Morton_Stevens_Collection_Volume_3-Prese

Dragon’s Domain Records presents THE MORTON STEVENS COLLECTION: Volume 3 featuring the premiere release of music from the original scores for two films from the composer’s extensive filmography, M STATION: HAWAII and MEMORIES NEVER DIE.

Airing on television in 1980, M STATION: HAWAII blended espionage, tropical adventure, and Cold War intrigue into a compact action thriller. Directed by Jack Lord, it was filmed in 1979 just prior to the start of filming the twelfth and final season of the original HAWAII FIVE-O. M STATION: HAWAII introduces a covert intelligence unit operating out of the Hawaiian Islands and the cast included Jared Martin, JoAnn Harris, Andrew Duggan, Dana Wynter, Andrew Prine and Lord as Admiral Henderson. Intended as a pilot for an ongoing series, M STATION: HAWAII was not picked up and eventually was broadcast over a year later. The film would also be Jack Lord’s final performance. As the director, Lord utilized much of the crew he had been working with for over a decade on HAWAII FIVE-O, which included composer Morton Stevens. For M STATION: HAWAII, the composer brings a strong sense of rhythmic energy and dramatic color to the score, blending driving orchestral action cues with subtle touches suggesting the Pacific setting. The result is a soundscape that supports both suspenseful espionage scenes and the film’s scenic Hawaiian backdrop.

Airing on television in 1982, MEMORIES NEVER DIE was directed by Sandor Stern, written by Zoa Sherburne, Ken Trevey and Stern, starring Lindsay Wagner, Gerald McRaney, Melissa Michaelsen, Peter Billingsley, Barbara Cason, Richard McKenzie, Richard Yniguez, Jay Robinson and Barbara Babcock. MEMORIES NEVER DIE is a gripping melodramatic thriller that explores the trauma of a family that must contend with the return of its matriarch, Joanne Tilford (Wagner) who has spent the last six years in a psychiatric hospital. Her husband, Howdy (McRaney) is suffering from his own health issues and is desperate to reintegrate Joanne back into the family.Their children however are unwilling to accept her, as well as practically everyone else they know because of a terrible tragedy at the heart of the family drama. For MEMORIES NEVER DIE, the composer provides an appropriately dramatic orchestral score to play on these emotional conflicts.

Born In Newark, New Jersey in 1929,Morton Stevens studied composition at the Juilliard School and became the arranger and later, the musical director, for Sammy Davis, Jr., Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Liza Minnelli. He also served as music director for CBS and was a prolific composer and arranger for television for over 30 years. Best known for the famous theme music for HAWAII FIVE-0, for which he won two Emmys, Stevens contributed music to many television shows, including GUNSMOKE, POLICEWOMAN, THRILLER, WAGON TRAIN, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., CIMARRON STRIP, THE WILD WILD WEST and TINY TOON ADVENTURES. Stevens also served on the board of directors for the Academy Of Television Arts And Sciences. Surprisingly, he only scored a few feature films including ACT OF PIRACY, THEY STILL CALL ME BRUCE, CRACKING UP and THE RAIDERS. Stevens scored 101 TV movies and nine motion pictures in a three-decade career that began in the early 1960s and ran until 1990. A former student of Jerry Goldsmith, he co-scored the 1981miniseries MASADA and Arthur Hayley’s WHEELS in 1978, for which he bothreceived Emmy nominations.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents the premiere soundtrack release of THE MORTON STEVENS COLLECTION: Volume 3,featuring music composed by Morton Stevens for M STATION: HAWAII and MEMORIES NEVER DIE. The liner notes are written by Scott Davis. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland.

Force_Five-Presentation_Pack_1024x1024.j

Dragon’s Domain Records presents FORCE: FIVE, featuring music composed by William Goldstein for the 1981 martial arts action film directed by Robert Clouse, written by Clouse, Emil Farkas and George Goldsmith, starring Joe Lewis, Sonny Barnes, Richard Norton, Benny Urquidez, Ron Hayden, Pam Huntington, Michael Prince, Bob Schott, Amanda Wyss, Tom Villard and Master Bong Soo Han as the Reverend Rhee.

In FORCE: FIVE, William Stark, a top government agent, assembles a force of five martial arts experts to carry out a near-impossible assignment. They must infiltrate a religious cult led by the Reverend Rhee (Soo Han), one of the world’s most powerful religious leaders. Rhee lives on an island, surrounded by an army of trained mercenaries and fighters, his cult attracting the children of the world’s wealthiest people so that he can convince them to relinquish their inheritance and sign them over to Rhee.

Clouse started out his career strong, directing Bruce Lee in ENTER THE DRAGON and made many martial arts driven films afterwards, including BLACK BELT JONES, GAME OF DEATH, BATTLE CREEK BRAWL, GYMKATA and CHINA O’BRIEN, among others. His films featured many well known actors who were also skilled martial artists, including Jim Kelly, Jackie Chan and Cynthia Rothrock. While many martial arts action films of the time would focus on one or two fight styles, FORCE: FIVE represented an opportunity to feature a rich diversity of fighting styles with the fight choreography.

FORCE: FIVE was scored by composer William Goldstein. He has been a recording artist for Motown and CBS Masterworks. Goldstein has scored over 50 Movie and Television projects, including FAME & THE MIRACLE WORKER. He has been a pioneer in the use of computers and electronic instruments in music. His most distinguishing characteristic as a composer / pianist is his gift of “Instant Composition”, which he shares with audiences through master classes, recitals and albums.

Goldstein early on established himself as a composer who was comfortable all over the musical map. In addition to film scoring, recording and concert scores performed from Carnegie Hall to Symphony Hall Boston, he established himself as an innovator of New Technology.

In addition to his professional activities in music and film, Mr. Goldstein is a founder of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, a founding director of the California State Summer School for the Arts, and served for many years on both the music branch executive committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as well as its foreign language (now International film) committee. He has also been a visiting artist for the Academy, lecturing from the Far East to the Middle East on contemporary aesthetics as well as music in film.

