Gerade die Waldsequenz mit Grogu ist wirklich exquisit instrumentiert (der Rest natürlich auch). Da schimmert auch in den Harmonien Ravel durch.

Okay interessant 🤔. Es ist absolut irre was er in seinem Alter noch leisten kann. Die meisten Menschen wären längst tot und der Großmeister steckt selbst mit über 90 Jahren immer noch alle in die Tasche

Danke Sebastian interessant mal eine Gegenstimme zu hören. Ich bin zwar auch eher einer der „Nörgler“, aber bisher lief der Score nur einmal bei mir durch. Da ich, aufgrund von positiven Erfahrungen in der Vergangenheit, auf deine musikalische Einschätzung viel wert lege, werde ich dem Ganzen wohl noch eine Chance geben.

Wirklich großartige Musik, die beste des bisherigen Jahres. Mir völlig schleierhaft, wieso der Tenor hier so negativ ist. Alles hat unglaubliche Verve und Musikalität, die Verbindung der (toll instrumentierten!) sinfonischen Teile mit der Techno-Elektronik ist originell und spürbar mit Spaß an der Sache gemacht; es ist nie krachig/soundig gedacht, sondern immer Struktur-fokussiert; die Actiontracks sind zuweilen erste Sahne, vor allem der von @Dunge_Onmaster erwähnte "All Weapons Hot" (aber auch "Tracking Lord Janu" und "Strap In" sind stark). Originell sind auch die ROCKY/Conti-Anmutungen beim Rotta-Material. Wüsste auch gar nicht, was ich am Album großartig kürzen sollte. Die letzten drei Tracks - "All Weapons Hot", "Red Jammer" und das großartige "Your Turn, Grogu" - plus der Main Title, "Grogu's World" und "Flying Home to Navarro" ergeben aber eine tolle Suite, wer in die Highlights reinhören möchte.

Wird doch bestimmt eine reine Re-Issue, oder? Korrektur, ich habe mir den Trailer nicht angeschaut.

Angeblich hat er alles selbst dirigiert. Soweit mir bekannt, hatte die Schwäche in der rechten Seite ja mit dem Schlaganfall zu tun. Offensichtlich hat er sich davon recht gut erholt.

Hat man mal wieder ein paar Extra-Minütchen gefunden - plus dem alten Album auf CD2 ?

Weiß man schon ob Williams noch selbst dirigieren konnte? Bei Indiana Jones 5 brauchte er ja bereits Hilfe (verständlich bei seinem Alter).

Für mich sind Film und Score auch das Event des Jahres! Bin natürlich besonders gespannt, was für Konzertfassungen das Album bereit halten wird. Hoffe, dass das Tracklisting bald durchsickert. Was das Konzept des Films betrifft, verdichten sich ja die Hinweise, dass es ausgeprägte Chase- und Conspiracy-Elemente geben wird - dementsprechend hoffe ich auf Paranoia- und Hatzmusik à la WAR OF THE WORLDS oder MINORITY REPORT. Die relativen kühlen Bilder der Regierungs-Einrichtungen im Trailer unterstützen ja durchaus die Annahme, dass Williams hier wieder etwas "gläserner" und abstrakter schreiben könnte. Und auf das 20-Minuten-Finale, von dem in verschiedenen Reviews gesprochen wird, bin ich auch sehr gespannt...

Heißer noch als heiß bin auch ich auf diesen neuen Spielberg und Williams und werde nächste Woche Mittwoch gleich am Starttag um 13:30 Uhr im hiesigen IMAX-Filmpalast Beider neues SciFi-Werk gleich mal in Augen- und Ohrenschein nehmen mit meiner Frau. Der Trailer sieht ja seehr interessant aus und noch kann ich mir absolut keinen Reim drauf machen, in welche Richtung Spielberg seinen Film anlegt, als hauptsächlich SciFi-Alienmysterie oder als rassigen Verschwörungs-Vertuschungsthriller-Reißer mit eventuell auch echten Alien-Elementen. Da bin ich mal seehr gespannt in welche Richtung der Hase läuft.

