Kommt als CD und Vinyl.

Gibt noch gar keinen Thread... Am 9. Juni erscheint auf Gordons Label seine bereits 2019 aufgenommene Musik zum Outback-Abenteuerfilm BUCKLEY'S CHANCE. Regisseur Tim Brown wollte für den Film einen Score im Geist der 80er Jahre: Habe die Musik bereits hören können, und das 55-minütige Album ist wirklich äußerst hörenswert. Es gibt ein ausladendes, schwelgerisches Abenteuerthema in 3/4 mit absoluten Ohrwurmqualitäten, Herb-Dramatisches mit exotischem Touch, sehr farbiger Einsatz von Percussion (Guiro, Rassel, Marimba, diverse Trommeln), und einige harsche Actionmomente mit treibenden Ostinati der tiefen Streicher und gleißenden Akzenten von Holz- und Blechbläsern. Wie immer bei Gordon extrem feinsinnig gearbeitet und brillant instrumentiert. Bisschen schade ist, dass sich einiges wiederholt - würde man die Wiederholungen rausnehmen, wären es sicher 15 Minuten weniger Musik. Ansonsten ein toller Score, bisher der beste des Jahrgangs.

Bear McCreary veröffentlicht heute über sein "Sparks & Shadows"-Label die Live-Konzert-Versionen einiger seiner Tracks von "Battlestar Galactica". McCreary ging während der zweiten Staffel von BSG erstmals mit dem Soundtrack der Serie auf Tour und hat das jedes Jahr bis zum Ende der Serie wiederholt. Heute wurden diese Live-Fassungen auf dem Album "So Say We All: Battlestar Galactica Live" veröffentlicht. Das Album ist digital seit heute auf Spotify verfügbar, kann aber auch bei 7Digital in verlustfreiem FLAC-Format gekauft werden. In einigen Tagen wird La-La Land Records außerdem eine signierte CD des Albums anbieten. Gleichzeitig mit dem Live-Album, wurden auch die Battlestar Galactica-Soundtracks erstmal auf Streaming-Plattformen wie Spotify veröffentlicht. Die Soundtracks waren bisher "nur" in CD-Form von La-La Land erhältlich und zum Teil schon ausverkauft. Die Soundtracks werden als Remaster vertrieben, was allerdings nicht näher spezifiziert wurde. Abseits von Goldsmith und Expandierungen gibt es auch heute noch hübsche "andere" Veröffentlichungen. Jetzt zum dritten Mal in Folge ein herrlicher Sampler mit wunderbarer Kurzfilmmusik des Vorjahres von MovieScore Media. Wahrscheinlich dann auch bald wieder sehr limitiert von Quartet auf CD. Für mich alten Hasen waren die ersten beiden Sampler schon eine echte Entdeckung (vor allem wg. Zak Millmans Sylphvania Grove!). Auch dieses Jahr mit sehr vielseitiger und hörenswerter Musik von Komponisten, von denen ich teils noch nie gehört habe. Das leichte Cosmic Fling von Jordan Seigel am Anfang. Christopher Slaskis recht Morricone-angehauchter Camaleón. Unheimliches Streicherwerk von Nicolás Reppetto (Bound). Robin Hoffmanns (war er hier nicht früher im Board?) kurzer und traurig anmutender A Father's Job. Und und und... Schön, dass auch letztes Jahr Komponisten für "kleine" Scores doch auf Live-Musiker zurückgreifen konnten. Oder es sind verdammt gute Samples. So schön kann man Spotify-Links hier im Board leider schon lange nicht mehr einbinden, daher spare ich mir das. Und meine Empfehlung für die beiden Alben zu 2018 und 2019 gilt immer noch. Es gibt dort auch einige "große" Komponisten. Auch bei MSM unter obigem Link zu finden. Ich lege heute viele Alben nach einmal oder zweimal Hören zur Seite. Für lange Zeit oder sogar für immer. Darunter auch viele der "Top-Titel" der "Top-Label". Aber hier findet man erneut etwas, das ein mehrmaliges Hören wirklich lohnt.

Der erste Track aus "The Bad Batch" von Kevin Kiner wurden nun veröffentlicht. Kiner bleibt seinem Star Wars-Stil treu.. wenigstens deutet das dieser Track an. Serie habe ich noch nicht gesehen, da ich gerade noch 2 andere Serien schaue, aber ist definitiv auf meiner Watchliste, da ich die Star Wars-Sachen von Dave Filoni großartig finde.

Nachdem Gordons letzte Filmmusik zu Bruce Beresfords LADIES IN BLACK (2018) leider keine Veröffentlichung erfahren hat, wird seine aktuelle Musik wieder beim hauseigenen Label Magic Fire Music erscheinen - offenbar nur digital, da nur 20 Minuten lang: https://christophergordon.net/album/1901835/june-again Hörclips siehe Link oben. Ein leichtfüßiger Score für kleines Orchester und konzertantes Solo-Klavier, geht ein wenig in Richtung ADORE. Film scheint ein eher sentimentales Familiendrama zu sein, über eine an Demenz leidende Mutter, die sich mit ihren Kindern aussöhnen will. Veröffentlichungsdatum des Scores: 14. April.
