Im September gibt es von Dragon's Domain Records "The John Morgan Collection Vol. 1" mit einer Sammlung von Morgans Original-Scores für diverse Kurzfilme und Hörspiele:

Zitat

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents THE JOHN MORGAN COLLECTION, VOLUME 1, featuring world premiere releases of music from several projects the composer has been involved with across his career.

John Morgan is best known as a leading reconstructionist of vintage film scores, in partnership with composer/conductor William T. Stromberg. With Morgan’s expertise in transcription and orchestration and Stromberg’s capability as a conductor, the pair have been involved in restoring significant film scores for new recordings, allowing rare historic and artistic film music in many genres to be recorded and released, many in complete form, for the first time.

THE JOHN MORGAN COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 gathers together a number of Morgan’s lesser-known, independent short film scores, and one score for an audio play broadcast on radio. The scores demonstrate Morgan’s affinity to the form and style of classic film music and on their own contain some remarkable music which we are pleased to share.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to present the world premiere compact disc release of these scores included on THE JOHN MORGAN COLLECTION, VOLUME 1, remastered and reconstructed from the composer’s own elements by James Nelson at Digital Outland with assistance from composer William Stromberg. The booklet includes exclusive liner notes written by author Randall Larson, with the participation of composer John Morgan and comments from Kirk Henderson, director of THE VISAGE.

THE JOHN MORGAN COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 is a limited edition release of 500 units. The retail price is $17.95.

THE JOHN MORGAN COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 is expected to begin shipping on September 4th, 2019. The composer will autograph the booklets for the first 50 copies sold through the website.

Tutti possono arricchire tranni i poveri - Franco Bixio, Fabio Frizzi & Vince Tempera

Zitat

Tutti possono arricchire tranne i poveri is a 1976 film directed by Mauro Severino, starring Enrico Montesano, Barabara Bouchet and Anna Mazzamauro. It tells the story of a couple who comes into sudden wealth thanks to a football lottery and of their vicissitudes in blowing the newfound fortune.
The music for this funny and oblique comedy was composed by a trio of musicians very much industrious throughout the 1970s: Franco Bixio, Fabio Frizzi and Vince Tempera. These three musicians had developed a defined triangular identity, composing wonderful scores such as 7 note in nero, Sella D'Argento, Godzilla il re dei Mostri, Il secondo tragico Fantozzi, Febbre da Cavallo, Roma l'altra faccia della violenza, I quattro dell'Apocalisse and many more.
It was an incredible and prolific collaboration that gifted Italian cinema with iconic scores, celebrated here once again with this unreleased score that doesn't delude expectations, released as part of the DDJ series and presented in a transparent jewel case and featuring a 12-page booklet designed by Daniele De Gemini, mastering by Claudio Fuiano and liner notes by Marco Ferretti.

Quando la coppia scoppia - Piero Umiliani

Zitat

Quando La Coppia Scoppia is a 1981 film directed by Steno and starring Enrico Montesano, Claude Brasseur and Dalila Di Lazzaro in a comedy in which our protagonist Enrico Granata (Montesano) is facing a matrimonial crisis as a third party (Brasseur) tries to steal his wife (Di Lazzaro).
A movie gifted with a score by Piero Umiliani, until now completely unreleased, one of the last composed by him and which denotes, once again, the Maestro's proficiency in jazz orchestrations and provides rhythms for every situation, coloring the sparkling atmosphere of the movie.
We find various orchestrations of the main theme, cues with a sexy flavor for a handful of nocturnal sequences and two tracks reused from prior films scored by Umiliani, Johnny Moggi Quintet (1975) and News! News! News! (1979).
It's a nice tribute to the great Tuscan Maestro that can't be missing from his fans' collections and which we are glad to offer in the DDJ series, namely dedicated to music of the 70s and 80s. The CD is presented in a transparent jewel case with a 12-page booklet, with mastering by Enrico De Gemini, graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini and liner notes by Marco Ferretti.