His filmography includes music for films such as THE BINGO LONG TRAVELING ALL-STARS & MOTOR KINGS, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, FORCED VENGEANCE, FAME, UP THE CREEK, SAVING GRACE, HELLO AGAIN, INTIMATE POWER, SHOCKER, BLOOD RIVER, THE QUARREL, Danielle Steele’s ZOYA and THE MIRACLE WORKER, as well as contributing music on television for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC,THE TWILIGHT ZONE, RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE MAGICAL WORLD OF DISNEY and OCEANQUEST.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents FORCE: FIVE, featuring music composed by William Goldstein for the first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by Mike Joffe.

Thief_of_Bagdad-Presentation_Pack_226193

Citadel Records, a division of the BSX Group, presents THE THIEF OF BAGDAD, featuring music composed by the legendary Miklós Rózsa (BEN-HUR, KING OF KINGS, EL CID) for the 1940 fantasy adventure classic, conducted on this release by the great Elmer Bernstein (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD) for the film directed by Ludwig Berger, Michael Powell and Tim Whelan, written by Miles Malleson and Lajos Biro, starring Conrad Veidt, Sabu, June Duprez, John Justin, Miles Malleson, Morton Selten, Mary Morris Hay Petrie, Allan Jeayes as the Story Teller and Rex Ingram as the Djinn.

Released in 1940, THE THIEF OF BAGDAD is a British fantasy film classic remake of the 1924 classic of the same name. The film remains a timeless cinema masterpiece with groundbreaking technical achievements and Oscar-winning special effects that still dazzle today. The fantastical elements of the film create spectacular visual splendor, enhanced by gorgeous Technicolor cinematography. Fans of the Disney versions of Aladdin can see many of its successful elements appearing here for the first time and for composer Miklós Rózsa, THE THIEF OF BAGDAD is one of the films that established his reputation both in Europe and America. And he was only 30 years old when he wrote it...

Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1907, composer Miklós Rózsa studied the violin from the age of 5. While living in London in 1935, Rózsa was hired by legendary producer Alexander Korda to score his film, KNIGHT WITHOUT ARMOR. Later, while composing the music for another Korda production, THE THIEF OF BAGDAD, Rózsa moved to California, where he remained for the rest of his life. Throughout his film career, he worked in many genres but distinguished himself writing music for the film noirs of the 1940’s and the great costume epics of the 1950’s and 1960’s. A classically trained composer, Rózsa was well known for his dedication to researching the musical history of the time periods of the films he worked on. His filmography includes music composed for films such as THE THIEF OF BAGDAD, THE JUNGLE BOOK, DOUBLE INDEMNITY, SPELLBOUND, THE LOST WEEKEND, QUO VADIS, IVANHOE, JULIUS CAESAR, KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE, BEN-HUR, KING OF KINGS, EL CID, THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD and TIME AFTER TIME, among others.

From 1974 to 1979, composer Elmer Bernstein, a great believer in preserving the film music of the past, indulged an expensive whim: Re-recording excerpts from memorable scores by esteemed colleagues ranging from Alfred Newman and Miklós Rózsa to Alex North and Bernard Herrmann. This collection would span fourteen LPS and include many previously unreleased film scores, including the first recording of Herrmann’s lost score to TORN CURTAIN. Later, these historic recordings were released on compact disc by Film Score Monthly in 2006 in a limited edition box set that has continued to become scarce over the years.

Citadel Records, a division of the BSX Group, is proud to bring these recordings back into the marketplace, under license from the composer’s estate with the music newly remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and retaining the original liner notes written by Christopher Palmer. THE THIEF OF BAGDAD features Miklós Rózsa’s music conducted by Elmer Bernstein, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Saltarello Choir.

THE THIEF OF BAGDAD is a limited edition soundtrack release. THE THIEF OF BAGDAD is expected to begin shipping the week of June 29th, 2026.

Meg_Laurel_Presentation_Pack_2bb80dea-94

Dragon’s Domain Records presents THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY OF DOCTOR MEG LAUREL, featuring music composed by Gerald Fried (THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., STAR TREK, ROOTS) for the 1979 adventure drama directed by Guy Green, written by Michael Berk, Joe Fineman and Douglas Schwartz, starring Lindsay Wagner, Jane Wyman, Andrew Duggan, Gary Lockwood, Brock Peters, John Reilly, Charles Tyner, Dorothy McGuire, Woodrow Parfrey, Peggy Walton-Walker, Kath Soucie, Tracey Gold and James Woods as Sin Eater.

Airing on television in 1979, THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY OF DOCTOR MEG LAUREL follows Meg Laurel (Wagner), a recent graduate of Harvard Medical School in 1932 who runs afoul of a corrupt and powerful local judge. Worried about the damage the judge might cause to both of their careers prompts Meg to make the decision to leave her husband in Boston and return to the orphanage where she was raised to visit her friend, Effie (McGuire). Meg learns that the orphanage has been closed and Effie has returned to her hometown of Eagle’s Nest high in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When she arrives at Effie’s home, she finds her friend on her deathbed under of the care of the local healer, Granny Arrowroot (Wyman). Meg’s arrival is immediately met with suspicion and hostility. Meg is unable to save Effie using her modern medical knowledge but Effie asks her to stay in Eagle’s Nest to help her people. Meg immediately clashes with Granny because of their different approaches to healing but overtime they are able to compromise and learn from each other.

For THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY OF DOCTOR MEG LAUREL, Gerald Fried provides music that underscores both the drama faced by Meg and her humanity. His score avoids melodrama instead emphasizing warmth, lyricism and quiet determination. Gentle string themes accompany Meg’s moments of compassion and resolve while darker harmonies highlight the suspicion and tension within the town.

Born February 1928 in the Bronx, Gerald Fried’s interest in music found its first fruition at the High School of Music & Art in New York City. He attended The Juilliard School of Music as an oboe major, graduating in 1945. Among his earliest friends was a bright kid named Stanley Kubrick. The two of them used to hang around Greenwich Village and talk about their budding interests, Fried’s in classical music and Kubrick’s in filmmaking. Their interests merged when Kubrick began filming DAY OF THE FIGHT, an 18-minute short about boxing. Knowing Fried was a music major, Kubrick asked him if he could write the score for his boxing picture. Fried agreed, then spent months going to the movies to learn how film scores worked, there being no schools or courses on film music in those days. Fried wrote an effective score, and Kubrick sold the film to RKO Pathé. Fried rejoined Kubrick to score four more of his films, including THE KILLING and PATHS TO GLORY, where the young filmmaker first gained his reputation.

