Kurioserweise ist mittlerweile die Futtetenne-LP von Bud Spencer wohl mehr wert als die anderen LPs zusammen, inklusive BANANA JOE. 
Leider ist es nicht die von Bud signierte Ausgabe, die hab ich damals verpasst. Wenn es die wäre, müsste ich mir wohl extra dafür einen Safe anschaffen.

Dass die Arnold-Scores jetzt zuerst kommen, könnte ja auch daran liegen, dass die eben relativ aktuell sind. Sprich, das Material dürfte in besserem und leichter auffindbarem Zustand sein als die alten Sachen. Eventuell hält auch jemand den Daumen auf die alten Scores, nach dem Motto "Die wurden doch schon remastered neu veröffentlicht, sind also abgehakt."
Bei den Neuveröffentlichungen wurde damals doch auch relativ spontan der Stecker gezogen, wenn ich mich recht erinnere. Man ging chronologisch vor, weshalb die Connery-Bonds alle expandiert wurden. Als man dann Mitte der 70er angekommen war, hieß es plötzlich, es werden keine alten Bänder mehr gesucht und remastert, sondern nur der alte LP-Schnitt neu veröffentlicht. Daher waren die Macher auch so frustriert und meinten, wenn sie das gewusst hätten, hätten sie mit den "wichtigeren" Scores angefangen.

Liegt vielleicht auch daran, dass Ford Thaxton, Mark Banning und Joe Harnell sehr gut befreundet waren. Eventuell hatte Harnell auch Vieles davon in seinem Archiv, was eine Veröffentlichung vielleicht einfacher gemacht hat. Nicht nur HULK, auch von THE BIONIC WOMAN und V gibt es ja einige Alben.

Snow Files of the Week: "Santos Elves/The Way it was" aus "MillenniuM", Episode "Omerta" (1998).
"Omerta" ist die Weihnachtsfolge der dritten Staffel von "MillenniuM". Darin geht es um zwei junge Frauen, die in den Wäldern leben, fernab der Zivilisation. Ihre Namen sind Lassa und Rose, Lassa hat heiliende Kräfte.
Für seine Musik benutze Mark opernhafte Gesang-Samples, die der Musik einen magischen Touch verleihen. Mark kombiniert seine düsteren Klanglandschaften mit dem wundervollen Thema für Lassa und Rose, womit "Omerta" eine der "MillenniuM"-Folgen mit der aussergewöhnlichsten Musik ist.
Die Tracks befinden sich auf dem ersten Volume mit "MillenniuM"-Musik von LLL, limitiert auf 1000 Stück.

Das ist einfach nur toll! Da gab es für mich innerhalb eines Jahres drei Soundtracks, die mir noch fehlten. Dank BEAT und Cinevox konnte ich die von meiner Liste streichen. Ob Buds Lied darauf ist, ist mir eigentlich egal, denn so gut finde ich die Version gar nicht. Komplett vermasselt haben die Oliver Onions es aber auf ihrem Futura-Album. Aber was hat "Brotherly Love" auf dem Album zu suchen? Ist das schon das Appetithäppchen für den "Zwei sind nicht zu bremsen"-Soundtrack? Oder lief das Lied bei "Banana Joe" irgendwo im Hintergrund?
Die Version ist jetzt nicht essentiell, aber wäre eben ein netter Bonus gewesen.
Was andere Songs betrifft: Das gab es doch öfter, dass die Onions bereits existierende Songs mehrmals verwendet haben. Bei ZWEI AUSSER RAND UND BAND läuft ja auch ein Song (welcher, ist mir gerade entfallen) aus einem anderen Film im Hintergrund, als Bud und Terence an der Bude die Burger bestellen.
Zudem gibt es von einigen ihrer Songs mehrere Varianten, weil sie den Song selbst gesungen und ihn dann später an andere Leute weitergegeben haben, die sie produziert haben.
Die Schelte über das FUTURE MEMORABILIA Album kann ich nur bedingt nachvollziehen. Klar, es klingt alles etwas polierter und moderner, aber beispielsweise die Banana-Joe-Version mit Bud finde ich sehr schmissig. Und wer, wenn nicht The Hoff, hätte als Gast „Sheriff" singen können?
Dazwischen gibt es ein paar Sachen, die ich jetzt auch nicht unbedingt gebraucht hätte, wie noch eine Version von „Santa Maria" und auch der Feuerwehrchor gefällt mir im Original besser, aber Spaß macht das Album dennoch.