"We proudly present on this CD the world premiere release of Carlo Rustichelli´s complete original score for the 1959 historical adventure movie LA NOTTE DEL GRANDE ASSALTO (THE NIGHT OF THE GREAT ATTACK) which was a French-Italian co- production directed by Giuseppe Maria Scotese and starred a cast of French and Italian actors such as Agnès Laurent, Sergio Fantoni, Kerima, Fausto Tozzi, Giacomo Rossi Stuart and Alberto Farnese.
The action takes place in 1488: The ruthless commander Cesare Borgia wants to extend his reign in Northern Italy. He instructs his Captain to seize the castle of Count Fabio in the Apennine Mountains by subterfuge in order to conquer the territory of Forli owned by Countess Caterina Sforza. Together with a band of vagabonds Caterina´s nephew Marco - under the pseudonym Marco Volterra - tries to prevent Borgia´s  plans and all ends in a large-scale impressive night attack on the castle from which the film´s Italian title originated.

Rustichelli who literally scored hundreds of films his long career was one of the most versatile and distinguished Italian film composers, he had an inimitable lyrical symphonic style and an immense melodic gift. The score for LA NOTTE DEL GRANDE ASSALTO was composed around the same time at the end of 1959 as his masterful one for the peplum ANNIBALE – a few striking similarities between both works can be heard in some of the battle music tracks – and with a duration of more than 70 minutes must be one of the longest of his career. It is music of great vitality, with a wealth of thematic ideas, lush, passionate and often in an almost operatic tone.

The Main Title which underscores Marco´s flight from the Borgia henchmen on horseback immediately grabs the listener´s attention due to its pulsating drive and is followed by the bold, and brassy motive for Marco himself which will be extensivelly developed in the battle scenes during the last third of the film.
For the band of thieves Rustichelli provides a catchy and jaunty little march in his immediately recognizable style which gets all kind of variations whereas the love theme has a slight Renaissance flavour and is even a bit reminiscent of  similar melodies later on composed by Georges Delerue in France. Another delicate tune is the Spanish song “Mora Moraima” wich is heard in vocal and isntrumental versions throughout the score.
There is quite a lot of rugged and rhythmically agile music for the various knife and sword duels , but Rustichelli  pulls out all the stops for the lengthy attack on the castle near the end of the movie which has a duration of more than 10 minutes and is almost continuously scored with breathtaking dramatic power.

Although the film itself may be little-known among soundtrack aficionados today, the epic, rich and varied score written with such commitment and enthusiasm by the Maestro Rustichelli is worthy to be rediscovered on its own on this CD as a large-scale symphonic poem from the Italian Golden Age of film music."

Bei Digitmovies erscheinen am 26. September zwei neue CDs.

Goldsnake - Carlo Savina (auch als LP)

Zitat

Digitmovies is pleased to release, for the first time on CD, the OST by Carlo Savina for the spy film “Suicide Mission to Singapore” (original title “Goldsnake Anonima Killers”).

SOUNDTRACK

For this OST, Carlo Savina composed lounge background music, at times dominated by a mysterious Asian vibe (Track 2) and by sophisticated jazzy vibes. "Gold Snake" (Tracks 1 and 17), the main score, is interpreted by the fabulous voice of Iva Zanicchi, written for a symphony orchestra, and accompanied by the New Orlandi choir (the piece was recorded on 45 RIFI RFN NP 16141). The leitmotif is reprised in a shake version (Tr.3) and a slow danceable version (Tr.10). The well-known actress Yoko Tani, the film’s protagonist, performs the romantic piece "Crazy" (Tr.7), which is also recorded in an instrumental version (Tr.4, Tr.11). The spy aspect of the plot is emphasized by suspense and action music (Tr.8, Tr.9, Tr.12, Tr.13, Tr.15). For this CD the mono master tapes of the recording session were used.

Zitat

For the absolute first time, we are releasing the complete edition CD of the OST by Riz Ortolani for the film “Make Love, Not War” (aka “Non faccio la guerra, faccio l’amore”).

