Carrie is a 1976 Horror film adapted from author Stephen King's very first published novel of the same name. The movie stars Sissy Spacek and is directed by Brian De Palma (Scarface, Phantom Of The Paradise).

The score by legendary composer Pino Donaggio (The Howling, Tourist Trap) skillfully captures the pressure of forced innocence, the humor of teen drama, and the trauma of coming of age as a girl in 1970’s America. The album also features the the tracks “Born To Have It All” and “I Never Thought Someone Like You Could Love Someone Like Me” by Katie Irving.

CARRIE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features the expanded film music re-mastered on CD, with new artwork by Phantom City Creative.

KeepMoving Records presents limited edition CD release of the animated movie The Magic Tower. Wizard of Balance by Dmitry Rybnikov.

Inspired by the real life historical building of the Sukharev Tower, The Magic Tower tells the story of a young magician’s apprentice who must wander into the Magical Worlds. There he must get magical ink from snake venom, dragon skin parchment, and a steel pen from the Great Griffin in order to restore his master’s magical power before his nemesis could strike.

The richly layered score offers highly engaging thematic material for the three magical objects as well as a memorably menacing theme for The Violet Wizard, a powerful enemy who has a personal score to settle at the Magic Tower. The extended composition process starting with the storyboards allowed the composer to create the best possible version of each cue with such a luxurious schedule. The score is a true fantasy tour de force, waiting to be discovered.

The liner notes by Gergely Hubai discuss the film and the score with comments from the composer as well.

KeepMoving Records presents limited edition CD release of Qinghai: Our National Park by Chad Cannon.

Qinghai: Our National Park is a gorgeous and heartfelt documentary series shot during 2020 establishing the country’s latest national park. Located high on the Tibetan plateau, Qinghai is one of the world’s greatest natural sanctuaries as the region contains the headwaters of China’s three great rivers: the Yangtze, Huang He and Mekong.

The thematically rich score is recorded with two different ensembles: the large strings and brass in Prague, the sound of which typifies the grandeur of the landscape, and a small chamber group in Los Angeles, which gives color and a sense of closeness to the characters in the film, be they insects, humans, animals, birds, or flowers. To complement the physical release, a digital release is available from MovieScore Media.

The liner notes feature extensive commentary from the composer.

KeepMoving Records presents limited edition CD release of The Claus Family 2 by Anne-Kathrin Dern.

The first movie introduced audiences to Jules (Mo Bakker) and her grandfather Noël (Jan Decleir) who turns out to be the real Santa Claus – the two had to team up to save Christmas despite the girl’s aversion to the holiday. In the sequel, Jules has already reembraced her love of Christmas, but a letter she receives poses an intriguing question that once again leads to conflicts with her grandfather.

The score very much tries to capture that struggle of a family trying to recapture the magic of Christmas and alternates between isolating melancholy, exhilarating adventure, hopeful warmth, and Christmas joy. While old themes are returning from the previous score, the new theme written for the tenor recorder and performed by the composer herself underscores the melancholy of the new character, Marie. To complement the physical release, a digital release is available from MovieScore Media.

The liner notes by Gergely Hubai discuss the film and the score with comments from the composer as well.

KeepMoving Records presents limited edition CD release of Comet Halley by Ivan Uryupin.

On New Year’s Eve, the four women of the Artemyev family are shacked up together, representing three generations of females: the old, cultured and slightly eccentric Yanga Lvovna shares her home with her daughter Yulia and her two granddaughters, Taisiya and Dusia. One snowy evening, a strange and awkward character named Halley appears in their apartment. The astrophysicist enters the isolated household and changes the lives of the four women…

The score by Ivan Uryupin is built upon the traditions of the comedies of the USSR and France of the 1980s and American music of the 1950s. The elegant and catchy themes underscore each of the four women, a calm saxophone theme of the jazz genre runs through the film as the leitmotif of the New Year’s mood whereas the finale balances out the comedic elements with a hint of lyrical dramedy.

The liner notes by Gergely Hubai discuss the film and the score with comments from the composer as well.

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents THE ERNEST GOLD COLLECTION, VOLUME 1, featuring music composed by Ernest Gold (EXODUS, TOM HORN, WALLENBERG: A HERO’S STORY) from several projects in his rich filmography for the very first time.