Freut mich auch, dass doch noch ein neuer Score dieses Jahr kommt.
Allerdings, wenn man jetzt meckern wollte, fehlt die von Bud Spencer gesungene Version des Titelsongs scheinbar. Klar, die haben die Onions schon auf ihrem Album „Future Memorabilia" veröffentlicht, aber das war ja eine neu produzierte Version. Eventuell hätte man hier noch die Originalversion als Bonus mit draufpacken können. Oder die kommt wieder extra als Single. Aber vielleicht ist es ja Track 27.

Sag ich ja schon länger, dass seine "kleineren" Scores wesentlich interessanter sind als das große Getöse, welches er mittlerweile ja auch zu einem nicht geringen Teil ausgelagert hat an Chris Bacon. Bei den kleineren Scores scheint Elfman dafür noch fast alleine zu arbeiten, was man dann eben auch hört.

Mimic (1997) was the second film of master filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim, The Shape of Water), and his first with an American studio. A modern-day horror classic, it tells the story, in del Toro’s inimitable style, of a “bug hunt” for mutated cockroaches (capable of mimicking humans) infesting New York’s undergrounds.
Scoring Mimic was Marco Beltrami, who had recently made a splash with Scream and was beginning his long (and ongoing) career as a go-to composer for everything from blockbusters to upscale horror, sci-fi and thriller films, to prestigious Academy Award winners.
Mimic displays the hallmarks of Beltrami’s popular style: bold, pulse-pounding action; eerie suspense and scares; and—most importantly—a sensitivity to human emotion. All of this is carefully and immaculately produced in a symphonic-electronic package that calls upon elevated, avant garde orchestral traditions while remaining accessible to modern audiences.
Mimic was last available within Varèse Sarabande’s 2016 12CD set, Little Box of Horrors. For this new release, the 34-track Deluxe Edition has been newly assembled and remastered from first-generation sources, and the score packaged with new cover art and liner notes by Randall D. Larson.

No composer was better suited to score a picture than Jerry Goldsmith with L.A. Confidential (1997), director Curtis Hanson’s masterpiece of the James Elroy novel about corruption in 1950s Los Angeles. Not only was a Goldsmith a master of the thriller and crime genres, but his own career started in the era depicted in the film, and he had scored the all-time great detective noir, Chinatown.
L.A. Confidential starred Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Kevin Spacey as police detectives, with Kim Basinger as a Veronica Lake-lookalike prostitute, in a labyrinthine but brilliantly constructed plot connecting city hall and the cops, organized crime, Hollywood tabloids and the gutter. The film received nine Oscar nominations—including for Goldsmith’s score—and won two, for Basinger and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was heralded as an instant classic and, 25 years later, is every bit as captivating.
Goldsmith’s score combines a modern pulse, pace and suspense with period idioms—notably a bluesy trumpet theme, performed by Malcolm McNab, which to Goldsmith represented masculinity. The score distills the 1950s atmosphere of smoke and seediness, as well as a certain bygone era of honor and justice, while making the film ingeniously slick and contemporary—and, as always for Goldsmith, emotional.
L.A. Confidential’s score album was released by Varèse Sarabande after the film in 1997. This Deluxe Edition features two programs on one disc: 28 tracks, running 45 minutes, representing the cues heard in the film, followed by the original 11-track, 30-minute score album. New liner notes are by Tim Greiving.

Snow Files of the Week: "Ernest saves Christmas/Christmas Spirit" aus dem Film "Ernest Saves Christmas" (1988).
Die Vorweihnachtszeit ist bereits in vollem Gange, Zeit auch für Mark Snow, um ein wenig "Christmas Spirit" zu verbreiten. Der Score zu "Ernest Saves Christmas" ist wohl einer von Snows leichtfüßigsten Scores, eingespielt mit Orchester und voller weihnachtlicher Stimmung. Die "Ernest"-Reihe ist in Amerika sehr populär, es gibt eine ganze Reihe von Filmen davon (z. B. "Ernest Goes To Camp" oder auch "Ernest Goes To Jail").
Marks Score wurde bisher nicht offiziell veröffentlicht, es existiert nur eine Promo-CD davon. Vielleicht wird sich eines der kleinen Label irgendwann mal dieses Scores annehmen.