SOUNDTRACK

Riz Ortolani composed a pleasant symphonic OST dominated by a romantic main theme. It’s  introduced with horns and performed by trumpet and orchestra in the opening credits, and then reprised throughout the soundtrack in a series of captivating variations. The motif is alternated with romantic moods, suspense pieces, jazz and folk music, the brilliant Latin American theme for the billionaire Don Getullio, and a wild shake. Originally C.A.M. had only released a 45 rpm (C.A.M. AMP 13) with two mono tracks. For this CD, we were able to access the masters from the original recording session which was entirely in stereo. Here we have another CD that enriches the discography of one of the most beloved composers in the world.

Schon wieder Korzynski.

Zitat

Since the early days of television, programme-makers have used music to enhance their visuals – but few did it as well as The Goodies. So intrinsic is the show’s music that it is impossible to imagine its absence – it isn’t in the show, it’s of the show. And yet, due to the production policies of the time, the source recordings were disposed of once the show itself was completed. Most of these reel-to-reel audio tapes were recycled for other productions, but five original session tapes have survived and are presented here as a unique artefact of the recording process used on this world-famous comedy series.

Written by Bill Oddie in partnership with Michael Gibbs and Dave MacRae, the series’ specially-composed music was eclectic in scope and covered a wide range of styles and formats (including jingles and fake adverts). The sessions on this set feature some fan favourites – Dumb Animals, Berserk, Working the Line, Bonecrusher – as well as the only remaining element from the original version of Kitten Kong not to be included in the remake: the fake advert soundtrack for the meat/chocolate bar Universe (“So full of cow it almost moos...”).

"Saimel Records proudly presents on this CD the complete original score by Carlo Savina for the rare 1964 melodrama AMORE MIO which was directed by Rafaello Matarazzo and starred Eleonora Brown, Paul Guers and Antonella Lualdi.

During the 1950s Matarazzo had been one of Italy´s most successful directors and his series of melodramas with the popular couple Amedeo Nazzari and Yvonne Sanson had constituted some of the highest box-office grosses of post-war Italy. AMORE MIO should become his last film before his untimely death in 1966 and candidly deals with themes like divorce and bigamy and the disillusionment each of the three main characters has to cope with.
Matarazzo with his camera concentrates above all on the charming face of the then only 16-year-old Eleonora Brown who had been a child actor in Vittorio De Sica´s Oscar-awarded 1960 war drama LA CIOCIARA. She plays the young girls Nora who is totally disappointed in life as she has been neglected by her single mother who secretly works as a prostitute and as she never had a father has always been treated as a bastard. Severe conflicts arise when the boat daler Mario (Paul Guers) hires Nora as his secretary, slowly falls in love with her and even leaves his wife Elsa (Antonella Lualdi) as their marriage in the meantime has disintegrated.

Carlo Savina was one of the busiest and most prolific Italian musicians during the 1960s and 1970s. The symphonic score he composed for AMORE MIO may be rather obscure for many soundtrack collectors nowadays, but it is also one of his most beautiful and inspired. It is surging with passion and filled with lush romanticism.
Savina immediately introduces his yearning and heartfelt main theme during the Main Title almost in the vein of a classical piano concerto as the solo piano is the main protagonist which is framed by wonderful lush strings. The tone is tragic and intense and the music so touchingly bespeaks the futility of Mario and Nora´s love affair. This theme often crops up in the score during the love scenes and always remains attractive due to its melodic power and to Savina´s ability to come up with all kinds of lovely variations according to the changing moods of the picture.

There are still other themes: Mario´s little daughter Mirella is accompanied by an often reprised dreamy motive mostly stated by organ and vibraphone whereas the scenes with her mother Elsa are dominated by a gentle and wistful theme for strings. More jazzy sounds mostly with prominent use of the saxophone are reserved for Nora´s mother and create a sultry atmosphere to musically depict her somewhat shady way of life.

For AMORE MIO Carlo Savina has written a haunting romantic film music masterpiece which fascinates from beginning to end due to its melodic fervour and its lyrical beauty and is absolutely worthy of a rediscovery on this CD.
Our disc presenst the complete score in mono from the original master tapes (Tracks 1-19) preserved in the Sugar music archives as well as the album program (Tracks 20-36) of the rare CAM LP which had been issued in 1964."