While the composer is best remembered for his acclaimed scores for Stanley Kramer and Otto Preminger, the B-movie projects earlier in his career presented plenty of musical gold of their own and with the first volume of THE ERNEST GOLD COLLECTION, we are pleased to offer a sampling of these, ranging from his second film score in 1946 to one of his last works in 1982. These tracks demonstrate Gold’s versatility in a number of different motion pictures throughout three decades of film scoring.

THE ERNEST GOLD COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 includes music from EXPOSED, SMOOTH AS SILK, THE NAKED STREET, UFO, MAN ON THE PROWL, WINK OF AN EYE and concluding with his score to SAFARI 3000, also known as TWO IN THE BUSH from 1982.

Ernest Gold came to the United States from Vienna in 1938, prompted by Hitler’s invasion of Austria, and started working as a piano accompanist and as a popular songwriter in New York City. Growing disillusioned by songwriting, Gold headed west in 1945, following an interest in writing music for Hollywood films. Within two weeks of his arrival in early July, Gold was quickly put to work scoring THE GIRL OF THE LIMBERLOST for Columbia Pictures. He would score forty B-movies of all types for numerous studios through the late 1950s for a variety of studios. Gold never lost track of his Viennese musical heritage and contributed first-rate musical scores to dozens of films big and small.

He began studying with composer George Antheil in 1947, early in his Hollywood career. During the 1950s he began orchestrating Antheil’s scores, and when Antheil began scoring Stanley Kramer’s pictures, Gold came along with him. When Antheil died before finishing the score for Kramer’s next film, the post-apocalypse drama, ON THE BEACH (1959), Gold assumed his role as Kramer’s primary composer, scoring such films as INHERIT THE WIND (1960), JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG (1961), and Kramer’s blockbuster comedy, IT’S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD (1963). Meanwhile, his association with Kramer led to other A-list movies, including Otto Preminger’s EXODUS (for which Gold won an Academy Award for best score and two Grammys for best soundtrack album and best song) and Sam Peckinpah’s war movie CROSS OF IRON (1977). Gold's contributions were recognized with four Academy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations. His work for ON THE BEACH also won Gold a Grammy Award. The Hollywood Walk of Fame has also recognized him with a star on the famed Hollywood Boulevard. Gold composed the music for the 1968 Broadway musical I’M SOLOMON. His classical works also included a piano concerto, a string quartet, and a piano sonata.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents THE ERNEST GOLD COLLECTION, VOLUME 1, featuring music composed by Ernest Gold from several projects in his filmography, appearing for the very first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by author Randall Larson.

THE ERNEST GOLD COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 is a limited edition release of 500 units. THE ERNEST GOLD COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 is expected to begin shipping the week of March 16th, 2022.

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents EXTERMINATOR 2 , featuring music composed by David Spear for the sequel to THE EXTERMINATOR, written and directed by Mark Buntzman, starring Robert Ginty, Frankie Faison, Deborah Geffner and Mario Van Peebles as X.

Released in 1984, EXTERMINATOR 2 features the return of war veteran John Eastland (Ginty), now in New York City, who nightly patrols the city streets with his army-grade flame thrower strapped to his back and trademark welder’s mask to protect his identity. After a gang of thugs brutally murders an elderly couple inside their convenience store, the Exterminator introduces himself by cooking some of them alive while they try to escape. Their leader, X (Van Peebles), vows revenge on him. At the same time, Eastland reconnects with an old war buddy, Be Gee (Faison), who drives a trash truck for the city. By chance, Be Gee recently foiled another heist by the same gang when he rammed his truck into an armored car while X and his boys were cleaning it out. X takes his revenge on Eastland by murdering his girlfriend (Geffner), which prompts Eastland to team up with Be Gee and convert his trash truck into a hulking war machine. The climax of the film takes place in an abandoned factory where the Exterminator and his friend go medieval on X and his associates, providing enough revenge carnage for at least two sequels.

The music for EXTERMINATOR 2 was composed by David Spear, a prolific composer, conductor and orchestrator who worked on a hefty slate of films throughout the 1980s including AIRPLANE!, HEAVY METAL, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, GHOSTBUSTERS, MY SCIENCE PROJECT, THREE AMIGOS!, NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER 2, MORTUARY ACADEMY and MAD DOG AND GLORY.