After the success of THE KILLING in 1956, Kubrick moved to Los Angeles, shortly followed by Fried, who was immediately hired to compose and arrange music for several films, including THE VAMPIRE, THE RETURN OF DRACULA, MACHINE GUN KELLY and I, MOBSTER, I BURY THE LIVING, and TIMBUKTU(1959). By the 1960s, Fried moved into television, scoring episodes of such seminal shows of the decade as GILLIGAN’S ISLAND, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE and STAR TREK. By the 1970s Fried was composing music for numerous made-for-TV movies. His best-known score of the decade was for the 1977 miniseries ROOTS, which he took over scoring when Quincy Jones fell behind and was unable to meet the broadcast deadline for the eight-hour miniseries. Both Jones and Fried won Emmy Awards for their musical efforts on the series. During the ‘80s, Fried continued to compose music for television series, movies, and documentaries, and an occasional feature film. These are just two of the many magnificent scores Fried wrote throughout his career. The composer passed away on February 17, 2023 at the age of 95. His work remains a testament to his talent and dedication to the art of composition and he is remembered as a key figure in the evolution of music for film and television.

Les caprices de Marie • Julie Pot-de-colle • L'ingénu | Georges DELERUE | CD

Remastered and expanded edition.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Sylvain Pfeffer.
Limited edition of 500 units.

In collaboration with EMI Music Publishing France, Music Box Records presents an album dedicated to three rare scores composed by Georges Delerue for 1970s cinema: Les Caprices de Marie (Give Her the Moon), Julie pot-de-colle (Julie Gluepot) and L’Ingénu (The Artless One).

For Les Caprices de Marie (1970), Philippe de Broca’s delightful romantic comedy starring Marthe Keller and Philippe Noiret, Georges Delerue composed a score of great delicacy, dominated by a bittersweet waltz infused with charm and nostalgia. Delivered through a subtle dialogue between piano, accordion, and strings, the music beautifully captures the film’s tender and gently ironic spirit. For the end credits, the waltz is transformed into a song with lyrics by Henri Lanoë, beautifully performed by Cora Vaucaire. In Julie pot-de-colle (Philippe de Broca, 1977), starring Jean-Claude Brialy and Marlène Jobert, the composer wrote a main theme in waltz time that beautifully encapsulates the complicated yet endearing romance between the two characters. Finally, for L’Ingénu (Norbert Carbonnaux, 1972), the director’s final film featuring Renaud Verley, Jean Lefebvre, and Marianne Eggerickx, Delerue playfully pastiches Baroque and early 18th-century music. His score mischievously alternates between folk, religious, and military-inspired pieces.

This present edition, remastered by Christophe Hénault from the recording sessions, includes previously unreleased tracks. These three works offer a wonderful insight into the grace, delicacy, and musical wit so characteristic of Georges Delerue. The album includes an 8-page booklet featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Sylvain Pfeffer discussing the films and the scores. The CD release is limited to 500 units.

Deux grandes filles dans un pyjama • Le mur de l'Atlantique • Qui ? | Claude BOLLING | CD

Remastered and expanded edition.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Gilles Loison.
Limited edition of 300 units.

In collaboration with Éditions Bleu Blanc Rouge, Music Box Records presents three original motion picture soundtracks composed by Claude Bolling between 1970 and 1974: Le Mur de l’Atlantique (Atlantic Wall), Deux Grandes Filles dans un pyjama (Two Big Girls in Pyjamas) and Qui ? (The Sensuous Assassin).

This album highlights the remarkable versatility of Claude Bolling. A jazzman at heart since his teenage years, he explores very different musical worlds here.

For Deux Grandes Filles dans un pyjama (by Jean Girault), he delivers a light and carefree score full of charm and swing. The famous slow saxophone piece performed by Claude Luter creates the perfect seductive atmosphere for Lionel (Jacques Jouanneau), a lonely husband spending the summer trying to charm two young foreign tourists. Bolling blends flute, xylophone, brass, and strings with humor, even playfully quoting Beethoven with timpani, harp, and bongos during the fantastical suspense sequences.

For Le Mur de l’Atlantique (by Marcel Camus), Bolling composed a contrasted score blending humor and tension. The film follows the misadventures of the restaurant owner Duchemin (Bourvil), who steals one of the plans for the Atlantic Wall. The anthem God Bless Rugby and the German theme Kamerad form the backbone of the narrative, culminating in a long final chase where the two motifs intertwine.

With Qui ? (by Léonard Keigel), Bolling successfully ventures into pop and Californian rock. The songs, including the well-known Who Are You?, accompany Serge (Maurice Ronet) and Marina (Romy Schneider) on their various car journeys. Recorded at Morgan Studios in London, this score features driving electric bass, nervous piano, and psychedelic atmospheres.

Fully remastered from the original master tapes, this album also includes two rare bonus tracks from the 1973 45 rpm single (Concert Piano + Voices of Mother Nature). The package includes an 8-page booklet featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Gilles Loison discussing the films and the scores. The CD release is limited to 300 units.

Music Box • The Matchmaker | Philippe SARDE | CD

Remastered edition.
12-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Édouard Dubois.
Limited edition of 350 units.

In collaboration with Studiocanal and BMG, Music Box Records is proud to present a new album featuring two remarkable scores by Philippe Sarde: Music Box (1989) and The Matchmaker (Once I Was, 2010).

For Music Box, Costa-Gavras’s powerful political thriller starring Jessica Lange and Armin Mueller-Stahl, Philippe Sarde composed an austere and intense score. The music revolves around two central themes: Ann’s deeply melancholic theme and the music box theme — pure, almost childlike, like an ancient universal lullaby. Their variations intertwine throughout the film, heightening the atmosphere of tension and tragic revelation. This new edition benefits from a brand-new remastering.

For The Matchmaker by Avi Nesher, Philippe Sarde delivers a score of great delicacy for this nostalgic romantic drama. The film explores the silences of the past and the hidden wounds of love in 1960s Israel. The composer adopts an impressionistic musical language in which the orchestra unfolds like a symphonic poem. With few direct synchronizations to the image, it offers a resolutely melodic and atmospheric discourse, laced with subtle Yiddish inflections. This deeply humane score is available for the first time on CD.

