Waxwork Records: Danny Elfman - Beetlejuice 2

Es geht voran mit der Fortsetzung von "Beetlejuice", und nun hat Danny Elfman bestätigt, dass er den Score schreiben wird.

Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) has confirmed in a recent interview with Deadline that he will be be scoring Tim Burton’s upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, with plans to visit the set this summer in London. The movie is expected to star Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder who will reprise their roles from the original 1988 movie. They are joined by Jenna Ortega who will starsas the daughter of Ryder’s Lydia. No plot details have been announced yet. Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Smallville, Shanghai Noon) are reportedly writing the screenplay. The original  Beetlejuice film marked Elfman’s second feature for Burton following Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. Beetlejuice 2 is set to start production this summer. A release in 2024 is expected for the Warner Bros. Pictures production.

Elfman is also expected to be involved in scoring the second season of Gough’s & Millar’s Netflix series Wednesday produced by Burton.

Oh Gott. Der Film kann doch nur alles kaputtmachen. Müssen alte Männer immer nochmal das machen, was sie vor 30 oder 40 Jahren gemacht haben? Der alte Film war gut wie er ist und braucht kein Sequel. Ich bin so froh, dass Spielberg nie E.T. fortgesetzt hat.

Film war überraschend lustig, verrückt, skurril und grotesk. Bisschen Pacing-Probleme da zuviele Figuren, aber insgesamt sehr gelungen. Parodien von Its Alive, DePalma- uf  Mario Bava Filmen mit klasse Prostethic Effects, Stop Motion und überhaupt großartigen Designs.

Das aktuelle Song ‚Album‘ versteh ich nicht. Sehr kurz, beinhaltet eh nicht die Versionen aus dem Film, und zumindest auf AppleMusic sind auch nur 4 Cues abspielbar. 
warten wir also aufs Score-Album. Denke mal da sind dann auch die Filmversionen der Songs bei, die mir gut gefallen haben. 

Score selber blieb mir ausser den alten Themen ehrlich gesagt nicht hängen. Überbordender Krach wie immer halt seit zu langer Zeit bei Elfman. Weniger hätts auch getan.

Waxwork Records bringen zumindest schon mal die Vinyl des Songalbums mit zwei Elfman-Tracks.

Das Score-Album wurde gestern via WaterTower Music digital veröffentlicht und kommt mit 29 Tracks (46 Minuten) daher.

Ich werde mit dem Score auch nicht so recht warm—zumal es eher nach  Bacon und nicht wie Elfman klingt—außer vielleicht die Waiting Rooms. 
 

Film schaue ich erst an Halloween 🎃👻

Mehr Score war im Film eh nicht. Gegen all die songs und source music kam man halt nicht. Nicht genug Platz für den Score mehr als funktional zu sein. Is ja auch in Ordnung. Im Film wars alles gut.

Elfmans Score erscheint physisch nun zumindest auf Vinyl.