Eventuell war es ja auch ein Missverständnis, da die Neuauflage der HIMMELHUNDE zwar im Oktober angekündigt wurde, aber LP und CD doch erst die Tage erschienen sind.

Wobei sich das reguläre Album zu PASSION OF THE CHRIST zumindest in den USA tatsächlich sehr gut verkaufte. Es war in den Billboard Charts und bekam sogar eine Goldene Schallplatte. Aber daraus zu schliessen, dass sich das Album erweitert in einer viel kleineren Filmmusik-Blase ebenso gut verkauft (die Auflage betrug immerhin 10.000 Exemplare!), war wohl falsch.

Im Podcast THE GOLDSMITH ODYSSEY spricht in der neuesten Episode Paul Verhoeven über seine Arbeit mit Jerry. Ich konnte es noch nicht ganz hören, aber da waren schon einige interessante Sachen dabei, die ich nicht wusste (oder wieder vergessen habe ;)). Beispielsweise, dass Verhoeven seinen Film FLESH AND BLOOD fast komplett mit Musik von Horner als Temp Track unterlegt hatte und er dann sogar Horner gefragt hat, ob er den Film vertonen möchte. Doch nachdem Horner sich den Film mit Verhoeven angesehen hatte, war Horner wohl entsetzt und meinte sinngemäß, dass er damit nichts zu tun haben möchte.
Im Temp Track waren auch zwei, drei Tracks von Poledouris aus CONAN THE BARBARIAN, sodass dieser letztendlich den Film vertonte.
Zu Jerry kam Verhoeven dann bei TOTAL RECALL letztendlich durch Carolco Pictures, für die Jerry schon einige Filme vertont hatte. Laut Verhoeven gab er Jerry so gut wie keine Anweisungen zur Musik, da er etwas verunsichert war, dem großen Goldsmith Anweisungen zu geben. Bei BASIC INSTINCT dann musste Verhoeven Jerry wohl vier- oder fünfmal sagen, dass ihm die Musik, die Jerry ihm vorspielte, nicht gefiel, beziehungsweise, dass sie seiner Meinung nach nicht zum Film passte. Sie sei „zu romantisch". Er spielte Jerry dann Sachen von Schostakowitsch und Strawinsky vor, weil das die Richtung war, die ihm vorschwebte.
Und eigentlich wollte Verhoeven Jerry auch für STARSHIP TROOPERS haben. Doch Jerrys Agent lehnte Verhoevens Anfrage ab, ohne Jerry zu fragen, weil Jerry wohl schon so viel zu tun hatte. Snow Files of the Week: "My Name Is Not Buddy/Rod Serling Appears/A True Fan/Dr. Wuzzle/ Dr. Thaddeous They/The Untold History of The X-Files/To Find Each Other/Remember How It Was" aus The X-Files, Episode "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat" (2018).Eine weitere abgedrehte Episode aus der Feder von Darin Morgan. Darin geht es um den "Mandela Effekt". Oder den "Mengele Effekt", was euch lieber ist. Dieser beschreibt das Gefühl, sich an etwas auf eine gewisse Art zu erinnern, was aber tatsächlich nie so war. Die Episode ist ein weiteres Beispiel für Darin Morgans Humor, da er sich mal wieder augenzwinkernd aktuellen Ereignissen und damit auch der Show nähert, dabei diese aber noch respektvoll behandelt.Es war außerdem eine weitere Möglichkeit für Mark, eine etwas ausgefallenere Musik zu schreiben. Wie das Thema für Reggie, der plötzlich auftaucht und Mulder erzählt, dass er und Reggie einst Partner waren bei den X-Akten, woran sich Mulder aber nicht erinnert, was für Reggie der Beweis dafür ist, dass jemand versucht, die Erinnerungen der Menschheit zu manipulieren. Oder auch die etwas parodistischen Hommagen an The Twilight Zone. Am Ende der Folge erklingt auch das "Home"-Thema von Snow aus dem zweiten Kinofilm "I Want To Believe".Die Musik stammt vom 2CD-Set von LLL. Das Set ist auf 3.000 Exemplare limitiert.Viel Spaß beim Hören!
