Der Aufwand für LLL ist ja auch Recht gering da alles von der alten Box übernommen werden kann. Neues Artwork und booklet und fertig ist die Laube. Bestimmt schön profitabel. Es sei LLL gegönnt. Die TOS Box ist für mich das Paradebeispiel für eine Serien Veröffentlichung.

Dieser Schlag-auf-Schlag-Output ist doch ganz einfach nur aus der Not heraus geboren. Das hat MV Gerhard selbst längst eingestanden und es hat somit nichts mit einer "Vorproduktion" anderer Titel zu tun. Die US-Studios, die überhaupt noch Lizenzen vergeben (Warner und Disney/Fox gehen für LLL ja seit geraumer Zeit ohnehin nicht mehr) lassen sich mit ihren "approvals" endlos Zeit und so liegen mehrere Titel seit Monaten in der Wartestellung, die das ganze Jahr durch nicht gebracht werden konnten. "Waiting for approvals" ist hier das eigentliche Stichwort.

LLL hat ja auch vier Monate Pause gemacht, um sein Lager zu verramschen. Ich glaube nicht, daß es nächstes Jahr wieder mehr wird. Aber ein klanglich verbesserter DS9-Pilotfilm würde mich interessieren. Die Musik auf den Best Of-Alben ist m. E. ganz okay abgemischt.

Ja, TNG Vol. III stößt mir mischungsmäßig auch sauer auf. I und II gibt es ja nun besser abgemischt und mit der IV war ich eigentlich auch ganz zufrieden. Oder ist da klanglich wirklich etwas schlecht? Am schlechtesten finde ich immer noch o. g. "The Emissary". Das klingt alles sehr verwaschen und dumpf.

Die Aussagen von MV sind etwas kryptisch. Die TOS Box war sehr teuer. Scheint aber ein finanzieller Erfolg gewesen zu sein. Das LLL Möglichkeiten nutz um das Material jetzt noch einmal für sie günstiger zu verkaufen ist klar.

Für mich war die TOS Box jeden Cent wert. Schade für alle die sie verpasst haben. Das GNP Material hat ja einige wichtige TOS Klassiker dabei.

Höre gerade "Spectre of the Gun" von Jerry Fielding. Einer des besten Scores der Serie für eine der besten Episoden für die surreale Handlung in Tombstone mit den stilisierten Kulissen, die als Simulation auf einem Alienplaneten stattfindet. Komponiert hat Fielding seine Musik 1968 am Vorabend seines Meisterwerks "The Wild Bunch" für Sam Peckinpah. Diese Musik, die sich wie immer bei Fielding auch bei einer solchen TV-Produktion nicht hinter seinen großen Filmscores verstecken muss, kann ohne Probleme als Proto-Wild Bunch bezeichnet werden. Zwar gibt es keine direkten thematischen Verbindungen zwischen beiden Scores, aber diese Musik wirkt wie eine Aufwärmübung für Fieldings Opus magnum. Neben einem delikaten Liebesthema hatte Fielding hier auch die Gelegenheit, wohl zum einzigen Mal in seiner Karriere "Outer Space"-Musik komponieren zu können. Hörbar wäre er in der Lage gewesen, ohne Weiteres einen SciFi Weltraumfilm vertonen zu können. Für die Eingangssequenzen der Episode hat Fielding nicht nur innovative neue Arrangements der Star Trek-Fanfare von Alexander Courage geliefert, sondern für die Weltraumszenen effektives Spannungsscoring mit Glockenspiel und Celesta und begleitenden Holzbläserfiguren.

Schön wäre es gewesen, hier beide Star Trek Scores von Fielding auf einer CD kombiniert zu sehen, aber seine berühmte Musik für "The Trouble With Tribbles" wurde bereits in den 90ern auf GNP Crescendo veröffentlicht. Es bleibt abzuwarten, ob das hier in der Reihe auch erneut außerhalb der großen TOS Box wiederveröffentlicht wird oder ob LLL wie bei den Pilotscores darauf verzichten muss.
