Carlo Siliotto tritt die Nachfolge von Tan Dun bei der Fortsetzung von CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON an

 

Carlo Siliotto has signed on to score the upcoming martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend. The film is directed by Yuen Wo-Ping (Tai Chi Master) who has served as the martial arts choreographer on The Matrix trilogy and Kill Bill and stars Michelle Yeoh who is reprising her role as Yu Shu-Lien from the original film, as well as Donnie Yen as Silent Wolf. Harry Shum Jr., Jason Scott Lee, Roger Yuan, Eugenia Yuan and Natasha Liu Bordizzo are co-starring. No plot details have been announced yet, but the movie is said to tell a story of “lost love, young love, a legendary sword and one last opportunity at redemption”. John Fusco (Marco Polo, Young Guns, Hidalgo) has written the screenplay based on the novel Iron Knight, Silver Vase by Wang Dulu. Harvey Weinstein (The King’s Speech, The Artist) is producing the project with Peter Berg & Sarah Aubrey (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor). Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) and Ralph Winter (X-Men franchise) serve as executive producers alongside Anthony Wong and Bey Logan. Tan Dun has previously composed the music for Ang Lee’s 2000 original film and received an Academy Award for his score. Siliotto’s previous film scoring credits include The Punisher, Under the Same Moon, Instructions Not Included, Fluke and Nomad: The Warrior, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend is set to premiere on Netflix and in selected IMAX theaters on August 28, 2015.

Nun doch nicht der Carlo Siliotto... denn Shigeru Umebayashi ist bei der Fortsetzung von CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON nun für die Musik verantwortlich.

 

Shigeru Umebayashi has composed the music for the martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. The composer of such films as House of Flying Daggers, The Grandmaster and In the Mood for Love collaborated with Lang Lang who performs piano solos on the score. The pianist was previously featured soloist on such movies as The Painted Veil, My Week with Marilyn and this year’s Kung Fu Panda 3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is directed by Yuen Wo-Ping (Tai Chi Master) and stars Michelle Yeoh who returns as Yu Shu-Lien, as well as Donnie Yen, Harry Shum, Jr., Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jason Scott Lee, Eugenia Yuan and Roger Yuan. John Fusco has written the screenplay based on the Crane Iron Pentalogy by Wang Du Lu. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor) is producing the Weinstein Company,  China Film Co. and Pegasus Pictures with Charlie Nguyen (The Rebel). As previously reported, Carlo Siliotto was originally scoring the movie. Tan Dun scored Ang Lee’s 2000 original movie and received an Academy Award for his work. Sword of Destiny will premiere on February 26, 2016 on Netflix and in select IMAX theaters.

siliotto wäre zwar sehr interessant gewesen, aber umebayashi geht auch immer. auch wenn der mit dieser art film schon etwas geübter ist und somit wahrscheinlich überraschungen ausbleiben. freuen tu ich mich dennoch. ich mag ja sehr asiatische filmmusik.

find Umebayashi immer furchtbar eintönig und dröge... warum der für so Actionfilme angeheuert wird is mir schleierhaft... Dramen liegen dem eher...

 

Siliotto war aber auch ne merkwürdige Wahl...

Der vorrangegangene Teil hat mir wesentlich besser gefallen. Wie schon Ronin schrob, etwas langweilig, geht nicht wirklich ein.

Mir sind die Trommeln zuhäufig und oft im Vordergrund.

Die asiatischen Einschnitte sind meiner Meinung nach zu "offensichtlich" und teilweise öde.

Ich denke, der Soundtrack ist mehr dem Film dienlich, als dem eigenständigen Abspielen.

Läuft so nebenbei. Hinterlässt keinen Eindruck.
