Tim Story (Fantastic Four1 & 2, Hurricane Season) führt nach einer langen Zeit von 2 Jahren wieder bei einem Kinofilm Regie

Fantastic Four director Tim Story has been set to direct the ensemble comedy Think Like a Man. The film is based on the bestselling book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey. Kevin Hart (Little Fockers) will star as a “self-professed relationship expert” who proceeds to lecture his friends and family even though his own marriage is crumbling.

Deadline reports that production on the film is set to start this July. Story hasn’t directed a feature since 2009’s Hurricane Season, and previously helmed Barbershop and Taxi before moving on to the Fantastic Four franchise. Keith Merryman & David A. Arnie is back

Yep, he’s back. After announcing he was looking for new projects following his tenure as Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return to The Terminator franchise in a new film. Long rumored to be attached to a new Terminator film, Justin Lin (Fast Five) is indeed directing. Deadline reports that the two are shopping a rights package around town in order to set the new flick up at a studio.

Schwarzenegger has been attached to a number of projects in the past few months, and it was looking like was close to choosing Kim Ji-Woon’s The Last Stand as his comeback project. There’s no word on how soon the new Terminator film would go into production, but one would assume the studio that grabs the project will want to get going as quickly as possible. After McG’s Terminator: Salvation reboot, the rights to the franchise were in a bit of trouble. Now it looks like the new flick will be set up with a new studio (the report states that Universal, Sony and Lionsgate are “looking hard” at the package). An interesting tidbit in the story, though, is that per copyright law, the rights to Terminator revert back to James Cameron in 2018. While it seems that Cameron really wants nothing to do with the franchise anymore, if a studio were planning on making Terminator films past that date, Cameron would have to sign off.

Nevertheless, this is about an imminent Terminator flick. Personally, I would have rather seen Schwarzenegger take on some new material rather than rehashing a character from his past. After T3: Rise of the Machines , it was pretty clear that you can only do the “robot from the other movies that isn’t really the same robot from the other movies” bit so many times before it becomes a tad tedious.

Lin is expected to be a hot commodity given the strong business that Fast Five is poised to do. The film is doing considerably well overseas and this may be his calling card to be moved up to the big leagues. I’m not a huge fan of the Fast and the Furious franchise, but I can appreciate the guy’s penchant for practical stuntwork, and it looks like he knows how to film action. Not to mention, he directed the “Modern Warfare” episode of Community, which is almost enough to forgive him for pretty much anything he does in the future.

The rights package for the new Terminator should be picked up quickly by a studio, after which a screenwriter will be hired and you can bet the flick will be fast-tracked. Here’s hoping they find an original angle with which to bring Schwarzenegger back into the loop.

Some most excellent news (thanks for the heads-up Movie Web) has been delivered by Bill S. Preston, Enquire (aka Alex Winter) via his Twitter account.

Seems that the long-mooted script for the third instalment of those heavy metal-obsessed time travelling world saviours, Bill & Ted, is now with Winter! Penned by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon (who wrote the previous films) theres no date as yet for production, but both the actor/filmmaker (currently at work on a remake of 80s horror favorite The Gate) and his co-star Keanu Reeves, are said to very much up for it.

Reeves is currently filming samurai epic 47 Ronin, so lets hope that this script is good enough to ensure he keeps his slate clear and pre-production can begin soon.

Neues von der Zemeckis Front

Could Robert Zemeckis finally be returning to live-action? And with a time-travel film to boot? It appears so, as Vulture reports that the director is in serious talks to helm the adaptation of Ken Grimwoods novel Replay. The thrilling premise centers on a radio journalist in his forties who dies, but awakes back in 1963 in his 18-year-old body with all of his previous memories intact. The kicker? He always dies in 1988, but returns to 1963 to start the whole 25 years over again with every single memory intact and the ability to make different life choices (spouse, kids, etc.)

This sounds like a fantastic concept, and a return to form for the Back to the Future director. Following the demise of his motion-capture Yellow Submarine remake, Zemeckis has been tooling around with a couple of live-action flicks. Most recently, he entered early negotiations to helm Flight with Denzel Washington. The script for Replay, by Jason Smilovic (Lucky Number Slevin), has been lingering around Hollywood for a while. Ben Affleck apparently flirted with directing the project before moving on to Argo, and now the project is at Warner Bros. with Zemeckis. Im all for this. I count myself among the many who found Zemeckis motion-capture obsession a bit creepy, and when the guys behind the camera for a live-action flick the results are almost always unique. In fact, his last live-action film was 2000s Cast Away.