These two works, distinct in their stylistic approaches, testify to Philippe Sarde’s sensitivity and mastery, equally capable of supporting an intense historical drama or an intimate, nostalgic chronicle.

Supervised by Philippe Sarde, the program has been assembled by Édouard Dubois and fully remastered by Christophe Hénault. The package includes a 12-page booklet featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Édouard Dubois discussing the films and the scores. The release is limited to 350 units.

Mauregard • Adieu mes 15 ans | Georges DELERUE | CD

Remastered edition. Limited Edition of 500 units.
8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Gilles Loison.

Music Box Records is proud to present the thirteenth volume of the collection Great Television Soundtracks, dedicated to two original scores for television series composed and conducted by Georges Delerue: Mauregard (1970) and Adieu mes quinze ans (1971).

Claude de Givray, associated with the French New Wave and a longtime collaborator of François Truffaut, began a career in television, directing documentaries about cinema and History. In the early 1970s, he directed two television series, Mauregard and Adieu mes quinze ans. Mauregard is steeped in a Balzacian world, with references to The Lily of the Valley, already heard in Truffaut's work through his character Antoine Doinel. The saga tells the story of a family from the Val-de-Loire region in France, near Balzac’s own home, and their ancestral castle of Mauregard, over the course of a hundred years, from the late 19th century to the 1970s, with twenty-year time jumps between each episode. For this romantic epic, Delerue draws on the spirit of Brahms - his favorite composer - placing the waltz at the heart of the score. It gracefully and melancholically accompanies the love story between the two protagonists, Maxence and Françoise (Richard Leduc and Claude Jade), while enveloping the family intrigues in timeless elegance.

Adieu mes quinze ans sensitively explores the world of adolescence - a theme dear to de Givray. Adapted from a bestselling young adult novel by Claude Campagne, the series follows 15-year-old Fanny (played by the young Patricia Calas, already known from an adaptation of Hector Malot’s En famille), whose life is turned upside down by the arrival of a charismatic truck driver, Yann. The ensemble blends emerging talents - Christian Baltauss (seen at the TNP) and Norwegian model Lill Börjesson as Ingvild - with veteran French actors such as Henri Guisol and Jany Holt. For this intimate and melancholic chronicle, Delerue creates a delicate and poetic score. He cradles Fanny’s confidences, written in her diary, with a slow Vivaldi-inspired ballad on guitar - a variation drawn from the Andante of Vivaldi’s Mandolin Concerto in D major. The orchestration is enriched with flute, clarinet, oboe, zither, and harp to evoke hushed, dreamy atmospheres, while the strings provide long lyrical lines or nervous ostinatos during moments of suspense and heightened emotion.

Remastered from the scoring session tapes courtesy of Georges Delerue's personal archives, this present edition features the world premiere release of these two gorgeous television scores. The CD comes with an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Gilles Loison. The CD release is limited to 500 units.

Girl_Gold_Watch_Everything_Presentation_

Dragon’s Domain Records presents the world premiere release of the soundtrack for THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & DYNAMITE, featuring music composed by Bruce Broughton (SILVERADO, TOMBSTONE, THE ORVILLE ) for the 1981 television film directed by Hy Averback, written by George Zateslo, based on the novel by John D. MacDonald, starring  Philip MacHale, Lee Purcell, Burton Gilliam, Zohra Lampert, Morgan Fairchild, Jack Elam, Gary Lockwood, Jerry Mathers, Richie Havens, Lyle Alzado, Carol Lawrence, Tom Poston, Larry Linville and Gene Barry.

Airing on television in October 1981, THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & DYNAMITE is the sequel to THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & EVERYTHING from the previous year, based on the 1952 novel by John D. MacDonald. For the sequel, the original leads would be replaced by Philip MacHale and Lee Purcell and the sequel continues the adventures of Kirby Winter (MacHale), an affable but somewhat naïve young man who inherits a mysterious gold pocket watch from his eccentric uncle. The timepiece possesses an extraordinary power: when activated, it can stop time for everyone except the person holding it, leading to a variety of humorous and suspenseful situations, as Kirby and his spirited girlfriend Bonnie Lee Beaumont (Purcell) attempt to use the watch to save her family farm from unscrupulous land developers. As a result, Kirby and Bonnie must rely on their wits and the watch’s extraordinary power to outmaneuver a series of increasingly desperate antagonists.

A key contributor to the buoyant tone of THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & DYNAMITE is the score by Bruce Broughton. His music blends playful orchestral colors with a sense of adventure, reinforcing both the comedic and suspenseful elements of the story. Light woodwind passages and jaunty rhythmic figures accompany the film’s comic moments, while broader orchestral themes underscore the escapades and chases that drive the narrative forward.

Bruce Broughton, who has won ten Emmy Awards and been nominated for an Oscar, began his journey into film music in 1973, scoring episodes of television shows from GUNSMOKE, HAWAII FIVE-0, and DALLAS to JAG and THE ORVILLE, miniseries like THE BLUE AND THE GREY and THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA, and feature films such as SILVERADO, YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS, TOMBSTONE, and HONEY, I BLEW UP THE KID. Broughton has more than 130 scores to his credit.

Throughout his career, Broughton has amassed ten Emmy Awards (from twenty-three nominations) and an Academy Award nomination (SILVERADO). In addition to being a composer and an accomplished conductor, Broughton is also a tireless educator having taught classes at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, the Department of Screen Scoring at the USC Thornton School of Music, and is currently serving as Media Composer-in-Residence at the University of North Texas.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents the world premiere release of THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & DYNAMITE, featuring music composed by Bruce Broughton. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by Scott Davis.

THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & DYNAMITE is a limited edition release. THE GIRL, THE GOLD WATCH & DYNAMITE is expected to begin shipping the week of July 20th, 2026.

Fried_Melodramas_Presentation_Pack_1024x

Dragon’s Domain Records presents GERALD FRIED: MELODRAMAS, featuring music composed by Gerald Fried (THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., STAR TREK, ROOTS) for two noirish urban tales from 1961 that slightly preceded his transition into television.

Released in 1961, TWENTY PLUS TWO was directed by Joseph M. Newman, adapted from the best-selling novel by Frank Gruber, starring David Janssen, Jeanne Craine, Dina Merrill, Jacques Aubuchon, William Demarest, Agnes Moorehead, Brad Dexter, Robert Strauss and Fredd Wayne.