Spear composed and produced the music for EXTERMINATOR 2 entirely with synthesizers. He was brought aboard the project by agent Richard Kraft who at the time was employed at Cannon Films and was responsible for hiring the composers. The two main instruments Spear used to produce the score were the Yamaha DX-7 and an Oberheim DX drum machine. In addition to the underscore composed for the picture, Spear also penned a delightful love song with the help of Steve Goldring who wrote the lyrics and sang the duet with vocalist Lisa Donovan.

David Spear began his career orchestrating many film scores for Elmer Bernstein including AIRPLANE, ANIMAL HOUSE, HEAVY METAL and GHOSTBUSTERS. After his Broadway debut as Music Director of MERLIN, THE MAGICAL MUSICAL, Spear wrote scores for three Academy Award nominated films: RAINBOW WAR, BALLET ROBOTIQUE, and THE COURAGE TO CARE. He composed the music for the Emmy Award winning National Geographic documentary, SURVIVING EVEREST. One of his first major scores was for the 1981 vampire thriller FEAR NO EVIL, composed in collaboration with the film’s writer/director Frank LaLoggia. He led the Indianapolis Symphony for the 2008 premiere of THE LANGSTON HUGHES PROJECT featuring Ice-T and the Ron McCurdy Quartet. A dedicated educator, Spear served as faculty at Berklee College of Music (1991-1995), USC Thornton School of Music (1995-2006), NYU (2009-2013), and at Portland State as 2017 Artist-in-Residence. His work in academia and industry thrives on decades of creative collaboration with many notable artists, directors and scholars.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents EXTERMINATOR 2, featuring music composed by David Spear for the very first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by author and composer Brian Satterwhite, with the participation of the composer.

EXTERMINATOR 2 is a limited edition release of 500 units. EXTERMINATOR 2 is expected to begin shipping the week of March 16, 2022. Composer David Spear will sign the first 50 copies of EXTERMINATOR 2 sold through the website.

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents ATOMIC TRAIN, featuring music composed and conducted by Lee Holdridge (JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL, SPLASH, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) for the 1999 television mini-series directed by David Jackson and Dick Lowry, starring Rob Lowe, Kristin Davis, Esai Morales, John Finn, Mena Suvari, Don S. Davis and Edward Herrmann as The President.

Airing on the NBC network in 1999, ATOMIC TRAIN begins when a disposal services worker sneaks a nuclear bomb onto a freight train in order to avoid the few thousand dollars it would cost for a legitimate, secure transportation delivery. Unfortunately, the freight train he chooses is having a bad day, becoming a runaway when its brakes fail which leads to its derailing outside downtown Denver. When the bomb is discovered and eventually explodes during the rescue process, most of Denver is left in ruins. In the middle of this disaster, NTSB investigator John Seger (Lowe) helicopters to the rushing train to try and fix its brakes while his family happens to be at home in the threatened blast area and are waiting for his return.

In 1999 composer Lee Holdridge (THE BEASTMASTER, SPLASH, THE MISTS OF AVALON, OLD GRINGO) was in the midst of a prolific run of scoring made-for-TV movies after beginning his scoring career in 1970 with a variety of feature films. ATOMIC TRAIN was the first of two disaster miniseries Holdridge would score for NBC (followed in 2004 by the Seattle earthquake movie 10.5). The score is built around two distinctive themes – the first is a very effective percussively-driven suspense/danger motif with low brass filtering. The second is a warm theme for the family which heightens their bond and their struggle to reconnect when John is in danger on the train and later, when his family are threatened by the bomb.