In addition to Replay, the director is also planning on directing Flight with Denzel Washington in loose talks to star. The report states that with uncertainty over when/if Washington will finally commit to the project, Zemeckis is poised to film Replay first, then come back to Flight. Hes also toyed with the idea of the long-in-gestation Who Framed Roger Rabbit? sequel. Whichever project goes first, Im just elated that Zemeckis is coming back to live-action. Color me thrilled.

Wow, das wäre was! Replay habe ich erst letztes Jahr gelesen (ist im Original 1988 erschienen) und fand es großartig. Würde auch super zu Zemeckis' Faible für subtile Spezialeffekte passen, weil sich ja das Alter der Protagonisten ständig ändert. Andererseits ist er ja gerne Pionier, und neu ist diese Art Effekt ja nun auch nicht... Egal, ich würd mich freuen.

Comingsoon.net nennt die anderen möglichen assignments von zemeckis "gerüchte". Scheint also alles andere als sicher zu sein, ob und inwiefern er einen oder mehrere dieser projekte umsetzt. Flight hat meiner einschätzung nach das größte comeback potential, weil es sich gut verkaufen lässt und auch einen namhaften star im paket hat. Die anderen projekte sind alle irgendwie nischenware. An roger rabbit 2 glaube ich schonmal garnicht, weil es an diesem punkt in seiner karriere eigentlich nur tödlich sein kann einen alten streifen zu versequeln, der nur teuer produziert werden kann und am ende eher flop potential hat (der letzte cartoon-meets-real streifen ist ja kläglich gefloppt und selbst die cgi ableger des genres sind keine überflieger). Von daher würde ich mal schätzen, dass er als nächstes flight machen wird.

Das neue Projekt von Howdy Tarentino

And so, with last nights twitpic of the title page of Quentin Tarantinos latest script, were off. The spaghetti western is indeed titled Django Unchained. Franco Nero first spoke about his attachment in February, so the project is surely tied to the character that Nero originated in 1966s Django. A source who reportedly read the script sent Shadow and Act a plot synopsis that suggests Nero may be too Italian to play the title role:

Django is a freed slave, who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (played by Christoph Waltz) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner.

So Unchained is literal. Thats great! Thompson on Hollywood confirmed with agency WME that Waltz is on board; Nero indicated Keith Carradine and Treat Williams will also appear. Hit the jump for more production details.

Deadline reports Tarantino has a top-shelf cast in mind for Django Unchained. Depending on casting availability, production will start in late summer or fall. The Weinstein Company will handle domestic distribution, and Tarantino is speaking with Universal, Warner Bros., Sony, and Paramount about co-financing and foreign distribution. Universal is the best bet, hoping to continue their relationship with Tarantino after Inglourious Basterds earned the studio $193 million in international box office.

Since the title page leak, Deadline hears the studio and agency will work harder to keep the script under lock and key. Notably, the original tweet by @AgentTrainee has been deleted. But the script is out there, so we may receive more plot details in the near future as casting news starts to come in.

Fansite The Quentin Tarantino Archives suggest the film is also tied to the Takashi Miike movie Sukiyaki Western Django, which Tarantino acted in. My guess is its more a titular link than anything thematic. But this Django is unchained, so he could hop on a plane to shoot up Japan.

Hollywood fackelt nicht lange: Der australische Schauspieler Joel Edgerton wird eine Hauptrolle in Kathryn Bigelows filmischer Rekonstruktion "Kill Bin Laden" übernehmen.

Die Weltöffentlichkeit diskutiert nach wie vor den Tod des Al-Kaida-Führers Osama bin Laden und niemand weiß genau, was sich wirklich hinter den Mauern des Villengrundstücks im pakistanischen Abbottabad abgespielt hat, doch in Hollywood geht die Aktion "Geronimo" schon fast in die heiße Produktionsphase. "Hurt Locker"-Regisseurin Kathryn Bigelow und ihr Autor Mark Boal gaben bekannt, dass der Australier Joel Edgerton eine zentrale Rolle ihres Films mit dem Arbeitstitel "Kill Bin Laden" übernehmen wird. Edgerton spielt ein Mitglied der amerikanischen Elitetruppe Seal 6, die das Versteck Bin Ladens erstürmten und den Terrorchef hinrichteten.