TWENTY PLUS TWO, also known as IT STARTED IN TOKYO, follows private eye Tom Adler (Janssen), who specializes in tracking down missing heirs. When the secretary of former World War II hero and current Hollywood actor Leroy Dane’s fan club is murdered, Adler discovers a link to the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Doris Delaney. She vanished 13 years earlier in Manhattan, and despite her father spending half a million in a futile search, Adler uncovers a new clue that leads him to Dane (Dexter). The investigation further leads to an encounter with Dane’s former girlfriend, Linda Foster (Crain), and her pal, Nicki Kovacs (Merrill). After winning the confidence of Doris’ mother (Moorehead), Adler gains new information and discovers a connection to a young woman he met while recovering from war wounds in a Tokyo hospital. The trail leads first to Chicago, where Nicki vanishes and finally to a remote homestead in South Dakota, where past and present collide, and the villains’ true identity is revealed.

Also released in 1961, A COLD WIND IN AUGUST was directed by Alexander Singer, written by John Hayes and Burton Wohl, starring Lola Albright, Scott Marlowe, Joe De Santis, Clarke Gordon, Janet Brandt, Skip Young, Ann Atmar, Jana Taylor, Dee Gee Green and Charlie Brill.

A COLD WIND IN AUGUST follows Iris Marlowe (Albright), a woman in her thirties who begins a torrid love affair with Vito Pellegrino (Marlow), the teenage son of the superintendent of her apartment building. Vito is unaware that she’s a former burlesque-show stripper until one of his friends sees her perform at a club after she agrees to help her ex-husband who is desperate to book artists for an upcoming show. Vito is unable to cope with the reality of Iris’ true identity and their romance collapses in a fiery argument. A COLD WIND IN AUGUST was directed by Alexander Singer, whose career as a cinematographer began alongside composer Gerald Fried on mutual friend Stanley Kubrick’s DAY OF THE FIGHT.

After the success of THE KILLING in 1956, Kubrick moved to Los Angeles, shortly followed by Fried, who was immediately hired to compose and arrange music for several films, including THE VAMPIRE, THE RETURN OF DRACULA, MACHINE GUN KELLY and I, MOBSTER, I BURY THE LIVING, and TIMBUKTU (1959).

Dragon’s Domain Records presents FORCED VENGEANCE , featuring music composed by William Goldstein for the 1982 martial arts action film directed by James Fargo (THE ENFORCER, EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE), written by Franklin Thompson and Fargo, starring Chuck Norris, Mary Louise Weller, Camilla Griggs, Michael Cavanaugh, David Opatoshu, Frank Michae Liu, Bob Minor, Lloyd Kino and Leigh Hamilton.

Released in 1982, FORCED VENGEANCE represents an intriguing moment in the evolution of American martial arts cinema and the career of Chuck Norris. Produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film was one of Norris’s earliest projects with a major Hollywood studio, boasting a relatively large budget of around $5 million and filmed extensively on location in Hong Kong and Macau.

FORCED VENGEANCE Josh Randall (Norris), a Vietnam veteran and head of security for the Lucky Dragon Casino in Hong Kong. When Sam (Opatoshu), the casino’s owner and his family are brutally murdered by organized crime figures seeking control of the business, Randall embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance. Randall becomes hunter and hunted, framed for the murders and pursued by both criminals and corrupt law enforcement. As he navigates Hong Kong’s dense urban landscape, Randall protects Sam’s daughter, Joy (Griggs), while seeking the mysterious mastermind behind the attacks.

FORCED VENGEANCE was scored by composer William Goldstein. His work on the film demonstrates a sophisticated approach that contrasts with the film’s often gritty visuals. Goldstein has been a recording artist for Motown and CBS Masterworks, scoring over 50 Movie and Television projects, including FAME & THE MIRACLE WORKER.

His filmography includes music for films such as THE BINGO LONG TRAVELING ALL-STARS & MOTOR KINGS, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, FORCED VENGEANCE, FAME, UP THE CREEK, SAVING GRACE, HELLO AGAIN, INTIMATE POWER, SHOCKER, BLOOD RIVER, THE QUARREL, Danielle Steele’s ZOYA and THE MIRACLE WORKER, as well as contributing music on television for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, THE TWILIGHT ZONE,RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE MAGICAL WORLD OF DISNEY and OCEANQUEST.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents FORCED VENGEANCE, featuring music composed by William Goldstein for the first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by Scott Davis.

FALLING-IN-LOVE.jpg

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Paramount Pictures, presents a newly expanded and remastered edition of Dave Grusin’s beautiful and deeply romantic score for FALLING IN LOVE (1984), a film directed by Ulu Grosbard and starring Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep. A timeless love story in the tradition of Brief Encounter and An Affair to Remember, the film remains one of the most elegant romantic dramas of the 1980s.

FALLING IN LOVE tells the story of Frank and Molly, whose chance meeting while Christmas shopping unexpectedly alters the course of their lives. Months later, they recognize each other on their daily commute home, and what begins as a casual friendship gradually develops into the most meaningful relationship in either of their lives. Yet both are married, and Frank is the father of two young children, forcing them to confront the emotional consequences of their growing feelings.

Dave Grusin composed a heartfelt and lyrical score, blending romance and drama with the sophisticated jazz-fusion influences that had become one of his unmistakable musical trademarks. Although the score heard in the film is remarkably cohesive, several cues were ultimately omitted from the final cut. Most notably, Grusin’s original main title was replaced by his earlier concert piece Mountain Dance, which is tracked into the film several times. This expanded edition restores Grusin’s complete original conception of the score, featuring the intended opening theme, all the unused cues, and a selection of alternate takes written for various sequences in the film.

This release has been meticulously produced by Dan Goldwasser, mixed and mastered by Chris Malone from the recently discovered complete set of original 24-track session masters, newly transferred in high resolution courtesy of Paramount Pictures. The package also includes an essay by film music writer Jeff Bond, discussing both the film and Grusin’s remarkable score.

BSX DIGITAL presents music from the television series CHICAGO STORY, featuring music composed by Stu Phillips (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25thCENTURY, KNIGHT RIDER) for the series that ran in 1981 and 1982.

