Liga.

Wenn ich dem 2. Satz ("La joie du bleu profond") zu d'Indys spätromantischen Klangschwelgereien lausche, überkommt mich ein Déjà-vu-Gefühl. Ganz offenbar hat Alex North hier überdeutliche Anleihen genommen, als er die "Space Station Docking" Sequenz für 2001 vertont hat.

Network bringt drei DVDs mit Bonus Musik-Suiten von John Barry. Das liest sich fast so, als wären die Bänder von Tamarind Seed gefunden worden.

Monday 9th February is a red-letter day for fans of John Barry! This is the official release date of three Network DVD/blu-ray editions of films he scored, and, as part of the special features, each contains music suites comprising of the greater part of each score.
A very faithful re-recording of Raise the Titanic was released on CD some years ago, but this will be the first opportunity to hear Barry's score without the distraction of dialogue, and, for the most part, sound effects. The suite contains more than 40 minutes of music.
The Tamarind Seed has been the subject of bootleg CDs over the years, and appeals for an official release have been ignored to date. Fans will therefore be delighted to learn there are two music suites on the DVD/blu-ray! The first contains virtually every note of Barry's score, while the second contains not only two takes of Wilma Reading's Pye single, Play It Again, but also two versions of Barry & Don Black's first attempt at a song, namely The End, performed by Danny Street. This will be the first time it has been heard by all but a handful of the original film makers!
Lastly, we have The Legend of the Lone Ranger. Recorded by Barry in Paris in 1980, during his exile from the UK, the original LP consisted of only 26 minutes of music. The suite included here is more than twice this length and includes all the music in the film composed or arranged by John Barry. Moreover, there is a second suite consisting of the various vocals and narrations by Merle Haggard which are heard throughout the film.
Each release will also contain a booklet comprised of photographs from the film and notes on the film and music by Pete Walker & Geoff Leonard.

Bin sehr angetan von dem Set. Gutes Klangbild, hübsches und informatives Booklet. Bin überrascht von Hagens Score zu Tomorrow's Tide, der sich auch mal von "Apes Sound" entfernt und teilweise locker aus einer Serie wie McMillan hätte kommen können.

In der höheren Auflösung konnte man die Komponisten schon länger lesen:

Der Kaplan als Golden Age-Score aus dem Fox-Katalog hätte auch gut und gerne bei Intrada erscheinen können. Dann wäre der sicher weniger eine Liebhabergeschichte, sondern würde im Mitnahmeeffekt auch von anderen gekauft. Aber so ist die Psychologie des kleinen Soundtrackmarktes.

Ich habe mir das Album auch gekauft - als Download - aber so richtig mein Fall ist der Score wg. der "Gospel-lastig" nicht wirklich. Da hat der Shire-Fan in mir gesiegt.
In bin zwar auch Shire-Fan, habe aber wegen der Clips gepasst.
Wenn Intrada nur bei Universal aus den Tiefen des Archives seine tollen McCloud Scores retten würde, das täte sich dann auch verkaufen!

Dass es Trek Enterprise innerhalb eines Monats nicht unter die Top 10 für 2014 geschafft hat, mag neben der relativ obskuren Serie auch am vergleichsweise höheren Preis von 60 Dollar liegen, das Deep Space Nine Set wurde für 50 Dollar angeboten. Das mag so kurz vor Weihnachten auch manchen Käufer abgeschreckt haben, außerdem nimmt das für dieses Geld sicher nicht ein Gelegenheitskäufer mal so eben noch mit in den Warenkorb.

Nachdem ich jetzt die Clips komplett durchgehört habe, ist der Zustand der Bänder wohl doch nicht so schlimm. Mal schauen, ob da in den Stems Schnitte oder ausgeblendete Musik ist oder ob diese "safety copy" alles ausgleichen konnte.
Jedenfalls armer Fitzpatrick, seine Tadlow Neuaufnahme bekommt wohl Konkurrenz.

Es gibt einen Fehler auf der CD und Intrada lässt die Scheibe neu pressen:

No, it shouldn't. Several people we've checked with either don't hear it... or aren't concerned. But I hear it and it does matter to me. So we've already corrected the noise at our end and the plant is re-pressing the discs. We'll mail a new CD out to anyone who wants one, FOC. (Which of course is what Anthony Perkins says to Meg Tilly in the beginning of Psycho II when he invites her to stay at one of his rooms "strictly Free Of Charge"... and we all know how well that turned out.
Give us about two weeks or so to get the new CDs in stock. They'll be free and you need not stay in one of our motels, either.

Trotzdem gekauft, obwohl die Intrada hier selten gehört wird. Wegen LaSalle.
Bei Buck Rogers Vol. 1 war der eine Score von LaSalle auch mein Kaufgrund, und in der Tat gefällt mir seine Musik am besten.