Joel Edgerton wurde bekannt durch die Rolle des Owen Lars, die er in "Star Wars: Episode II - Angriff der Klonkrieger" und "Star Wars: Episode III - Die Rache der Sith" verkörperte. Er spielte außerdem in den Filmen "Gesetzlos - Die Geschichte des Ned Kelly", "King Arthur" und "Smokin Aces". In seiner australischen Heimat stand er mit Cate Blanchett auf der Bühne, gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder gründete er eine eigene Filmproduktionsfirma.

Edgerton, der zuletzt auch für einen Part im "Bourne Legacy"-Reboot im Gespräch war, könnte mit der Hauptrolle von "Kill Bin Laden" der endgültige Durchbruch bevorstehen. Der Film wird die Geschichte einer Spezialeinheit erzählen, die nach den Vorfällen des 11. September 2001 den Auftrag erhält, Osama bin Laden zu töten. Eine erste "Kill-Mission" scheitert, doch die Männer lassen nicht locker. Die Ereignisse in der Nacht zum 2. Mai werden von Autor Mark Boal nachträglich in das Skript eingearbeitet.

Die Dreharbeiten von "Kill Bin Laden" sollen nach dem Willen von Kathryn Bigelow noch in diesem Sommer beginnen.

Rob Marshall to Direct Johnny Depp in Remake of THE THIN MAN; John DeLuca to Produce

Last year, we reported that Johnny Depp wanted to reunite with his Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall for a new adaptation of Dashiell Hammett’s The Thin Man. We have now received a press release confirming that Marshall is on board to direct and that John DeLuca (Nine) will produce through the duo’s LUCAMAR Productions company. While I was hoping that Marshall would direct the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked, it’s possible that the project is stuck so far down in development hell that there’s no way anyone can get to it. And that being said, Marshall is a talented director and I think Depp is a great fit for detective-turned-socialite Nick Charles.

Now the questions become “When will this shoot in relation to The Lone Ranger?” and “Which actress would make a good Nora Charles?” Hit the jump for the press release.

Marshall confirmed to direct the film and Marshall and DeLuca’s LUCAMAR Productions has come on- board as a producing partner.

MAY 09, 2011 (New York, NY) – Rob Marshall and John DeLuca have officially signed on to the Warner Bros. planned remake of THE THIN MAN. The pair will produce the film via their LUCAMAR Productions banner. Award-winning director Marshall is also confirmed to direct. The film will reteam Marshall with Johnny Depp, who is attached to star in the project. The two just worked together on PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES which Disney will be releasing on May 20.

LUCAMAR Productions joins Infinitum Nihil Company and Langley Park Pictures as production companies on the project. In addition to DeLuca and Marshall, Johnny Depp and Christi Dembrowski are producing on behalf of Infinitum Nihil, and Kevin McCormick is producing on behalf of his Langley Park Pictures. Jerry Stahl is attached as screenwriter. Says Marshall, “John and I are overjoyed at the idea of working with Johnny again, especially on such a classy and classic project. We are also thrilled to be partnering this time with such wonderful producers as Christi Dembroski and Kevin McCormick, and we are looking forward to working with Warner Bros. to create a reinvention of a beloved story.”

CAA and Michael Gendler of Gendler & Kelly negotiated the deal with Warner Bros. on behalf of Marshall and DeLuca. THE THIN MAN is a remake of the Oscar-Nominated 1934 film starring William Powell and Myrna Loy.

So der Nächste, der unter den Vampiren geht

Regisseur Jim Jarmusch meldet sich nach "Limits of Control" zurück und widmet sich nun einem gänzlich neuem Genre: Er wird als nächstes einen Vampirfilm in die Kinos bringen.

In den Hauptrollen sind Tilda Swinton, Michael Fassbender, Mia Wasikowska und John Hurt zu sehen. Näheres ist über das noch namenlose Projekt nicht bekannt, jedoch soll es sich dabei um eine Liebesgeschichte handeln. Die Produktion übernehmen Jeremy Thomas und Reinhard Brundig für Recorded Picture Company und Pandora Films. Die Dreharbeiten finden im nächsten Frühjahr in Deutschland, Marokko und in Detroit statt. Ein Kinostart ist noch nicht bekannt.