CHICAGO STORY, airing from March to June 1982 on the NBC TV network, was an ambitious attempt to tell stories that revolved around the stresses experienced by the city’s legal and medical workers. It preceded producer Dick Wolf’s “Chicago Franchise” trilogy (CHICAGO FIRE, CHICAGO P.D., and CHICAGO MED) by thirty years.

Bond actress Maud Adams and Kristopher Tabori led the ensemble cast as Cook County Hospital doctors with Craig T. Nelson, Vincent Baggetta, and Molly Cheek as attorneys, and Dennis Franz, Richard Lawson, and Daniel Hugh Kelly as members of the police force. The series was created by Eric Bercovici, hot off adapting James Clavell’s SHŌGUN for NBC, and soon from a 2-hour television movie that aired a year earlier. Initially, episodes ran 90 minutes, but as the series struggled to find an audience, the network cut the show back to 1 hour, eventually cancelling it after 13 episodes.

Stu Phillips was one of several composers engaged to score the series, which included John Beal, Dick Halligan, George Romanis, and James Di Pasquale. The main title theme was created by Lalo Schifrin, who scored the original pilot film.

Composer and producer Stu Phillips has enjoyed one of the longest and most far-ranging careers of the rock & roll era, working not just in popular music but also in film and television on his way to amassing a body of work as eclectic as any of his contemporaries. Born September 9, 1929, Phillips studied at New York City's High School of Music and Art, followed by a stint at the Eastman School of Music, where he also moonlighted as an arranger for the Rochester Civic Orchestra. He entered show business proper as a copyist for television's legendary Milton Berle Texaco Hour before landing with Capitol Records and assisting composer Harry Revel and theremin virtuoso Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman on the space age pop landmark MUSIC FROM OUTER SPACE. In 1974 Phillips landed at Universal Studios, where in the years to follow he composed the music for television hits including THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, QUINCY, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and KNIGHT RIDER. He published his autobiography, ‘Stu Who?’ in 2003.

BSX Digital presents the premiere release of music from the television series CHICAGO STORY. The music composed by Stu Phillips has been newly mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland. The liner notes were written by Scott Davis.

David Copperfield / Great Expectations

Malcolm Arnold, Maurice Jarre

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Sony Music Publishing, presents an album that features, for the first time on CD, the original LP programs of two Charles Dickens television adaptations with magnificent scores by Malcolm Arnold and Maurice Jarre.

The timeless works of Dickens have inspired countless screen adaptations, many of them enriched by memorable musical scores. Among the finest are Malcolm Arnold’s DAVID COPPERFIELD (1971) and Maurice Jarre’s GREAT EXPECTATIONS (1974), two remarkably different yet equally compelling interpretations of Dickens’ enduring literary world.

Composed for the acclaimed television adaptation of DAVID COPPERFIELD, Malcolm Arnold’s score ranks among the composer’s most graceful and heartfelt works, and it was his last film score. Blending lyrical warmth, lighthearted charm and moments of dramatic intensity, Arnold captures the emotional journey of Dickens’ beloved protagonist with the melodic fluency, transparent orchestration and unmistakable humanity that define his musical voice. The score stands as an outstanding example of Arnold’s music and a testament to his extraordinary gift for musical storytelling.

For GREAT EXPECTATIONS, Maurice Jarre offers a richly expressive and deeply atmospheric score that reveals a more intimate side of the celebrated composer. Eschewing grand gestures in favor of emotional nuance, Jarre crafts a sophisticated musical tapestry that underscores the complex relationships between Pip, Estella and Miss Havisham through elegant thematic writing and finely judged orchestral colors. It remains one of the composer’s most distinguished contributions from the period.

Together, these two scores showcase the unique artistry of Malcolm Arnold and Maurice Jarre while celebrating the enduring appeal of Dickens’ classic novels. Rich in melody, character and dramatic insight, they stand as exemplary achievements in television scoring and welcome additions to the legacy of two of the twentieth century’s most distinguished film composers.

This album has been remastered and restored by Chris Malone using the best available sources. In the case of DAVID COPPERFIELD, despite many efforts, the album master could not be located, so it was restored from several pristine vinyl copies. The package includes an in-depth essay by writer, film music journalist and television music expert Jon Burlingame.

South_Seas_Adventure-Presentation_Pack_1

Citadel Records, a division of BSX Records, presents music from the original score to SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE, the fifth and last of the original 3-panel Cinerama travelogue films. Narrated by Orson Welles, SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE presents five separate stories, woven out of a series of theoretical, island-hopping voyages that start en route to Hawaii and after traversing the South Seas as far as Australia, end up flying back home from Honolulu.

Featured after the score for SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE are several themes that Alex North wrote throughout his career for a wide range of projects, including music from JOURNEY INTO FEAR, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, THE RACERS, DRAGONSLAYER, LES MISERABLES and the legendary song from UNCHAINED, resurrected years later for the film GHOST in 1990.

Alex North studied music at the Curtis Institute of Philadelphia, then won a scholarship to Juilliard in New York and the Moscow Conservatoire, making him the first-ever American to become a member of the Union of Soviet Composers. In Europe, he worked as music director for the Latvian State Theatre, before returning to the U.S. in 1935 to perfect his craft under Aaron Copland. At the same time, he produced his first compositions, including two symphonies, chamber music and dance scores for Martha Graham and Agnes de Mille. After a spell in Mexico as conductor/composer, he served as a captain with the U.S. Army, in charge of 'self-entertainment programs' for hospitalized psychiatric patients. He also did his first film work, scoring documentaries for the Office of War Information.

Profoundly influenced by Duke Ellington, North began to write several innovative compositions in jazz. North went on to compose theatrical scores, including DEATH OF A SALESMAN for Elia Kazan, which opened the door to Hollywood. A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE was the first all-jazz score ever written for a motion picture. His next assignment was the film version of DEATH OF A SALESMAN, followed by VIVA ZAPATA!, for which he used traditional instruments, including marimbas and timbales.

Much of his subsequent work was characterized by sparse instrumentation. One of his most beautiful and lyrical works was the love theme from SPARTACUS. His filmography includes THE RACERS, I’LL CRY TOMORROW, THE ROSE TATTOO, THE BAD SEED, THE RAINMAKER, THE LONG, HOT SUMMER, THE SOUND AND THE FURY, THE WONDERFUL COUNTRY, THE MISFITS, CLEOPATRA, SHANKS, BITE THE BULLET, WISE BLOOD, DRAGONSLAYER, UNDER THE VOLCANO, THE DEAD and THE PENITENT. Alex North was Oscar-nominated fifteen times but only received the coveted statuette as a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1986.