Lee Holdridge was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1944. He spent his early years in Costa Rica, beginning music studies on the violin at the age of ten with Hugo Mariani, then the conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica. Later, Holdridge moved to New York to continue his music studies and begin his professional career as a composer. Holdridge’s successes in New York came to the attention of Neil Diamond who brought Holdridge to Los Angeles to write arrangements for his forthcoming albums. A string of Gold and Platinum hits followed, which led to Diamond and Holdridge collaborating on the film score for JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL. Since that time, Holdridge has scored numerous film such as SPLASH, BIG BUSINESS, MR. MOM, MICKI & MAUDE, 16 DAYS OF GLORY, SYLVESTER, A TIGER’S TALE, EL PUEBLO DEL SOL, OLD GRINGO, PASTIME and BROTHERS AT WAR. His television work include MOONLIGHTING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the complete eight hour remake of EAST OF EDEN, DREAMER OF OZ, Hallmark Hall Of Fame’s ONE AGAINST THE WIND and THE STORY LADY. Lee also began a very successful collaboration with Moriah Films, the film division of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, with the Academy Award winning documentary feature film THE LONG WAY HOME. In addition to his film career, Mr. Holdridge has had an extensive repertoire of concert works performed and recorded. He has also worked with many major recording artists having written, arranged and conducted for Placido Domingo, Barbra Streisand, Brian May of Queen, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond, John Denver, Neil Sedaka, Daniel Rodriguez, Al Jarreau, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Jane Oliver and many others.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring ATOMIC TRAIN to compact disc for the first time, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland under the composer’s supervision. The booklet includes exclusive liner notes written by author Randall Larson with the participation of the composer.

ATOMIC TRAIN is a limited edition release of 500 units. ATOMIC TRAIN will begin shipping the week of March 16th, 2022. The first 50 copies will be autographed by composer Lee Holdridge.

Waxwork Records is proud to present C.H.U.D. Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! In close partnership with the film's composers Martin Cooper and David Hughes, we located the original 1984 master tapes, restored them, and mixed and mastered the complete film music to create the definitive and official C.H.U.D. soundtrack album release.

Released in 1984, C.H.U.D. has gained a devoted cult following amongst B-Movie Horror fans. The film is widely referenced in pop culture via The Simpsons, Archer, and most recently, Jordan Peele's Us. C.H.U.D. has also served as a launching pad for several actors such as John Goodman (Roseanne, The Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona), Daniel Stern (Home Alone), and John Heard (Home Alone).

The primitive electronic score composed and performed by Martin Cooper and David Hughes captures the seedy, grim landscape that embodied early 1980s NYC via synth drones, sound design, loops, and arpeggiated notes.

Waxwork is thrilled to present the complete film music to C.H.U.D. on CD package featuring art by Ghoulish Gary Pullin, gatefold jackets with matte satin coating, and more.

Newly remastered edition.
12-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Sylvain Pfeffer.

To mark the 30th anniversary of Georges Delerue's passing (1925-2022), Music Box Records and TF1 Studio proudly present the newly remastered edition of his score to the 1964 classic adventure film That Man from Rio (L'Homme de Rio), directed by Philipe de Broca (King of Hearts, Chouans!) and starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Françoise Dorléac.

That Man from Rio was the director’s fifth feature film and marked a clear shift in his career, moving from tender, light-hearted romances to large-scale adventure movies. The original soundtrack shows an evolution in the composer’s musical approach for a Philippe de Broca movie. The numerous action scenes of the feature film entail a musical writing that is very precisely synchronized with the pictures, and require a larger orchestra and more diverse musical styles. The film's original soundtrack features a suspense-filled symphonic score and traditional rythms with a thundering batucada over the opening credits. Georges Delerue wrote four motifs to accompany the various characters of the film. The delicate romantic theme of Agnès, played on the flute, accompanied by layers of strings and harp arpeggios. Professor Catalan (Jean Servais) and the statuettes thieves are characterized by a five-note xylophone motif, sometimes doubled with brass instruments. As for Adrien himself, he is accompanied by a fast-paced theme whose style oscillates between a military march, circus music and carnival music. Lastly, to accompany the shots filmed in Paris, George Delerue composed a piano theme played in octaves, in order to better highlight its delicate melody, in the spirit of Frédéric Chopin’s piano concertos. The original soundtrack also includes popular Brazilian songs and music composed by Anibal Alves de Almeida and Catulo de Paula.

Supervised by Colette Delerue, this new French 2022 release has been newly remastered from the scoring session elements and offers a new assembled program different from the previous Kritzerland release in 2009. The CD comes with a 12-page booklet with liner notes by Sylvain Pfeffer, discussing the film and the score. The release is limited to 1000 units.

In collaboration with Lionceau Films and Pathé Films, Music Box Records presents the new score composed by acclaimed composer Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, Black Box). Adapted from Marcel Pagnol's eponymous book, the film Le Temps des Secrets (The Time of Secrets, 2022), directed by Christophe Barratier (The Chorus), stars Guillaume de Tonquédec, Mélanie Doutey, François-Xavier Demaison, Anne Charrier and introducing Léo Campion.