Die Vorfreude auf Disclosure Day könnte von meiner Seite her kaum größer sein. Der neue Science-Fiction-Film von Steven Spielberg startet am 12. Juni 2026 und markiert bereits die 30. Zusammenarbeit mit John Williams. Der Soundtrack soll zeitgleich mit dem Film erscheinen. Aktuell wird von einer digitalen Veröffentlichung über Back Lot Music sowie einer physischen Schallplatte über Mondo Music ausgegangen. Die gute Nachricht für uns Sammler: Es wird eine CD 💿 geben. Das haben wir bestimmt John Williams selbst zu verdanken. 🤩 Besonders neugierig machen auch die ersten Feedbacks aus Kritikerkreisen. Der freie Filmkritiker Jairo Jiménez schrieb: „John Williams’ Score für Disclosure Day ist erneut unglaublich symbolträchtig. Er verbindet Emotion und Mysterium auf meisterhafte Weise und hebt jede Szene auf ein neues Niveau. Was für ein grandioses Comeback des Maestros.“ Ich persönlich bin unglaublich gespannt, sowohl auf den Film als auch auf den Score. Neu von Quartet: Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and Universal Music Publishing Italy, celebrates the centenary of Maestro Riz Ortolani with the ultimate edition of his classic, killer score for DAY OF ANGER (I giorni dell’ira, 1967), an iconic spaghetti western directed by Tonino Valerii and starring Lee Van Cleef and Giuliano Gemma. The film, one of the most beloved by fans of the genre, is about a scruffy street sweeper who becomes the pupil of a famed gunfighter, and the stage for confrontation is set when the gunman overruns the boy’s town through violence and corruption. Riz Ortolani’ score finds him at the height of his creative powers, blending sweeping orchestral themes, tense action motifs and moments of surprising lyrical beauty into a uniquely sophisticated musical experience. While Ennio Morricone’s influence often dominates discussions of music for Italian westerns, Ortolani’s approach to DAY OF ANGER reveals a distinct voice—elegant, dramatic and melodic. The unforgettable main theme (rediscovered by Tarantino and included in his film Django Unchained) captures the film’s atmosphere of revenge, ambition and moral conflict, while recurring motifs demonstrate the composer’s remarkable ability to balance raw tension with emotional depth. Albums were released by RCA in 1967 in mono (the Italian LP) and stereo (the U.S. edition). Both featured the same track listing, though with different mixes, takes and edits on some tracks. Im Sommer erscheint der DC erstmalig auf UHD. Das war ja schon öfters auch mal ein Grund, dass Scores nochmal expandiert veröffentlicht wurden. In diesem Fall gibt es denn ja schon von James Horner und Gabriel Yared ist ja leider weiterhin unwahrscheinlich. Wollte es nur mal erwähnt haben.

Snow Files of the Week: "Randi loves Jason/Theme From Skateboard" aus dem Film "Skateboard" (1978). Das ist die älteste Veröffentlichung eines Scores von Snow. Das Album zu "Skateboard", welches nur als LP und MC erhältlich ist, enthält Spät-70er Rockmusik und Marks groovenden Score. Musikalisch ein völlig anderer Mark Snow als der, der dann 15 Jahre später die X-Akten musikalisch zum Leben erweckte. Viel Spaß beim Hören!

Gibt es eigentlich irgendwo eine Übersicht allen Themen-Recyclings bei Sarde?

Der neue Europhoria Soundtrack vom Hans ist raus. Hört sich recht gut an.

Wenn man sich an den weiter oben ja von mir angesprochenen Recyclings (Themen aus HELLÉ, L´HOMME AUX YEUX DÁRGENT, LE PETIT GARCON werden wieder aufgegriffen) nicht stört, dann ist THE MATCHMAKER auf alle Fälle ein sehr hübscher, schön instrumentierter Score mit etwas hebräischem Kolorit. Ich werde mir die CD nur wegen MATCHMAKER daher durchaus holen. Sind ja immerhin solide 42 Minuten.

Wegen The Matchmaker lohnt sich die Disc aber trotzdem, oder? Die Ausschnitte klingen zumindest sehr schön. Music Box bräuchte ich jetzt auch nicht unbedingt noch einmal...

Vor rund 2 1/2 Jahren oben von mir angesprochen, erscheint der MATCHMAKER jetzt tatsächlich auf CD bei Music Box mit etwa 20 Minuten mehr als das, was die 11 Youtube-Tracks bislang geboten haben. CD habe ich noch nicht bestellt, freue mich aber ebenso auf Grashopper/Domino Principle. Bin aber kein wirklicher Freund von "Busting" - höre viel lieber von ihm bspw. den FSM Omnibus Score zu "High Risk".

Da die CD wohl erst Ende Juni ausgeliefert wird, kann man mal wieder Goldenbergs Musik zu dem Elliot Gould-Streifen Busting hervorholen.