HIstorically, SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE was the first Stereophonic record on the market, released in February, 1958. It would later appear again on vinyl in 1981. Label X released the music on CD for the first time in 1993. Citadel Records, a division of BSX Records, presents this new release of SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE, featuring music composed and conducted by Alex North, performed by the Cinerama Symphony Orchestra, including the Norman Luboff Choir, newly remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and retaining the original album liner notes by John Steven Lasher, Tony Thomas and Alain Silver.

SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE is a limited edition release. SOUTH SEAS ADVENTURE will begin shipping the week of  August 26th, 2026

Soar into a Magical World of Action, Excitement and Enchantment!‘

Dragon’s Domain Records presents the original motion picture soundtrack for ARABIAN ADVENTURE, featuring music composed by Ken Thorne (A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, JUGGERNAUT, HANNIE CAULDER) for the 1979 fantasy adventure film directed by Kevin Connor (FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE, THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT, MOTEL HELL), written by Brian Hayles, Milo O’Shea, Oliver Tobias, Emma Samms, Puneet Sira, John Ratzenberger, Shane Rimmer, John Wyman,  Hal Galili, Art Malik and Christopher Lee as Alquazar.

Christopher Lee leads the cast of ARABIAN ADVENTURE as Alquazar, the Caliph of Jadur, who has sold his soul to usurp the rightful ruler. He holds the populace in an iron grip, sending out thugs each night to punish those breaking curfew. One evening, two strangers are captured: Majeed (Sira), a young beggar boy with a monkey, and a handsome stranger (Tobias), who eventually break out of the dungeon. He impresses Princess Zuleira (Samms) with his fighting skills as he battles his way to the throne room. Once there, he introduces himself to Alquazar as Prince Hasan and requests Zuleira’s hand in marriage. The Calif demands a test of his bravery, a quest to find and return a magical rose from a perilous land far away...

For the film’s score, composer Ken Thorne was allowed to create a lush orchestral palette of motifs featuring arrangements highlighted with bold brass, warm strings, and an ethereal choir. Principal themes include a lovely romantic melody for the princess and a thrilling percussion-driven performance for the flying carpet battle.

Ken Thorne (1924-2014) was a veteran English composer for motion pictures since the mid-1960s. He gained a successful career as a big band pianist during the 1940s, and later took up studying composition at Cambridge, which led to scoring films, starting out with a 1948 musical but began earnestly in the early 1960s. Thorne so impressed director Richard Lester on one of his early films that he became Lester’s composer of choice, writing the instrumental underscore for HELP!, starring The Beatles, then winning an Oscar for best adapted music for Lester’s film A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, and reworked the music of John Williams from SUPERMAN for Lester’s two sequels, SUPERMAN II and III. Over his career, Thorne composed, orchestrated or conducted more than 100 feature and television movies.

Director Kevin Connor collaborated with composer Ken Thorne many times over the course of their careers, on films such as THE HOUSE WHERE EVIL DWELLS, THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, the mini-series GREAT EXPECTATIONS, SUNSET GRILL, the mini-series RETURN TO LONESOME DOVE, LETHAL EXPOSURE, AGE OF TREASON, THE ELIZABETH TAYLOR STORY, THE APOCALYPSE WATCH, MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS, IN THE BEGINNING, SANTA, JR and MARCO POLO.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents ARABIAN ADVENTURE, featuring music composed by Ken Thorne. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by author David Hirsch.

Land_of_The_Pharaohs-Presentation_Pack_1

Citadel Records, a division of BSX Records, presents LAND OF THE PHAROAHS/GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL/THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY/SEARCH FOR PARADISE, a powerful compilation of suites from four films composed by Dimitri Tiomkin (HIGH NOON, THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, GIANT, THE ALAMO), in performances conducted by the great Elmer Bernstein, performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Soloists and Chorus.

Released in 1955, LAND OF THE PHAROAHS was directed by Howard Hawks, written by William Faulkner, Harry Kurnitz, Harold Jack Bloom, starring Jack Hawkins, Joan Collins, Dewey Martin, Alexis Minotis, James Robertson Justice, Luisella Boni, Sydney Chaplin, James Hayter and Kerima. LAND OF THE PHAROAHS follows the Pharoah Khufu (Hawkins), who is obsessed with acquiring gold and he plans to take it all with him into the next life. He enlists the aid of Vashtar (Justice), an architect, to build him a robbery-proof tomb. In exchange, Khufu will release Vashtar’s people, who have been enslaved. Princess Nellifer (Collins) becomes Pharoah’s second wife and she begins to plot to prevent Khufu from taking his treasure with him...

Released in 1957, GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL was directed by John Sturges (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, THE GREAT ESCAPE), written by Leon Uris and George Scullin, starring Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Rhonda Fleming, Jo Van Fleet, John Ireland, Lyle Bettger, Frank Faylen, Earl Holliman, Ted de Corsia, Dennis Hopper, Whit Bissell, George Matthews, John Hudson, DeForest Kelley, Martin Milner, Lee Van Cleef, Joan Camden and Kenneth Tobey. GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL is one of the more popular re-tellings of the classic story featuring Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp and Kirk Douglas as Doc Holliday in legendary star-making performances, supported by an excellent ensemble cast.

Released in 1954, THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY was directed by the great William Wellman (WINGS, BEAU GESTE, A STAR IS BORN), written by Ernest K. Gann, adapting his novel, starring John Wayne, Claire Trevor, Laaraine Day, Robert Stack, Jan Sterling, Phil Harris, Robert Newton, David Brian, Paul Kelly, Sidney Blackmer, Julie Bishop and Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez. Considered to be the granddaddy of air disaster films, THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY follows a commercial airliner as it develops engine problems on a trans-Pacific flight. As the pilot loses his nerve, the troubled co-pilot must take over and bring the plane back safely... As he prepares for a crash landing, the passengers are forced to reasses their lives...