Marseille, July 1905. Nearly a teenager, Marcel Pagnol embarks in his last summer vacation before high school and returns, at last, to his beloved hills in Provence. What begins as a summer of boyhood adventures becomes one of the first loves, and unearthed secrets.

Once upon a time, there was the story of a 210-year-old oak tree and its kingdom. The film gathers an extraordinary cast: squirrels, insects, birds, ants, field mice… A vibrant, humming and marvellous world whose entire destiny revolves around this oak.

For this ode to life and biodiversity, Cyrille Aufort composed a very delicate score, based on a lyrical melody for choir and orchestra. The composer mixed some electronic textures in his orchestral palette in order to represent the sensory and poetic world of the animals that inhabit the oak tree. The album also features Tim Dup's original song written for the film and arranged by Cyrille Aufort.

Le Chêne et ses habitants, directed by Laurent Charbonnier and Michel Seydoux, is released in French theaters in February 23, 2022.

Newly remastered edition. World Premiere CD release.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Nicolas Magenham.
Limited Edition of 350 units.

In collaboration with EMI Music Publishing and MK2 Films, Music Box Records proudly presents the premiere CD release of two Gabriel Yared scores: Zone rouge (Zone Red, 1986) and La Java des ombres (Shadow Dance, 1983).

In the 1980s, between two films for the younger generation of directors (Betty Blue, Camille Claudel...), Gabriel Yared also worked with more experienced filmmakers during this prolific era (Robert Enrico and Romain Goupil). For both films, the synthetic and often surprising sonorities invented by Yared and his close collaborator Georges Rodi give an unexpected feel to the whole – one that could be described as metallic or chilling, groovy or dreamlike. The marriage of different musical colours between the synths and acoustic instruments expresses the beautiful weirdness of these two unconventional scores.

Supervised by Gabriel Yared, this present edition has been fully remastered from complete scoring session elements. The package includes a 8-page booklet featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Nicolas Magenham, discussing the films and the scores. This is a limited edition of 350 units.

Und von BSX gibt es STRANGE BEHAVIOR von Tangerine Dream.

Zitat

Strange_Behavior_Cover2_1024x1024.jpg?v=

BSX Records presents the soundtrack release of STRANGE BEHAVIOR, featuring music composed by Tangerine Dream (SORCERER, THIEF, RISKY BUSINESS) for the 1981 horror film directed by Michael Laughlin (STRANGE INVADERS), written by Michael Laughlin and Bill Condon (GODS AND MONSTERS), starring Michael Murphy, Louise Fletcher, Dan Shor, Dey Young, Arthur Dignam, Marc McClure and Fiona Lewis.

Released in 1981, STRANGE BEHAVIOR was produced by Antony I. Ginnane and is considered part of the Ozploitation film movement of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s that included THE MAN FROM HONG KONG, THE DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND, LONG WEEKEND, PATRICK, MAD MAX, THE ROAD WARRIOR, ROADGAMES, TURKEY SHOOT, BMX BANDITS and RAZORBACK, among other films. Also known as DEAD KIDS and SMALL TOWN MASSACRE, STRANGE BEHAVIOR takes place in the small town of Galesburg, Illinois. John Brady (Murphy) is the chief of police. His son, Pete (Shor) attends high school with his friend, Oliver (McClure). Life takes a turn for the worse when John has to investigate the brutal murders of four townsfolk in four separate incidents. John hasn’t been himself since the suspicious death of his wife Catherine years earlier, which he always believed had something to do with her boss, Dr. Le Sange (Dignam), who himself died shortly after Catherine's passing. At the same time, Pete volunteers to participate in a medical experiment conducted by Dr. Gwen Parkinson (Lewis) to earn some extra cash for his college applications, unknown to John. Parkinson is involved in the same experiment Catherine was working on when she died and as the story continues, John discovers that the experiment is directly related to the recent deaths around town and his own past.

