veröffentlichung Intrada: LITTLE DARLINGS (Charles Fox)
Alexander Grodzinski erstellte ein Thema in Scores & Veröffentlichungen
Intrada announces the premiere release of Charles Fox's score to the 1980 Paramount film Little Darlings. Fox wrote a lyrical score featuring solo harmonica, harpsichord, guitar and orchestra. “It was a sweet picture,” Fox recalls today. “Two young girls, younger women going to camp and getting involved in love affairs and romance and all that. I was really proud of that score, frankly." Fox worked on two songs for the movie with lyricist Carole Bayer Sager—a main title theme, “Little Darlings,” and a romantic song, “You and Me and Summer.” Ultimately neither song made it past the demo stage, but the melodies became foundational for the score. “Little Darlings” is an upbeat number that establishes the mood and energy of light summer fun. “You and Me and Summer,” on the other hand, is a wistful, low-key tune with a classic hook, intended as love music for Ferris’ relationship with the camp counselor. The opening piano figure expands on an opening riff from the “Little Darlings” song and forms the basis and mood for a lot of the underscore in the film. Vocal demos of the two songs are included as well among The Extras to give listeners a sense of what could have been. The album was sourced from multi-track elements stored at Paramount, but they were showing their age. Co-producer Chris Malone did extensive restoration in creating this album along with co-producer Dan Goldwasser. The result is a perfect-sounding album in crisp stereo to a charming and bittersweet score that has been often overlooked. Jeff Bond's liner notes adorn the package along with cover design by Stéphane Coëdel and overall design by Kay Marshall. Check out the soundtrack trailer here. The film stars Tatum O’Neal, Kristy McNichol Matt Dillon, and Armand Assante and follows two teenage girls from different backgrounds who meet at summer camp and make a bet to see who can lose their virginity first. As they navigate peer pressure, friendship and growing up, they discover that love and relationships are more complicated than they expected. The film takes a more mature and sophisticated approach than what one might initially expect. THE SCORE 01. Little Darlings Main Title* (2:19) 02. Little Darlings* (2:32) 03.

-
Intrada announces an expanded 2-CD set of James Horner's score to An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. This sequel to the 1986 film An American Tail sees James Horner expanding on his original score with all new themes and vocals. It's bigger, it's bolder, it's more epic...like the Wild West itself! Apart from the characters, Horner’s music is the strongest tie to the earlier film. It reprises several themes from An American Tail, while adding three new songs—with lyrics by Will Jennings—to the lexicon: “Way Out West,” “The Girl You Left Behind” and the signature anthem, “Dreams To Dream.” The latter is sung in the film by voice actor Cathy Cavadini, who delivers a haunting, longing performance that transcends the animated background to which it is linked. The score goes in new directions, opening up its vistas to the West via Copland-esque nods and roaring Old West adventure. The score recording began at Abbey Road Studios, but soon moved to recording in Culver City, California. The film score presentation on this new release opens with “American Tail Overture (Main Title) (Film Edit).” Several changes were made to the recording after the London sessions. Rather than redo the entire piece, pick-ups were recorded in the US and edited together for the film. They include a new opening and an insert to move up the appearance of the song “Somewhere Out There.” The cue as recorded in London can be found on CD 2 (track 2), which contains the original MCA album presentation. Other changes between the London recordings and the US sessions used in the film are documented by co-producer Neil S. Bulk in his tech talk. Frank K. DeWald wrote the liner notes, and cover design is by Stéphane Coëdel, with artwork layout by Kay Marshall. Co-Producer Mike Matessino oversaw the entire project, which has been done with the generous cooperation of Universal Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and Universal Music Enterprises. View the album trailer here. In the film, young mouse Fievel Mousekewitz and his family leave New York for the American West, hoping to escape the dangers of city life. However, they soon discover that the West is full of new threats when a gang of villainous cats plots to take over the town. Separated from his family, Fievel teams up with a friendly sheriff named Wylie Burp to stop the cats and help save the community. CD 1 THE FILM SCORE 01.