Released in 1957, SEARCH FOR PARADISE was a documentary film directed by Otto Lang, written by Prosper Buranelli, James S. Parker and Lowell Thomas, narrated by Thomas himself. SEARCH FOR PARADISE was one of the original three-panel Cinerama travelogue films, following Thomas as an explorer searching for paradise in the ancient cities, wild waters and lush gardens of the mountaintops around the world.

Dimitri Tiomkin was a Russian Jewish composer who emigrated to America and became one of the most distinguished and best-loved music writers in Hollywood. He won a hallowed place in the pantheon of the most successful and productive composers in American film history, earning himself four Oscars and sixteen Academy Awards nominations. Classically trained in Saint Petersburg before the Bolshevik Revolution, he moved to Berlin and then to New York City after the Russian Revolution. In 1929, after the stock market crash, he moved to Hollywood, where he became best known for his scores for Western films, including DUEL IN THE SUN, RED RIVER, HIGH NOON, THE BIG SKY, 55 DAYS AT PEKING, GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL, RIO BRAVO, and LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL.

From 1974 to 1979, composer Elmer Bernstein, a great believer in preserving the film music of the past, indulged an expensive whim: Re-recording excerpts from memorable scores by esteemed colleagues ranging from Alfred Newman and Miklos Rozsa to Alex North and Bernard Herrmann.

Citadel Records, a division of BSX Records, is proud to bring these recordings back into the marketplace, under license from the composer’s estate with the music newly remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and retaining the original liner notes written by Christopher Palmer.

Eye_For_An_Eye_Presentation_Pack_e2da4f2

Dragon’s Domain Records presents AN EYE FOR AN EYE, featuring music composed by William Goldstein for the 1981 martial arts action film directed by Steve Carver (THE ARENA, BIG BAD MAMA, LONE WOLF McQUADE), written by James Bruner and William Gray, starring Chuck Norris, Mako, Richard Roundtree, Maggie Cooper, Rosalind Chao, Terry Kiser, Stuart Pankin, Professor Toru Tanaka and Christopher Lee.

Released in 1981, AN EYE FOR AN EYE follows undercover narcotics cop Sean Kane (Norris) as he tries to find out who is responsible for the death of his partner, Dave (Kiser). The film opens with Kane and Dave waiting to meet one of their informants but ends instead with Dave being killed. Kane survives the attack but gets into trouble with his boss, Captain Stevens (Roundtree). Rather than face a disciplinary hearing and suspension, Kane quits the force.

Linda (Chao), Dave’s distraught girlfriend is a reporter and starts to investigate what happened herself. But when she gets too close to the truth, Linda is also killed. Kane joins forces with James Chan (Mako), Linda’s grieving father, along with Linda’s close friend, Heather (Cooper), who is a news editor at the station Linda was working at. Linda and Heather reported to Morgan Canfield (Lee) and he offers his support to find the men responsible.

Kane and Chan are attacked while they are trying to find the missing informant who ended up causing Dave’s death. When Heather discovers her apartment has been trashed to recover Linda’s interview tape, she tells Kane about the Sulu Sea, the freighter where Linda was conducting her interview. Kane sneaks onto the Sulu Sea and searches the cargo hold, finding drugs that have been imported from Hong Kong inside crates of fireworks. To cover his escape, Kane sets off the fireworks.

Heather recovers Linda’s tape from a locker at the train station and leaves a message for Kane to meet her at the TV station. Playing back Linda’s tape, they discover that Canfield is the ringleader of the drug cartel and also discover the identity of the mole in the police department. Canfield takes Heather hostage and withdraws to his estate. Kane and Chan race to the estate to rescue her...

AN EYE FOR AN EYE was scored by composer William Goldstein. His work on the film demonstrates a sophisticated approach that contrasts with the film’s often gritty visuals. Goldstein has been a recording artist for Motown and CBS Masterworks, scoring over 50 Movie and Television projects, including FAME & THE MIRACLE WORKER.

His filmography includes music for films such as THE BINGO LONG TRAVELING ALL-STARS & MOTOR KINGS, FORCED VENGEANCE, FAME, UP THE CREEK, SAVING GRACE, HELLO AGAIN, INTIMATE POWER, SHOCKER, BLOOD RIVER, THE QUARREL, Danielle Steele’s ZOYA and THE MIRACLE WORKER, as well as contributing music on television for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE MAGICAL WORLD OF DISNEY and OCEANQUEST.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents AN EYE FOR AN EYE, featuring music composed by William Goldstein for the first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by Scott Davis.

Zitat

FYI, this issue has been fixed on the digital version, if you purchased it from BSX directly, your download link also takes you to a page where you can stream the tracks as well.

We’ll have an answer about the physical cd for this next week. (Zitat 14. August)

Keine Filmmusik, aber vielleicht interessiert es wen, was Anthony Hopkins so in seiner Freizeit komponiert:

YOURE-DEAD.jpg

Quartet Records proudly presents the premiere release of Robert Folk’s deliciously energetic and stylish score for YOU’RE DEAD, a 1999 British crime comedy directed by Andy Hurst that starred John Hurt, Rhys Ifans, Claire Skinner and David Schneider.

A darkly comic tale of crime, greed and spectacularly bad decisions, YOU’RE DEAD offered composer Folk an ideal playground for a score that combines suspense, eccentricity and unabashed orchestral excitement. Best known for his memorable music for the POLICE ACADEMY series, TOY SOLDIERS, TREMORS, THE NEVERENDING STORY II and MILES FROM HOME, Folk has always brought a strong melodic personality and superb orchestral craftsmanship to his film work, and YOU’RE DEAD is no exception.

Performed by the Munich Symphony Orchestra under the composer’s baton, Folk’s music moves effortlessly between suspenseful textures, mischievous character writing and vigorous action set pieces, with rhythmic energy and bold orchestral gestures driving the narrative forward. Beneath the score’s playful surface is the polished dramatic architecture that distinguishes Folk’s best work: memorable themes, carefully developed motifs and an instinctive understanding of how to balance melody, tension and cinematic spectacle.

Previously unreleased, YOU’RE DEAD represents another fascinating entry in Robert Folk’s rich and varied filmography and a particularly enjoyable example of his late-1990s scoring style.

This album has been carefully mastered by Chris Malone, and the booklet includes an in-depth essay by film music writer Daniel Schweiger.