The music for STRANGE BEHAVIOR was composed by the pioneering German electronica band Tangerine Dream. Founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream is a ground-breaking musical act that veered away from the influence of traditional Anglo-American rock/pop and instead relied upon hypnotic rhythms, sustained drones, musique concrète, tape-music looping techniques, and the proliferation of early synthesizers. STRANGE BEHAVIOR was produced early in their career, following the success of their scores for SORCERER in 1977 and THIEF also in 1981. The band included the classic lineup of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Johannes Schmoelling. After completing STRANGE BEHAVIOR, Tangerine Dream would continue to score many iconic Hollywood pictures including RISKY BUSINESS, THE KEEP, FIRESTARTER, RED HEAT, VISION QUEST, LEGEND, NEAR DARK, and THREE O’CLOCK HIGH. And yet somehow, their score for STRANGE BEHAVIOR never got a soundtrack release. Until now.

BuySoundtrax Records is excited to present STRANGE BEHAVIOR on compact disc for the first time, remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland from the best available elements provided by the production company. The booklet includes exclusive liner notes written by author and composer Brian Satterwhite.

STRANGE BEHAVIOR is a limited edition release of 1000 units. STRANGE BEHAVIOR is expected to begin shipping the week of April 4, 2022

Neu von Quartet: Virus (Apocalipsis canibal), The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue und Incubo sulla citta’ contaminata.

VIRUS.jpg

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Cinevox Records, presents the premiere release of the soundtrack to Bruno Mattei’s 1980 iconic zombie film VIRUS (aka VIRUS, L’INFERNO DEI MORTI VIVENTI, aka APOCALIPSIS CANÍBAL, aka HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD), which compiles together both library music and an original score composed by Gianni Dell’Orso.

VIRUS largely takes place in Papua New Guinea, as a group of mercenaries are sent to resolve an imminent zombie outbreak. Their unlikely partner is a female journalist (Margit Evelyn Newton) who gets into a sexy native costume for no apparent reason. Despite a notoriously difficult shoot that necessitated the inclusion of documentary footage to establish the location, VIRUS still makes an impression as a cult zombie flick that mixes in exotica themes into its production.

The original budget didn’t allow for Mattei’s wish of having an original score by Goblin, so a deal was worked out to feature some of the band’s tracks from ZOMBI (1978) and CONTAMINATION (1980). Luis Bacalov’s rhythmic theme for Fernando Di Leo’ DIAMANTI SPORCHI DI SANGUE (1978) was also raided for the main title. However, the film does feature an original cool score by Gianni Dell’Orso providing percussion-based tribal music.

This CD, produced by Claudio Fuiano and mastered by Chris Malone, compiles Dell’Orso’s original tracks together with the Goblin and Bacalov tracks that were featured in the movie. The package includes liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the film and the music.

THE-LIVING-DEAD-AT-THE-MANCHESTER-MORGUE

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Beat Records, reissues fan-favorite experimental Giuliano Sorgini score for Jordi Grau’s masterpiece THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE (aka LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE, aka NO PROFANAR EL SUEÑO DE LOS MUERTOS, aka NON SI DEVE PROFANARE IL SOGNO DEI MORTI)

An early Euro-zombie movie set in England follows the investigation into an attack of the undead feasting on human flesh. As opposed to a virus or other biological phenomena, this story reveals that untested farming equipment is responsible for these inhuman abominations. Best known for its groundbreaking gory effects and realistic-looking carnage, the cult movie has a score that matches its notoriety.

In a technological innovation, composer Giuliano Sorgini (ZOO FOLLE, UN URLO DALLE TENEBRE) was given the budget to record his score on four-track tape, a historical first for Italian horrors. The core idea for the score is giving sound to the titular dead – the screams, howls, laughs, cries and whispers. Recalling the works of Italian avant-garde composer Luciano Berio, the inclusion of human voices (including Grau’s own voice in the mix) reminds audiences of the humanity of these now disfigured characters.

Remastered by Chris Malone from the original album stereo master tape, this release features new liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the film and the score with comments from director Jordi Grau.

INCUBO.jpg

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Cinevox Records, reissues classic Stelvio Cipriani score for Umberto Lenzi’s 1980 cult horror plague film INCUBO SULLA CITTA’ CONTAMINATA (aka NIGHTMARE CITY, aka LA INVASIÓN DE LOS ZOMBIES ATÓMICOS)

Though Lenzi objected to calling this movie a zombie flick, this Spanish-Italian-Mexican co-production tried to ride the wave of Z-flicks with a new twist. Instead of revived dead, these zombies are the result of radiation poisoning. Ace reporter Dean Miller (played by Hugo Stiglitz) is on the case, but he has to save his wife from a hospital before he can get to the bottom of this mystery and find out what had really caused the zombie epidemic.

Stelvio Cipriani’s iconic score for INCUBO SULLA CITTA’ CONTAMINATA is largely electronic with a few live instruments providing a bit of light-hearted counterpoint to carnage. The music features heart-pumping action cues for the attacks themselves and a restrained solitude theme for the moments of reflection on the anti-nuclear message; even a selection of catchy pop tracks pop up in the mix. These fun bits serve as the perfect counterpoint to the film’s most notorious sequence, a zombie hoard’s attack on a televised aerobics class.

This CD features the same musical contents as the out-of-print complete score released by Digitmovies in 2013 and produced by Claudio Fuiano, but for this Quartet edition the audio has been newly remastered by Chris Malone from the original session tapes. The package features new liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the film and the score.

NO NAME & DYNAMITE von Dragon's Domain.

Zitat

No_Name_Dynamite_Presentation_Pack_1024x

CD includes Digital Download - 24 Bit Wav, MP3 and Digital Booklet
(Digital version contains bonus tracks)

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the original motion picture soundtrack featuring music composed by Chuck Cirino (CHOPPING MALL, NOT OF THIS EARTH, DEATHSTALKER II and RETURN OF SWAMP THING ) for NO NAME & DYNAMITE, the 2022 Western directed by Errol Sack, written by Clint Lilley, Errol Sack and Steven Shaffer, starring Chris Northup, Rich Ting, Natalie Burn, Vernon Wells, Bonnie Morgan, Kacie Borrowman, Don Collier, Kelly Lynn Reiter, James Chalke, Walter Scott and Jim Palmer.

NO NAME & DYNAMITE tells the story of two ruthless bounty hunters, No Name (Northup) and Dynamite (Ting), starting with their initial meeting and their decision to partner up and help each other out when it comes to the more challenging bounties. When John Wilkes Booth shows up at their door, they have to decide whether they will turn him in for the bounty or honor his request for protection. Director Errol Sack was Inspired by his love for the classic Spaghetti Westerns of the 1960s and 1970s, where there was dark humor, great character actors and the kind of music that we never hear anymore, to realize NO NAME & DYNAMITE. After being introduced to composer Chuck Cirino, the two bonded over their common love for the genre and Cirino agreed to write the music for the film.

Chuck Cirino did not start his career as a composer, but rather as a programmer in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania for a Public Access cable TV station, where he learned how to create TV shows by himself, without a crew. In his spare time, he experimented with the station’s video equipment and created a series of genre productions that allowed him the opportunity to learn how to incorporate special effects into his work. After relocating to California, Cirino transitioned into directing high-end special effects television commercials. His first work as composer was for the 1980 cult film GYPSY ANGELS, which starred Vanna White and Richard Roundtree. Since then he has scored films for Roger Corman, directed music videos for bands like Earth, Wind & Fire and The Dickies’ KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, and has recorded over 40 music soundtracks for feature films including SORCERESS, HARD TO DIE, TRANSYLVANIA TWIST, and many others. Most recently, he has scored A DOGGONE CHRISTMAS, A DOGGONE HOLLYWOOD and A DOGGONE ADVENTURE.

Chuck has worked as a producer, director, filmmaker, videographer, animator, special effects technician, editor, and composer. He executive produces and directs WEIRD TV, a television series featuring weird Americans, bizarre news, unbelievable events and outlandish skits. Chuck’s credits also include executive producer and director of the Sci Fi Channel projects, WORLDWIDE WEIRD and WARPED IN SPACE, and BABERELLAS, an independent Sci Fi feature distributed by Xenon Pictures.

Chuck also produced BURNING MAN 1994, the very first documentary on the subject. Chuck works and resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Flordilyn and a cat, Too Too. His spare time is spent growing an experimental back-yard, permaculture food forest.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents NO NAME & DYNAMITE, featuring music composed by Chuck Cirino for the first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by the film’s director, Errol Sack

NO NAME & DYNAMITE is a limited edition release of 500 units. NO NAME & DYNAMITE is expected to begin shipping the week of April 4th, 2022. Composer Chuck Cirino will sign the first 50 copies of NO NAME & DYNAMITE sold through the website.