Fehlen doch auf dem offiziellen Soundtrack doch schon einige prägnante Stücke.
" Gunbarrel / Shuttle Hijack", "Freefall", "Drax Residence", "Gondola chase", um nur mal die wichtigsten zu nennen.
Das sind wohl schon die wichtigsten Stücke, wenn der "Tango Urilla" bei FSM recht hat:

Cooler Film mit einem überragenden Robert Duvall und Robert Ryan in einer seiner letzten Rollen. Sehr viel besser als das Remake von Brian Helgeland mit Mel Gibson in der Hauptrolle. Die Musik von Fielding ist ähnlich forciert wie das Tempo der Filmhandlung (z.B. Hotel corridor). Kommen zwei schöne Songs im Country Stil hinzu und fertig ist ein kleines nicht allzu bekanntes Meisterwerk.
Mein Lieblingsscore von Fielding. Ist alles drin, sein Händchen im Melodischen, sein jazziges und avantgardistisches Scoring so typisch für die Periode 1965-75 (man denke auch an jemanden wie Schifrin). Da ist Lukas Kendall auch ein toller Albumschnitt gelungen mit Underscore, Songs und Sourcestücken.

La-La-Land bringt am 13. Januar ein 2CD-Set mit der vollständigen Musik zu der kurzlebigen TV-Serie von 1974 mit der Musik von Lalo Schifrin, Earle Hagen und Richard LaSalle.
Die Scores bleiben für mich das einzige bemerkenswerte an der gesamten Serie. Zu viel "Geschwätz" und alles zu langatmig. Für die Serie hätte bei dem Stoff eigentlich ein viel ambitionierteres Konzept umgesetzt werden müssen, es war aber offensichtlich keinerlei Budget vorhanden. Diese gefloppte Serie und die ein paar Jahre später entstandene TV-Version zu Logan's Run waren wie zwei Klone voneinander. "Gleiche" Handlung und ständig die ewig selbe kalifornische Wüstenlandschaft als Kulisse, die das Moment der vorgegaukelten Bewegung, die beide Serien als Variation von "The Fugitive" benötigten, konterkarierte. Und Logans TV hatte auch richtig gute Scores, veröffentlicht auf FSM!

Ich fürchte fast, dass auf Vol. 2 auch McCarthy/Kiner und Chattaway wieder überrepräsentiert sein werden, waren es doch bei Enterprise gerade die "Gastkomponiosten", die aufhorchen ließen - wobei Bell und Baillargeon und bei dieser Serie auch Bunch als reguläre Komponisten angesehen werden müssten. Die Arbeiten dieser drei Komponisten würde ich deutlich über die beiden alten Trek-Arbeitspferde stellen. Zu schade, dass man von Baillargeons Vox Sola Score die besten Passagen auf Vol. 1 ausgespart hat, ob da beim zweiten Set mehr zu erwarten ist? Wohl eher nicht. Und auch Frizzells Score zu Proving Ground sticht heraus, so ziemlich mit das beste Action Scoring der ganzen Serie, hier in dem Set leider nur mit ca. fünf Minuten abgespeist.
Aber ich will McCarthy nicht zu sehr runterziehen. Auch ich konnte seinem Actionscoring nie so viel abgewinnen, dafür aber seinen "emotionalen" Cues desto mehr. Zum Beispiel die Musik für den todkranken Sarek in TNG Unification, praktisch den gesamten Score zu DS9 The Visitor (so wunderbar wieder aufgegriffen im Serienfinale) oder die Musik für die Geburt des mysteriösen Kindes in TNG The Child (noch besser rein orchestral ohne Synthetik in der Prager Neuaufnahme, seinerzeit noch von Thomas Karban produziert!).

Jedenfalls wird das Nostalgische in Musik und Bildern der Hoosiers-Eröffnungssequenz auch irgendwo durch die (unnötige??) anachronistische Synthetik konterkariert.

Wobei die Titelmusik aus HOOSIERS, also der erste Track, im Film gar nicht vorkommt. Den hat Jerry nur für das Album aufgenommen, natürlich mit all seinen digitalen Yamaha-Keyboards.
Häh? Dafür heißt Track 2 "Main Title", und davon rede ich. Ich weißt nicht, was du unter "Titelmusik" verstehst!

Es ist wirklich schade, dass die Reihe zu den Williams-Konzerten durch irgendwelche Umstände blockiert wird. Gerade das Klarinettenkonzert hätte dringend eine ordentliche Einspielung nötig. Aber es liegt noch nicht einmal gedruckt vor und diese alten Infos scheinen immer noch aktuell zu sein:
