Noch mehr Hau-Drauf-Action aus den späten 80'ern/frühen 90'ern. Hired To Kill. Jerry Grant? Sagt mir nichts. Nico Mastorakis? Auch mir nicht sonderlich bekannt. Aber der Film ist mit Brian Thompson, dem Alien-Bounty-Hunter aus den X-Files, nebst Oliver Reed, George Kennedy und José Ferrer. Das "composed and conducted" macht mich wirklich neugierig.

Kommt demnächst digital von MSM und auf CD von Quartet. Links dann bald...

Der Regisseur des sehenswerten griechischen Exploitationfilm-Klassikers DIE TEUFLISCHEN VON MYKONOS, und neben Nikos Nikolaidis eine der wichtigen Figuren des neuen griechischen Kinos am Ende der Militärdiktatur. Hat dann aber schnell eine internationale (Genrefilm-)Karriere verfolgt, die ihn auch in die USA brachte. Hans Zimmer vertonte in seinen frühen Jahren einige der Mastorakis-Filme, noch vor seinem Durchbruch mit RAIN MAN. 

HIRED TO KILL kenne ich noch nicht, sieht aber ausgezeichnet aus. Kommt auf die Liste.

Born on July 3, 1945, Dennis McCarthy is a composer of television and film scores. Feine Sache - habe aber bereits die Erstausgabe, sowie die Doppel-DVD mit der kompletten Partitur.

Interessanter wären mal seine alten LP-Only-Scores auf CD zu erleben, wie z.B. HOLLYWOOD, COMMANDING SEA (Sampler), MUSIC FOR TELEVISIOn (Sampler), PRINCE REGENT

Und es gibt doch auch von Davis' Stummfilmkompositionen noch einige, die es bisher bestenfalls auszugsweise auf CD geschafft haben.

Mich persönlich würde natürlich der Intolerance-Score von Pierre Jansen und Antoine Duhamel noch etwas mehr reizen.
