Complete score from each thriller appears, mastered from pristine condition original 1/4" mono session masters vaulted at CBS. A STEP OUT OF LINE stars Peter Falk, Peter Lawford, Vic Morrow, has trio of stars planning perfect heist when things go terribly wrong. Goldsmith supplies requisite action, suspense but also writes several somber string-based cues that were deleted from final picture, including finale of score and film! World premiere release of vibrant soundtrack to third and final film starring Sidney Poitier as Police Lt. Virgil Tibbs, a commanding role begun with IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT. Gil Melle takes over scoring reins from Quincy Jones, creates dynamic, exciting score for orchestra with meld of jazz flavor, complex orchestral color. Evidence found in master tape boxes plus correspondence with late composer's spouse suggests discussions were in play to release brief album at time of initial film release, during heyday of United Artists Records 25-29 minute souvenirs of UA movies, albeit LP never materialized. Short running time is offset by vivid stereo audio from 1/4" two-track masters courtesy of MGM which feature most of score's major set-pieces. Gil Melle conducts. Intrada Special Collection release limited to 1000 copies!

Schöner Main Title auf dem ersten Goldsmith-Score und ganz nette Musik von Melle, aber beides für mich eindeutig zu wenig zu diesem Preis. Wie gut, dass meine "Holy Grails" seit letztem Jahr alle abgeräumt sind.

Gut, auf meiner alten Liste standen auch nur vier Titel. Und natürlich habe ich auch immer noch so ein paar Titel, die eine "Wunschliste" darstellen könnten (Burwell's The Jackal, Powell's Face/Off deutlich erweitert und natürlich alle noch nicht erweiterten Bonds), aber die waren halt nicht auf meiner alten Liste.

Toll, auf den experimentellen BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL warte ich schon lange, dürfte zum Interessantesten gehören, was Goldsmith im TV-Sektor abgeliefert hat. Eine wunderbare Überraschung von Intrada, ist gekauft!
