Hallo Soundtrack-Boarder, wir starten einen erneuten Versuch, die manchmal aufkommende Flut neuer Soundtrack-Veröffentlichungen ein wenig übersichtlicher zu kanalisieren. In diesen Thread sollen künftig Veröffentlichungen hinein, die höchstwahrscheinlich eher ein kleineren, sehr überschaubaren Kreis von Filmmusikfreunden ansprechen. Beispiele für solche Veröffentlichungen sind in der unten angeführten Grafik (courtesy of Stefan Jania ) angegeben. Score-Veröffentlichungen von hoher oder höherer Popularität bekommen weiterhin ihre eigenen, einzelnen Threads. Der Grund für diesen Sammelbereich liegt in der Tatsache begründet, dass zwar oft viele kleinere, obskurere Releases vorgestellt werden, es jedoch seitens der User sehr wenig bis gar kein Feedback dazu gibt. Darunter leidet die Übersichtlichkeit im "Veröffentlichungs-Unterforum". Sollte sich jedoch aus diesem Sammelthread heraus zu bestimmten Veröffentlichungen eine längere Diskussion entwickeln, werden wir Mods/Admins diese in einen separaten Thread auslagern, damit dort weiter debattiert werden kann.

Intrada announces the premiere release of Charles Fox's score to the 1980 Paramount film Little Darlings. Fox wrote a lyrical score featuring solo harmonica, harpsichord, guitar and orchestra. “It was a sweet picture,” Fox recalls today. “Two young girls, younger women going to camp and getting involved in love affairs and romance and all that. I was really proud of that score, frankly." Fox worked on two songs for the movie with lyricist Carole Bayer Sager—a main title theme, “Little Darlings,” and a romantic song, “You and Me and Summer.” Ultimately neither song made it past the demo stage, but the melodies became foundational for the score. “Little Darlings” is an upbeat number that establishes the mood and energy of light summer fun. “You and Me and Summer,” on the other hand, is a wistful, low-key tune with a classic hook, intended as love music for Ferris’ relationship with the camp counselor. The opening piano figure expands on an opening riff from the “Little Darlings” song and forms the basis and mood for a lot of the underscore in the film. Vocal demos of the two songs are included as well among The Extras to give listeners a sense of what could have been. The album was sourced from multi-track elements stored at Paramount, but they were showing their age. Co-producer Chris Malone did extensive restoration in creating this album along with co-producer Dan Goldwasser. The result is a perfect-sounding album in crisp stereo to a charming and bittersweet score that has been often overlooked. The film stars Tatum O’Neal, Kristy McNichol Matt Dillon, and Armand Assante and follows two teenage girls from different backgrounds who meet at summer camp and make a bet to see who can lose their virginity first. Der Film läuft ja diese Woche auch in Deutschland an, nachdem er ja in Frankreich schon länger auf Rekorde- und Zuschauejagd ist. Nun habe ich eine Frage zur Musik, die u.a. von Ludovico Einaudi stammt. Er wird auch im Vorspann und Nachspann als Komponist genannt, aber dan dann auch jedes seiner Lieder nochmal einzeln aufgeführt wurde glaube ich, dass er oder man einfach schon vorhandene Stücke aus seinem Repertoire veröffentlicht hat und sich da die Frage stellt, ob sich da überhaupt eine Anschaffung der Soundtrack-CD lohnt oder es vielleicht ein Album von ihm gibt, dass die Musik und mehr von ihm bietet. Hab von ihm bisher nur die "Einaudi Collection". Versand nach Deutschland bekommen, was schon einiges ist aber aufgrund der hohen Versandkosten so kommt. Gibt es alternative, günstigere Varianten für französische CDs? Hätte eben gern diese Edition Prestige, wenn dann überhaupt.

Kommt im September, "expanded and remastered 8-CD box set". Die achte CD ist dann also in Ergänzung zu Intradas früherer Version der Serienmusik die damalige LP-Neuaufnahme. Ein paar Sachen, die damals nur Mono oder von den Stems gezogen waren, wurden hoffentlich verbessert. The 1983 film stars Sean Connery as James Bond 007 and is directed by Irvin Kershner (THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, ROBOCOP 2). The world was excited for the return of Sean Connery in his signature role. However, as NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, a remake of THUNDERBALL, was produced outside of the official film series it would mean iconic themes associated with the character could not return and all-new, original music would be required. Composer Michel Legrand (THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, YENTL) accepted this mission, crafting a dynamic and stylistically varied, jazz-infused musicscape that finally gets a deluxe showcase within this expanded and remastered 2-CD presentation. Produced by Neil S. Bulk and mastered by Doug Schwartz from a variety of stereo sources, Disc 1 presents the score in expanded form debuting music not available on prior releases. Disc 2 opens with the original soundtrack album featuring newly translated track titles. In a puzzling move, at the time of the film's release, this soundtrack was available only as a Japanese LP while in the US, a 7" 45 was issued with the Lani Hall title song on one side and an exclusive instrumental of "Une Chanson d'Amour" on the other. This latter single opens the "Additional Music" section. Limited to only 5,000 units, the album has sharp art direction by Dan Goldwasser with a new front cover designed by Jim Titus.
